I visited at lunchtime and the cafe was quite busy however I was able to find a space on a shared table. There was a very good selection of cabinet food and the display made it very hard to choose. I chose the mini carrot cake which was moist and was well decorated with cream cheese icing and topped with seeds and dried fruit. I also ordered a club sandwich which had good filings and tasted fresh. All products are baked in-store. The staff were very cheerful and helpful.

We had a combination of cabinet food and cooked food and everything was delicious and we would highly recommend. The salads, doughnuts, BLT. Very much looking forward to going back and trying something else. Would have given 5 stars except for cleanliness. Our table was really dirty - it had been cleaned before we sat down but not wiped very well - and most of the empty tables weren’t cleared. The cafe wasn’t full and there were plenty of staff. I think the staff were lovely, they just didn’t appear to notice the dirty tables or dishes that could have been removed from empty tables whilst on their way back to the kitchen. Couldn’t fault the food though.

Absolutely addicted to Baked with Love and all their ventures, from market donuts to the old Marama Arcade Eatery and thrilled at the new larger eatery- which is a welcome addition to the Taupo cafe scene. The eatery itself is spacious, crisp and clean and you’re instantly greeted by friendly staff and the insatiable smell of Cafe L'affare beans. By far the best brew in town, where one flat white is never enough. The cabinet is a visual delight of baked goods and sweet treats. Good luck deciding! Can recommend the pumpkin tart and basically anything on or around the sweet cabinet. If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a menu- bacon and eggs are a morning must! Grateful to have such an institution in Taupo and looking forward to many more visits.

We visited on Friday lunch time as a group of 4. We asked for our table to be cleared/wiped, this was started by one staff member and then she didn't return. After about 5 - 10 minutes we flagged down another staff member who completed the task. After receiving our savoury and sweet cabinet food (nice but expensive), we waited a minimum of 30 minutes to receive our coffee (we were not advised of a wait), which even though we asked for our long blacks extra hot (as the two previous visits we had received warm coffee), these were still only warm. The cups definitely weren't heated. We did not send them back as the initial wait was so long!! The two girl baristas didn't seem in a rush at all and one not overly confident. There are too many other great cafes in Taupo to choose from - we won't hurry back!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that your experience didn’t meet your or our expectations. But a couple of points of clarification. Friday lunchtime is a very busy time, as you attest by sitting at a table that hadn’t been cleared. So delays are always possible and the delays should have been communicated to your party. We will continue to work on that. In your original message to us you said that the wait was about 30 minutes, now you are saying it was a minimum of 30 minutes, but our records show that the longest wait on coffee at Friday lunchtime was 21 minutes (which is still far too long). Black coffees can not be made “extra hot” as the boiler temperatures are set. However, it would appear that one of our baristas didn’t check that the cups were warmed prior to using them (which can be an issue during busy periods as they don’t have time to warm on the machine). We are providing further training to all baristas on ensuring cups are warm prior to use. And finally was the barista who didn’t appear overly confident the one that you yelled at a couple of times? Even when we are busy and there are delays, having customers verbally abusing our staff is not acceptable.

As locals this is our favourite Cafe in Taupo for morning tea and lunch and we visit on a regular basis. The cabinet food is great - both sweet treats snd savoury and is always beautifully presented and delivered with a smile by their friendly professional staff. Sweet treats are quite expensive but are all very special and totally worth the extra little cost. Coffee is consistently good too (long blacks), no matter which Barista is on.

Met a friend here for brekky. Some interesting stuff in the cabinet and choices on the menu. Including a build your own brekky. So I ordered toast, baked beans and bacon. Our friend poached eggs on toast andy partner scrambled eggs on toast and tomato plus coffees. I was a tad shocked when the plates arrived . The toast was really tough!!!!?? I had 2 measly rashers of bacon and about 3 dessert spoons of beans. Scrambled eggs looked OK and you can't really mess up poached eggs. If you are hungry I would go for the cabinet food. Coffee was a 5.5.

Not sure what happened with your toast, it’s made with our own sourdough beard baked on site daily, I’ll check that out with the kitchen. With regards to the bacon, at says on the menu that is 2 pieces. You can order more. I’m assuming you ordered a large coffee, as our regular flat white is 4.9.

Absolutely mouth watering food in the cabinet! Honestly, could have taken it all home with us. The French toast is the best I’ve had from a cafe. Good serving size too. So many goodies, we also purchased two glass jars full of peanut brittle. They have a selection of takeaway goodies and gifts. Staff were friendly which added to the positive experience. Will be back!!

Lovely atmosphere and food. Had to wait in line for 10 minutes and told coffee would be a 15 minute wait. In the end it took 35 minutes to arrive and after ordering extra hot coffee it arrived luke warm. Baristas didn’t seem to be in any hurry.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Sorry that your experience wasn't up to your and our expectations. Yes, over the weekend we did have a period when the wait time on coffee got out to 30 minutes. This was partly due to the rush (a 10 minute waiting to order) and partly because we had issues with the grind and had to adjust it to get it right. With regards to the temperature of your drink, we think we have figured it out. Due to the high demand we were going through cups really fast and the clean ones weren't heated (like the ones off the top of the espresso machine and one of our new Baristas weren't pre-heating the cups with hot water prior to making drinks. We have added this into our training so that it won't happen in the future.

It was morning time and what a pretty nice looking place. All fresh and clean. I ordered at counter and when I sat down I then realised they had a menu and the cabinet wasn’t all they make. The chairs are uncomfortable for me. Hard metal. Food was lovley to look at and the banoffe cake was very nice. The bacon egg pie/tart was soggy on the base and a little crumbly. Great choice on eat in menu which we will order off next time. Very nice polite and attentive staff. I had a quick google and looks like they also have an amazing cake making facility. Definitely one place to take friends. Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The metal chairs are part of the industrial look of our Eatery. We are still working on promoting our menu as well as our awesome cabinet food. I suspect your tart with taken off the grill too quickly (before it could crisp up the base. We have provided more training to our great front of house team on playing.

We live in Taupo and have been to this cafe on many occasions for coffee and cakes so thought today we would have a breakfast… big mistake! It’s called a “Big Breakfast” on the menu but it’s not big at all! I asked for GF and the two pieces of small toasted bread was stale, the small amount of bacon was very fatty along with the partly raw scrambled egg, one sausage and baked beans, was just not appetising. My wife’s eggs bene was small and also not up to standard and at $62 in total it, was far from cheap and we expected more out of them! When asked by the waitress if it was ok, I said that the bread that I had left on the plate was stale… annoyingly, she thought I was some kind of idiot and said that all GF bread is harder than normal bread even though she doesn’t eat it. So I told her that her comment was rubbish and that I eat it all the time, she then begrudgingly said she will mention it to the chef… but no faith in that! The moral of this for us was to stick with the coffee and cakes in future and hope we don’t get a stale cake!

Randomly came across this stunning cafe while looking for coffee. They were just bringing freshly baked cinnamon pastries from the oven and that sold us, so delicious. Customer service amazing, very clean and nice place, the sweets in the window great presentation.

Dropped in to do a spot of writing after a friend's encouragement to check this café out. After the best mousetrap I've ever had, I lingered over my peppermint tea and a delightfully moist salted-caramel dark-chocolate layered cake. Probably shouldn't eat for a few days now, but it was so worth it!

I had to come visit this cafe after reading great reviews of it and I wasn't disappointed. Even visiting on a work day after lunch the place still had many customers. The containers and cute lights inside make it a cosy yet stylish place to enjoy the gorgeous cakes, bagels and more there is to offer. We enjoyed a large caramel brownie and salmon bagel which were perfect.

Our first visit was to buy donuts which were awesome. The next day we went for brunch which was also excellent, lovely coffee and great service. The cabinet food was amazing and we wished we were in Taupō longer to try all the delicious looking food. We will definitely be back next time we are in Taupō.
