Easy on line booking. Three share plates, a dessert , a cheese finisher, with 2 craft beers and two wines $171.00 - was good value and delicious. Lovely staff and service and a had busy hum as we get close to Christmas. Recommended

Highly recommend this place for great hospitality. The staff are friendly and attend to your every need, our food was cooked to perfection and super tasty and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The menu was not over complicated which was great. We've been there 3 times and every time has been awesome. Thanks for a great time team 😊

First time experience with my wife. dined here based off reviews and to be honest the reviews did not disappoint.
Food was fantastic with flavors so well blended you felt like you were in a Michelin rated experience. it had a great mix and the atmosphere felt private and personal.
staff were great and they were busy so we were lucky to be seated without a booking. they did say that orders were 25 minutes behind schedule but the quality of the dishes were worth the wait.
recommend booking asap when dining here. our total cost was $255 for 2 but it was well worth it.

I have dined at Plateau on several occasions but recently have found both the portion sizes for the amount paid and the service disappointing. I had lunch there recently, we ordered shared entrees which were, admittedly delicious, but small in comparison to the $28.00 and $24.00 we paid for them. Service was very slow to the point we had to seek out the wait staff to place our order. I can no longer recommend this restaurant for value and service there are better options in Taupo..

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Plateau Restaurant. The service was abysmal—the owner Frankie was inattentive and unprofessional, making us feel neglected throughout our meal. The food was equally lackluster; dishes were poorly prepared and lacked flavor. To top it off, the behaviour of the owner was rude and dismissive. Overall, it was a frustrating and unenjoyable visit. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience. When i shared my review with him he suddenly become a different person yelling at me and abusive towards me and my family bcz of his behaviour my daughter was scared and crying all the time worst visit not recommend at all. Not a safe place for kids

We visited this restaurant with friends for an evening meal and two of us were slightly disappointed. The other couple were not, they shared the small plates and had a very enjoyable eating experience. Two of us, however, had the steak meal and found the steak to be of a slightly inferior quality and with quite a lot of fat or grizzle. The veg provided separately was lovely and we also enjoyed our cocktails and desserts very much. Two of us had the rhubarb dessert and I had the chocolate and coffee one. Our Gin based cocktails were very much appreciated. Not quite the good eating experience my husband and I have had previously so I think, next time, we would go back to the small plates and enjoy some of those. We did find, however, that the wait for meals was fairly long but the serving staff were very pleasant and very efficient once the food arrived.

While it has the initial feel of a pub, the food was excellent and service was friendly and efficient. We had John Dory which was served with a miscellany of mushrooms, some of which were crisp. They, together with the carrot purée, were delicious and had me thinking about going back the next night. We tried The Vine instead. While its ambience is way better and the Pinot Nour recommendation was a delight, the food (eye fillet) was really ordinary. A small piece of dry and overcooked steak on top of a boulder of mashed potato sitting in a ju.
They say #lovetaupo and there is much to like about it. Plateau is definitely one of those things.

The short answer, if you are in a hurry, book now, go and enjoy.
This is our best, consistently excellent, restaurant in Taupo. We measure the others against it, because we have never been disappointed.
This time, I'm not lightly giving it a rating of 6. We had such a lovely visit and the meals were again superb.
My main was the market fish, which last time was based on salmon. This time it featured Snapper. So I did a repeat that was familiar but different.
I love to, that the staff clearly enjoy themselves. Seeing smiles coming from the kitchen says a lot about why the variety on the menu consistently exceeds expectations.
Front of house and serving staff make you feel special, and for all this, the prices are very realistic value for money.
I'm confident you'll enjoy!

Enjoyed a great early dinner last night. We met our daughter son in law and two grandchildren. We were all well catered for - children’s menus, dietary requirements included. Staff were so kind and lovely making us all comfortable and nothing any trouble.

Have not been here since January of this year. My husband and I went for lunch this time and I enjoyed my Cocktail very much, their Cocktail menu is pretty good. Then we shared breads for a starter and for the mains I had the fish dish and we shared the fries side dish. My husband had the Lamb. Both were very good. My fish dish had some beautiful deep fried mushrooms as part of the veg component. Very good service and I felt the visit was a more positive experience than my last early New Year evening one.

Good service, starters were superb, good drink options.
Very disappointed with the mains - lamb rump was well cooked but cold. The cauliflower risotto was more like a macaroni cheese, no discernible rice, and runny.
Will return but they need to up their game.

I got my mum voucher for Mother’s Day and she just went for dinner with her friends and ordered main meal salmon. She received snapper instead and once she told the girl at the end of the meal the girl apologized and said there was some misunderstanding and kitchen didn’t tell staff they finished salmon. They charged her full amount for a meal she ordered and doesn’t receive. Very disappointing and not how I wanted her to enjoy her Mother’s Day money. It would have been nice if they told her before serving them the meal! Very disappointing!

Staff were wonderful, first course arrived reasonably quickly, but main was a bit slow and we had to send 1 back as the fish was raw in the middle, it took quite a long time for a new meal to appear. All others at our table were well finished by the time it arrived.
If you are looking for value for money, look elsewhere, you will need 3 courses to be close to full. I had the lemon tart as dessert, at the widest end of the wedge you would be lucky if it was an inch wide. Very nice food just a lack of it.

Went on a recommendation, service was poor, kept having to ask for water, drinks and plates to be removed. Place was not busy, staff just to busy talking. Squid so tough we couldn’t eat it, chicken was really dry, dumplings were very vinegary. Really disappointing. Ended up leaving and going somewhere else after paying a $300 bill.

A friend recommended the Plateau to us and we were not disappointed. They also recommended the seafood platter which we had and it was delicious. William, our waiter was so good, very pleasant and attentive. He explained the menu to us and told us that they didn’t have clams that day so would substitute with other seafood. It was so good. My husband loves muscles and oysters and I don’t, so I had more of the scallops, prawns, smoked salmon and squid. The sauce on the muscles, he tells me was beautiful. The atmosphere is quiet and subdued, the menu had many choices and we would recommend it. There were young families eating ther as well as goups and couples.
