The staff, the environment, the accommodation are all first class and even better than expected. Thanks Hannah and Kerry! The mornings are the best surprise when you pull back the drapes! Amazing!!

Huka Lodge has mana amongst the population of New Zealand. It is now, and always has been, a benchmark for service, food and accommodation luxury. Our trip came about as a consequence of an enforced overseas trip cancellation. This is the first leg of a...three leg luxury NZ package called the Pioneers Package. It has been a wonderful springboard for a magnificent holiday. It will be hard for other “hotels” to live up to this ever again, but Huka Lodge is so much more than an hotel. The 5 course tasting menu every night was sublime and very difficult to select a winner from a brilliant chef and delightful wait staff. We were made to feel like family friends rather than paying guests. We have been very lucky to have been able to visit this beautiful, manicured slice of New Zealand paradise, and we know it. If you ever get a chance - or it’s on your radar - just do it, you’ll never regret itMore

We stayed at the Huka lodge as our last destination in New Zealand after travelling around for 6 weeks. We stayed for 5 nights and it was wonderful in every detail. It was the highlight of our Holiday! The accommodation which all the lodges are...the same, was very large and comfortable, the food well out of this world. The service was exceptional. They arranged transport to and from the town which was very helpful indeed. The grounds were beautiful looking out over the lake. We cannot recommend enough.More

Huka lodge is a slightly more formal lodge than the other luxury lodges that we have seen in New Zealand, but despite this it has retained a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is set beautifully on a river with the clearest water that I...have ever seen - the setting is so beautiful and calm. Service is very very professional and attentive! The food is outstanding, as are the locations in which you can dine (in privacy, if you so wish) - this could be on the terrace overlooking the river or away from it, in a small pavillion right on the river, in an upstairs dining room with a view or in the beautiful wine cellar. All rooms have a terrace facing the river and grassy area in front of it and are equipped with a deck with chairs. There is no spa on-site but the hotel has an excellent masseuse that comes in and does treatments in the room (she brings her own massage table). There is very good hiking nearby.More

If you stay in the hotel, you can eat at a different location every night - all breathtaking spots or in beautifully decorated rooms . A haven of peace with quiet, unpretentious elegance. Top.

Ate meals here for three days while staying at the lodge. The 5 course dinners are sublime and I enjoyed every course. A delicious selection of cheeses awaits you later. Breakfast was hearty with nice big cups of coffee. Very good Benedict! Lunch was delicious...with nice soups each day and imaginative oyster entree. The club sandwich was especially good. Great place with excellent and friendly service.More

My wife and I stayed at the lodge in early November, 2019 and enjoyed four world class dinners here. It's a five course menu, but with extra courses thrown in by the chef, plus an after dinner selection of cheeses and petit fours, you'll probably...be quite full and definitely quite satisfied. The dinner service kitchen is mostly from Brittany and Normandy, so it's no surprise that the menu has a French-inspired feel. We found every course delightful, but of note was beef tartare and a delicious chicken breast. If you go fishing and catch a trout, the staff will cook it to your specs. We had trout sashimi as an appetizer one evening and a trout fillet for breakfast. This is a very special restaurant!More

We dined on a rather chilly Sunday afternoon but enjoyed the views from inside. The three course lunch menu was fantastic, and delicious. Followed by coffee and sweets, we were certainly very full! Highly recommend for a touch of luxury and a different experience

Will add photos later...EVERY meal was spectacularly delicious, local-focused, fresh, creative, beautifully presented. Chef and team seem to have endless creativity and are flexible enough to make changes to a menu degustation for up to 40+ guests. We had special requests; all were accommodated without...any problem and importantly, without any sacrifice to quality. Portions are perfect—but you’ll still depart with a full belly and a full heart. The staff is the level you’d expect for a Relais-Chateau property: professional, speaking multiple languages, personable, engaging. Sommelier Dion was among our most favorite—incredibly knowledgeable in wine, food and reading the guests; he aims to please! The highest level of Service Professional. They aim to please, and they hit the mark for this diner & her husband. Thank you. Very Highest Recommendation.More

It was obvious from the moment we arrived that our party of 8 were in for a treat. After our coats were taken care of we were able to order drinks in a lounge area whilst our table was getting ready as we arrived 15...minutes early in excitement of what was to come. The drinks list was unbelievably comprehensive with so many more drinks than I’ve seen at any other restaurant around the world. Unsurprisingly everyone got their desired drink as the menu simply had it all ranging from a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Once we were told our table was ready we stood up expecting to be taken to a dining hall full of other guests. WRONG. We were instead taken to a room with just one table for our party of 8. This is something I had never experienced before and the idea was just wonderful as the whole meal we could sit in peace without the distraction and noise of other guests which seems to be the case at every other restaurant I’ve ever attended. Upon being seated we were asked what we wanted to drink whilst the menus were distributed. The menu had three courses, all of which had three options. Word is that the menus changes daily but can’t confirm that having only dined their once, but I certainly wouldn’t complain about this menu as the dishes all sounded brilliant. For the first course I had oysters three ways. All three oysters were of high quality and tasted wonderful. For the second course I had a fish dish which was very filling but also very satisfactory. The last course almost had to be the most impressive dish I’ve ever seen. It was a cheese board which is rather typical for a last course menu. Except this one was so large and had so many types of cheese, crackers and fruit you would have thought it was designed for 4 people. Whilst I managed to try every type of cheese and cracker there was no way I was going to finish it myself so had help from the rest of my group who had all ordered other dishes that were comparably a lot smaller than mine. Along with our last course we had after meal drinks before being allowed to roam the Huka Lodge Property. First of all we were allowed to walk around the restaurant which we found to have other private sitting areas as well. Then we continued outside to the see the well maintained gardens and lawn and to see the Huka Falls itself. It was an enjoyable walk around being able to deeply admire our surroundings. Unfortunately this was the end of our awesome three hour visit to the Huka Lodge property. We all left with only positive things to say about the dining experience. This would definitely be the best dining experience I’ve ever had. This was definitely down to the staff that operated the restaurant as everything seemed to be flawless and the chefs did an amazing job of impressing our whole group with their cooking abilities. Overall I would most certainly recommend this place for those that don’t mind digging deep in order to have a very memorable meal. I most certainly look forward to being able to eat here in the future when I’m in the area.More

My wife and I enjoyed our experience at Huka Lodge overall. We travelled with our near 2yro son and at times he can be a little bit loud as most 2yro are. We felt upon arrival that the management team didn’t love the idea of...a child being at the lodge especially and active one. We felt these streamed from Kerry down through the management staff. Because of our arrival being a bit full on with the child we missed the lodge tour, therefore later realising that you need to book certain rooms each night for dinner to which we would have missed out without some good fortune, on having dinner in the wine cellar etc - it worked out but more by luck. If this was so important we felt management should have attended to the tour later after our arrival to assist in the understanding of how the lodge works especially with preplanning. We would recommend the management reviewing the way they handle children, the little comments etc, if you allow children you should embrace them - otherwise become an adult only Lodge. Moving on from that we enjoyed our time overall. The standard wait staff and Somm were lovely and very attentive. The food was very creative but at times too creative rather than just enjoyable - happens with standard 5 star restaurants. Rooms were great and clean. Everything needed supplied. Overall, it was a great lodge, a lot of history, wonderful grounds, excellent breakfast - I think it would be a different experience as a couple rather than a family. Our preference would be the Robertson Lodges over Huka for as long we have children with us.More

We dined here while staying at the lodge. I have to say it was as if two chefs different chefs came up with the menu. There were some really interesting well-cooked dishes. And some that just missed the mark on either flavor pairings or textures....The lunch tie menu seemed to be a lot better executed than the dinner menu which was more hit and missMore

Going to dinner at Huka Lodge is not just going to dinner but a dining experience. My husband and I had booked to have dinner to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary with 2 friends. The whole evening was just perfect! The staff were very welcoming and...friendly, their service was expert, knowledgable and obliging with a last minute change of course for one of our friends. We had pre dinner drinks in a cosy room with a fireplace and mingled with the other guests (shame it was dark as we imagined the views to be amazing!), and the delicious canapes were a taste of things to come. What we weren't expecting was a private dining room but perfect really as we could be ourselves. Having eaten in some very fine restaurants around the world, the five courses were absolutely sublime, show casing the very best of New Zealand food. The evening ended back in front of the fireplace with cheeses and petit fours - so dificult to know when to stop eating!! A huge thank you to all the staff for making our special evening such a memorable experience, and can't wait to come back and celebrate another occasion!More
