The Nikau restaurant has a warm inviting atmosphere enhanced by a glowing log fire. We were able to find meals to suit our vegan requirements and they were excellent. Service was efficient but at the same time friendly. We would recommend this restaurant especially if...staying at the Millinium.More

The food was terrible and extremely overpriced. The steak tasted like it was boiled, the lamb shank tasted microwaved, the pizza was doughy and the kids chicken tenders were like cardboard. The only available soft drinks in the bar and restaurant were Pepsi and Pepsi...max, no lemonade. The bar was supposed to be opened until 9pm but they closed well before that. I do not recommend at all, don't waste your money.More

Dined here as part of the hotel stay and dine. Not many options Garlic bread was a bit soggy and smothered with cheese Lamb shank was ok Beef burger was a burnt around the edges and crumbly homemade mess and bun was clearly supermarket bought....Dessert was 3 balls of ice cream with 100's and 1000's and a wafer cone on top ( again supermarket cheap)....why was a kid dessert in an adult menu at all??!?! Had to send wine back twice...first time with a bug floating in it and second time a very dirty glass. Also wines are only listed by brand and not grape variety...not good when charged $14 for a glass. To their credit they only charged for one glass of wine. Ambience is a bit poor, lighting could do with a bit more strategy. Tables are bare and so not very inviting. Our waiter was working hard trying to please but one person cannot make up for many downfalls from an entire estabilshment.More

The staff were friendly and helpful when deciding what to eat, there is a new chef and new winter menu which was awesome. Couldn't fault any of our dishes.

Planned our evening around returning to this restaurant for dessert and drinks. Was told closing time was 11pm. Tuned up at 9:45 to be refused entry. So disappointing and no explanation or apology offered.

I dined here for a quick meal while staying at the hotel. The staff serving were super friendly and asked about my day and made polite conversation. I ordered seafood chowder which was delicious and arrived in good time. I would be happy to dine...here again and there was no need to book in advance.More

I hadn't been to Nikau restaurant, for our few years, and I was very pleasantly surprised on the menu choice. It was great as I expected the standard traditional hotel menu but got some very inspiring menu choices. I was pleased the party I was...with chose different options as I wanted to see the dishes. The service was very much above average and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant has to make this a great choice to dine at.More

It's just located inside the Millennium Hotel, where we stayed during the visit to Rotorua. The food are well presented and tasty, and the service is excellent. It's a smart choice for dinner.
