This cafe is just beautiful inside. It has a wide range of cafe food- menu or from the cabinet. Everything looked good! The coffee is excellent. Definitely call in here.

Whatever you do, don't order a seafood chowder soup. It's awful. It's nothing like a nice a creamy chowder with seafood pieces. This cafe's seafood chowder looks like gloop. Coffee not bad, bacon and eggs are niceMore

I should have read the previous reviews but being in a hurry with my 5 friends and we were hungry ignoring the warning signs … young staff with no experience wouldn’t normally be a problem but they were so scared. Overcharged two of my friends...I had a cold horrible eggs Bene and the smashed avo my friend was asked if she wanted fried eggs instead of poached. Terrible service with terrible food recognition. Great Menu, excellent tea and coffee, super friendly service. Staff and really efficient. Lovely indoor atmosphere and outdoor street dining. Had lunch there but can't wait to come back for an evening meal.

Visiting taupo with friends on the weekend and went for brunch. I ordered the avocado and Feta with poached egg on sourdough for $18. Not impressed... only one piece of sourdough with ice-cold avocado which made the one egg cold on top. Not worth the...money. My friend ordered eggs toast and bacon.. on multigrain bread. She got 2 toast..2 eggs and bacon. All for 17.50.More

Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids went in for brunch but were disappointed with the value for money and the service provided. The kids just wanted a bowl of fries but weren’t told until the food was at the table that it was...only Kumara fries left. The smoothie that was ordered was forgotten about until we were nearly about to leave and it didn’t feature much in the way of fresh fruit. Lots of what looked like syrup. The mince on toast looked and tasted great. However the feta avocado and poached egg was def not worth the $18 charged for it. It was one tiny piece of sourdough. For that price it should have had double what was served, in my opinion based on other restaurants we have been to. So many great places to eat in Taupo, so will be trying those next time.More

We visited Piccolo on Boxing Day. We were pleased to have found a cafe in Taupo which was not crowded. We both selected 2 items from the cabinet which were a small salmon quiche which we were advised came with a small side salad and...my husband selected a ham croissant, which didn't come with a salad, plus 2 regular cappuccinos. When we were about to pay, the man on the till said that a surcharge was going to be applied as it was a public holiday and we were charged $44 for the 4 items. We were not told what the surcharge was, nor did we see it advertised anywhere that it would be charged before we made our selection. We didn't say anything at the time but felt that what we paid was too much for what we ordered. I would like to point out also that during our stay in both Taupo and Rotorua, Piccalo was the only eatery which added a surcharge.More

We along with another couple all thought we were not getting value for money for a lunch costing about $100 for coffees and a light lunch from the cabinet. Service was great, but food was bland / tasteless.

I've been here twice while visiting Taupo and the food was awesome both times. The staff are very friendly too.
