Good food and drinks, friendly staff. Was a short walk from our motel and a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the sunset over lake Taupō

Contrary to some of the previous reviews our experience was wonderful. Great service, polite and helpful staff and excellent food. No complaints here.

We were celebrating a special occasion with a large group. The restaurant team were amazing and went above and beyond to help us celebrate. Great location, great food, great pub vibe and lovely outside seating directly looking over the lake. Highly recommend. Thanks.

The worst food in Taupo, my wife had a $33 microwave pastie and i had birdseye frozen fish and chips It was ST Pats day also and the barman poured my guiness from one glass to another ,very different ?? and not tastie . Wouldnt...recomended it to anyoneMore

The atmosphere was good. The service was very disappointing. Our drinks were wrong, one of which didn't even have the correct alcohol, however they still tried to force us to take it. Told them that would like what I asked for and was greeted with...a grunt. As a person with coeliac disease this did not fill me with confidence. the meals arrived separately, 10 minutes between.More

Food was terrific. We had fish n chips, bangers and mash and halloumi salad and the food was excellent. The staff were so good. It was a great place to have a few drink and overlook the water and to have a meal.

Whilst a lovely place looking out over Lake Taupo the price of the drinks is excessive. $15 for a hazy Good George and $13 for a glass of wine. Come on guys, we're not in Auckland. If you want locals to visit then your pricing...needs to come down.More

Good food, enormous portions! We went on a busy Saturday night, it started to get chilly on the terrace so the waitress kindly found us a table inside, rather slow service but not uncomfortable . Very nice Beef & Guiness Pie.

I have been coming to this pub since 2011 when I have been working in the area. Myself and my workmates came here for a few beers and a meal. We were extremely disappointed by our experience and the unprofessional service received which included 1)...Generally dis-respectful tones and language to ourselves when attempting to place an order. We saw the staff talk in this way to others too.... 2) Talking negatively about customers behind their backs (which we could hear clearly from where we were sitting near the bar). 3) expensive prices for food 4) poorly presented food (given the price) 5) not all food brought out at the same time. about a 10 min wait before the 1st and last meal 6) 2 of the barstaff coughing behind the bar in front of customers (in ones defense she was wearing a mask but the other wasn't) This was the 1st time my 2 workmates had been to this pub and they will not return. I wont be eitherMore

Our landlord booked a table for us indoors. Checked in and shown to our table. Our waiter within minutes gave us a menu and took our drink order and returned with them quickly and took our meal order. The ambiance was good, chairs comfortable and...choice on the menu very good. Husband ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the Cajun chicken tagliatelle. We sipped our drinks and only had to wait 15 mins which is perfectly reasonable. A waitress noticed we still had empty place settings but we were happy to wait even though she popped into the kitchen to chase the order. Both meals were delicious. I don’t see how this place can get poor reviews. The food was tasty, the ambiance good, the serving staff attentive. Would definitely recommend this pub. Always pre book a table as it is a popular place with a great view of the bay.More

Combined with the wait of well over an hour to be served my meal and as a diabetic the wait was telling plus the people on the next table who waited as long as me and they had children got served with two wrong orders...and the waitress with hands on her hips arguing. It was unbelievable and left me thinking never come back to Taupo. The food was expensive and not that good and all they seemed interested in was serving alcohol. Shame on you 'Jolly Good Fellows' I want a refund!!More
