On my previous review some 2 years ago, I rated this lovely restaurant the best in New Zealand. So I booked it for my wife birthday the 17January, for 18:00. We planned for an awesome evening because it was the 1st time in 20 years...More

Thank you for your comments. It was an extremely hot day and of course this terrible wind that has affected most of NZ meant we could only open certain windows and doors due to the winds.

A sun-soaked dining room that faces the evening sun during summer. The restaurant running right to the waters edge of the marina. A relaxing dining experience as the sun sets. The staff are also friendly and engaging without being too formal. The food is nice...More

Went here as a special treat. Lovely ambience right beside the marina. Good service. Meals of reasonable size and we'll cooked.

We went some friends from Auckland who enjoy fine dining, we had not been here before but had only heard good things about the place. The experience started right from the beginning with our lovely but not over bearing waitress who was an absolute pleasure...More

Delicious food and great service. Some tasty vegetarian options, we really enjoyed the lentil fritters. Excellent value for money, would definitely return.

Best thing was the size of the meals. We only wanted light lunch but food would have been enough for 4 instead of 2. Good view of the marina from tables at front. In back you are in the dark. Good value though.

I won't go into too much detail about how our main meals of Sticky Pork Ribs and NZ Salmon in Ginger and Asian Sauce were superb or our dessert of Double Chocolate Mousse Tart and Creme Brule were heavenly ... just do yourself a favour...More

Tried Phil's Place as rated top 10 in Tauranga, nice relaxing setting, staff friendly, however I ordered the lamb and unfortunately was over cooked. For $39 was disappointed. Even the waiter admitted it was overcooked, but no consideration was taken when paying the bill. Other...More

Staff were decent enough, but seriously, the food is sub par. Soggy vegetables, mash with no real texture or flavour, fish that is oily and overly battered. Very loud restaurant, which just adds to the disappointment. My suggestions, unless your after average food, don't come...More
