My husband and I had another great meal on Sunday 20 October 2019 served by the welcoming smile of Smita in their very pleasant restaurant. We did not stay in the hotel as we are Taupo locals and find this our favourite dining out option.

Shift worker included in our group, we were looking for something no frills and tasty, and being late in the day we were pleasantly surprised by the menu and the accommodating staff. A nice drive out of chaotic Taupo, we will be back.
WOW, one of the best high teas ever. Even comparable to the Ritz, the food selection was superb, actually we couldn’t eat all the scrumptious cakes so we had a doggy bag. Coffee was great as well. Staff awesome, praises to the chef, and to...top it off we used gold card for discount.More
We stayed at the resort and utilised the restaurants onsite. This one had a buffet sunday roast dinner. It was absolutely delicious. Great variety of roast meats and veges, as well as salads, kids foods, sticky date pudding and other yummy deserts. Must book, dont...expect it to be empty.More
Across the road from Wairakei Terraces. Excellent service and food including a selection of wraps and slices in the cabinet. Also had the chef's special of a pizza and chips for $15
Had been there on many occasions but this was the best so far all praises to the chef and the staff for the great food and service.Keep it up
The soup was wonderful and also half Fish'nChips is a good lunch size Lots of Dusky Sounds Sauvignon Blanc
Always have had great soups here - highly recommend. Popular cafe that I have been going to for years - never had a bad meal here.
Not the first time we have eaten here. I feel the term cafe is a little derogatory, it is so much better than that. Beautifully cooked gammon ham with a dessert selection. Very friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble. Strongly recommend this 'cafe' nestled in...the delightful setting of the golfing world.More
We booked into here for Good Friday dinner. We were not guests at the resort, but booked in for a night of Culinary Cultures of the World. At $30 per person, it was quite pricey to take the whole family, but we thought why not!!...We turned up ontime and where shown to our table. The venue was old, wallpaper and paint peeling, decor very dated. The restaurant was crammed. The outside setting was nice, but it was too cold. We were invited to make our way up to the buffet tables, to load up our plates. The selection was appalling!!! Instead of cultures of the world, the menu had changed to Asian cuisine, which included Rice, Rice Risotto, Sweet and Sour Pork, Singapore Noodles, Chicken and salad. That was it!!! Rubbish!! The food at our local Chinese takeaway shop had more selection and tasted better. Desert was Fruit salad which included old fruit and was yuck, a sticky muck they had the hide to call rice pudding and a terrible tasting mango mouse. All in all a terrible meal, so bad we were Disgusted when the bill came to over $200. I would rather have had McDonalds to be honest. We will not be back, ever!!More
