This is a very good restaurant. We were attracted by the 2 for 1 roast. It turned out to be New Zealand roast lamb served with all the trimmings including mint sauce. Very good value for money.
Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend the food here, it's on par with fine dining prices but is served like a pub (which it should be). They do offer daily specials such as 2 for 1 burgers, pies and roast dinners but would be better if they offered these everyday rather than 1 special per day. The burgers came on a tiny... More
We went here for dinner on New Years Day, bit of a wet evening so not too far from where we were staying. Food was good and quickly came. Husband enjoyed the Guinness. Not a big place but we managed to get a nice corner table, got busy later
Stop here for quick bite before heading to beach. Nice food reasonable prices and nice service. Had some happy hour drinks and chips
We went on Wednesday night they had 2 Guinness and beef pies for $20 the pies were very tasty and freshly made came with mashed potatoes peas and gravy quite large could hardly eat it all it was a good meal at a good price also had a great atmosphere I would recommend it to anyone
Called in for lunch craving a pie. Had The Black Harp steak one which I thoroughly enjoyed. Quiet when we visited but I am sure normally very busy. Even able to overspill onto the pavement using small tables mounted to windowsills. Only criticism was lack of light but overcame this, as had a choice of where to sit, by choosing... More
Popped in for a Guinness and a game. I loved the decor and the vibe. Good drinks list and lots of pub grub options - but a bit more than that. Terrific installed sound system and great music playing made for ambience that saw me return.
Having always been a fan for two for one deals went to Black Harp for a quick dinner. Venue very cool. Sat in library area with historic books on shelves and stuffed animals a-plenty. Had salt and pepper squid for entree. Tasty but overcooked and very oily. Had burgers for main. Beef patty bland as and chicken breast over cooked... More
Passing through New Plymouth, I assume locals know. The Black Harp is worthy of a stop. Three different meals, steak, burger and chicken pie. Everyone's response 'great'. There was a forth meal... on the tabke next to us 'pork belly' which looked very nice.
