Beautiful setting with fine views and away from the bustle of downtown Taupo. The food was excellent (we had steak and chicken mains) and the service pleasant. We could chose indoor or al fresco seating. Will definitely be back!

We recently attended a 50th wedding anniversary at this venue and were very impressed The food was faultless for the type of function We were treated up stairs above the cellar firstly then downstairs to the cellar which was just great The steak was so...superior to the Steak House in Taupo and we suspect for a lot more reasonable price 😉 Only criticism would be there was a lot of nibbles that didn't take get eaten due to them not being served but this could be by choice rather than lack of service Unsure why it's called a cafe as it isn't one which does the venue a disservice We have been so many times when it was supposed to be a cafe but opening times were poor it's a pity as it would make a great cafe if opened early and continued onto evening food We have been for a meal in the restaurant on two other occasions and the food was just beautifulMore

Decided to try the seafood platter for two and it was very, very nice. Calamari, prawns, scallops, ciabatta, herb mayonnaise, dolmades, olives, artichoke, sundried tomato, salad, gherkins, brie and grapes. Not a huge platter like you get some places, but a smaller quality mix of...food that was all well prepared and had varying flavours (ie. not all deep fried!). We finished with chocolates and biscotti with hot chocolate, a nice end to the meal. We booked dinner here to utilise our guest's discount voucher, but probably would have tried it anyway, although it was nice to save a few pennies. It was a quiet night and we dined early - not sure how the hardwood floors and echoey room handles crowds and noise, as we were quite aware of footsteps and chair movements and other peoples conversations around us. But the service was nice, and we would dine here again if visiting the area.More

A group of 9 of us had dinner here whilst touring Taupo. The setting in the late afternoon was magic looking out over vineyards and the rural setting. The menu was varied with various seafood and meats and the service very good. My steak was...superb and beautifully cooked. Others enjoyed seafood or pork. Food was of high calibre and the beer and wine list very acceptable. A most enjoyable setting and good dining, we would recommend it.More

We were staying in the apartments in the same grounds as the restaurant and after a hard drive decided to eat here. We were also given a 10% discount voucher from the hotel on check in which made the decision easier. We were not disappointed....The service was great, they seemed to have only two staff working, a lovely waitress and the chef but as we were the only diners this was not an issue. The food we had was absolutely superb, produce was great and the cooking excellent, one of the best steaks I have had for a while. A great meal in a really nice setting.More

Situated on the hills just out of the town centre (Taupo) with views across the Lake and forever is Cafe Pinot. 6 of us had a superb lunch out on the large deck in the vineyard. The menu is varied with a brunch or a...lunch on offer. We all had a different selection from the menu and no one regretted their selection. The desert was also tops. I do have a one negative comment. I think paying 4x the retail price for a bottle of beer (Corona $8.00 & a glass of wine $12.00) is too high. I would have had two bottles at $4 but at $8.....well...you decide. It didn't spoil the food! What is also special is that the location is so much better than being in an over crowded, frantically busy city centre where waiting in a queue trying to get the attention of over worked frazzeled staff member is the norm. (Day after boxing day). Highly recommended.More

We stayed in a Huka Falls resort and for convenience decided to go in restaurant which is situated on its territory. We ordered salad Caesar and pork with price around 20 for salad and 30 for pork which is quite expensive for NZ restaurant. Yes...service was good and a place is looking good... But food was just too bad for this price. A chicken in Caesar was so tough that I would throw it away if I cook such at home and pork was 60% fat piece of meat with a taste of fat. So J would recommend not to go here. Next time when I go here and I really liked this resort I will go in this place only if they change all cooking team.More

We ate at this restaurant for convenience as we were staying at the resort and were very glad we did. It was a quiet Thursday night with few customers. This did not deter. The service was really good with a friendly helpful waitress and the...chef within sight so we could personally thank him for the best scallops we have ever had anywhere in the world. We opted for two entrees with bread, as the mains were not as appealing. We made a good choice. Scallops for me and prawns and salmon for him. Excellent choices, Mills reef Merlot was a great partner to a simple but excellent meal. We would recommend and return.More
