Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

L’arte cafe is a short drive from the busy centre of Taupo. Set in rolling bush at Acaccia Bay you first see pottery and mosaic work set among the trees and lawns. The cafe is well staffed with young enthusiastic locals, the food is superb, and in a busy day the wait was more than acceptable. We will be back.

We have been here often and it is certainly worth the short drive out of Taupo proper. Food, service and coffee at the cafe was very good although did think the beef burger lacked a little in taste and plate presentation. A wander around the grounds to see some great mosaic pieces. A visit to the gallery usually means we take something home with us too. Would we visit again, for sure!

Visited with friends from Taupo as we’d not been here before so was great to try something new. Nice combination of craft and food. We only did coffee but enjoyed the ambiance and surrounds. We had a dog and it was a bit confusing whether they were allowed or not. Sign said no dogs in the deck yet the staff we happy to provide drinking water for our pet.

Nice cafe, apart from the very cold metal benches outside. The food for the rest of us came reasonable quickly, but mine did not. after two enquiries of a waitress, and one of the manager or owner, my lunch arrived after everyone else had finished theirs. With no apology at all. I shall not be lunching there again.

We visited L'Arte Cafe for Brunch after reading great reviews of the Cafe and we are both suckers for food and art. We enjoyed the drive to the Cafe along the lake. We ordered a Chai Latte and Mocha which were both great and The L’Arte feast and eggs benedict with salmon and spinach. These filled the spot and even though the weather was cold and damp we still enjoyed a stroll around the gardens after checking out the mosaics and other stunning artwork. A great place to come as a group.

Can highly recommend the brioche donuts! Friendly staff, nice setting, fun mosaics. Nice way to spend an hour on a Sunday morning!

The food is delicious and the surroundings simply fantastic! Mosaic everywhere. Fabulous green to wander around in and a gift shop if you fancy. We love this place.

The tea and coffee was perfectly fine. The atmosphere was awful. Take earplugs if you’re sitting inside (unless you’re hard of hearing). The acoustics amplify all of the kitchen noise and unfortunately on our visit all we could hear was cutlery being thrown in the stainless kitchen sink as well as what seemed like every pot and pan being banged together. It was an awful experience and not a place we’d ever venture back to. The art gallery store has some lovely items but again our visit was marred by the very loud conversation taking place out the back. Overall verdict-it’s not worth the drive and there is much better coffee and cafe atmosphere to be found in town.

The scuptures, mosiacs and art were incredible and of such a high standard. There was also a little store to buy products. Such a wonderful experience however the GF and vegetarian food was extremely average in terms of quality and flavour. I would reccommend coming here to view the art but if you require GF, DF, vegan or vegetarian food, eat before you visit.

We are on holiday and a friend recommended this place. I’m glad we went. Lunch was very good. My lamb dish was very tasty. The Mexican bowl was big and presented well. We’ll be back next time we are in the area.

We came here for a walk around the garden with our elderly mother. It is a short and interesting walk. Lots to see with a well priced shop. Great for gift buying. Finish with a snack and tea or lunch at the cafe.

A bit of a destination location given that it's a little off the beaten track but well worth finding. The ceramic pieces around the garden and in the shop (even in the cafe) are not high art - and probably better for that. Great place to buy gifts.

Food is a little pricey but the place is gorgeous. The mosaics are terrific worth popping in just to walk the garden and see the store. Definitely something different

Almost everyone in our group had eggs benedict which I usually prefer on toasted muffins but the mash they served instead was very tasty. For a busy cafe they were very on the ball with timing. Nice to know they are licenced if you want a bubbly with your brunch. The garden art is so colourful and cleverly executed. Mosaic art was the highlight for me. It's out in the country and the car park gets full but there's plenty of road-side parking and places to lounge on the grass while waiting for a table to come free.
