We had a set menu in which two courses allowed a choice between two dishes. My main was a beef fillet which I ordered medium and maybe it's open to interpretation, but I'm used to seeing some degree of pinkness in the centre of a...medium steak. Sadly we were not asked how our meals were and no one queried why my plate was taken away with the steak largely uneaten. A birthday was given as the reason for our booking for this special occasion but sadly no reference was made to the birthday haver on the night. For just under $500 for dinner maybe I was expecting too much to have had the kitchen put a candle on dessert. It's a nice enough venue with car parking on site. No views but the outdoor patio area was enjoyable. I'd like to have known at the time that there was the option to view art upstairs while waiting for our orders.More

A group of friends went to The Brantry in Taupo on a Thursday night. We were promptly greeted, seated and our drink orders were taken. Once drinks were in hand, we were invited to take our drinks upstairs and have a look at their art...gallery. The gallery has art, ceramics and jewelry for sale. Some beautiful pieces, but aggressively priced. We started with pork belly and salmon which were perfectly cooked and presented as individual works of art. It was lovely. The service was lackluster and not engaging at all. This is unfortunate because the food was amazing. Flavors on point, portion sizes generous and presented with flair. We had the beef filet and fish of the day for our mains which were cooked perfectly. The filet came with asparagus and mushrooms. The beef was seasoned to perfection and melted in your mouth. We had to wrangle the wait staff several times to get more water. It truly created an unbalanced experience, but the food was so good I would give them another try Enjoy!More

Arriving a little early we were warmly welcomed and offered the wine list. While we waited it was suggested we may like to visit the gallery upstairs. We did so and were very impressed with the quality and array of the various pieces. When our...friends arrived we were offered a choice of tables and elected to dine in the Gun room. We chose to have an entre and main course with a couple of side dishes. My entre was the pork belly and beef as the main course. Both were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. With the friendly staff and great surroundings, I highly recommend The Brantry.More

We visited as a family recently to mark a very special 21st birthday for my late son. Throughout the whole booking process, the wait staff..Kyra and Angel, the setting and the outstanding food, our family was shown the upmost kindness, consideration and compassion. We were allowed...to take our time and never felt rushed. It was a difficult celebration but you all made it special right down to making a lemon meringue pie for dessert being our sons favourite. I've been frequenting The Brantry as a local for years and you never fail to deliver. The restaurant is a credit to you both Prue and Felicity. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for making our evening so special.More
