I rang at 6pm and booked for 7 for wife and I. There was 10 other people there. 1st girl didn't see our booking until the other girl came over and pointed to my name. Seated, then another lady came in, sat down and few...min later was given cabbage and dip to clean the pallet. We didn't get so I thought they might bring soon, but not. We ordered a few things to start that was great, food always good. We asked to order more and was told by a very stressed chef it would be half hr or more as a table of 7 had put in a big order. Bollocks I thought but just said that terrible and unfair so we left. If busy each person should only be allowed to order 1 or 2 things at a time to make it fair on all customers. We've been going there since time began but never again. 1 out of 10.More

We have always eaten here for many years when visiting Rotorua, and the food is always wonderful. We’ll be back, as always!

Mr Yakitor has regular visitors who return every time they visit Rotorua. It is my 2nd visit and it was as good as the first. Simple quick and tasty with a great atmosphere. It pays to book given it is a quaint little restaurant that...is very popular. It’s a nice change from Eat Street.More

An excellent dining experience in a typical Japanese street style setting, felt like a small hole in the wall urban Tokyo restaurant. Both the food prepared by the Japanese chef and the service were beyond reproach. It was notable that whilst our party of six...were dining we were outnumbered by the Japanese also eating at this venue. Nothing like seeing the people whom hail from a foods home country enjoying their meals to show the quality of the offeringsMore

Very disappointed in my pork on skewers as it was dry and unappetising, so total waste of money. Fried rice and Miso soup were tasty.

We popped in here just prior to a prize giving so we're a bit short on time and ordered early. It is only a small restaurant but the food is amazing... Incredible even.. we ordered the option 2. Perfect meal. Everything was mouth watering. May...need to book given its popularity.More

Great little restaurant - bookings mainly needed. Set menus are easy to use and good value. Cabbage and mayo starter is always very fresh.I love the miso soup and to finish with green tea ice cream and lychees-Yum. Also easy to add on skewers if...you need to. Great to see your food being cooked in front of you .And the service is usually very good.More

A great little restaurant to share some yummy food at a good price. The menu offers a good range of food and you won't leave hungry.

Possibly the worst experience at any restaurant ever in New Zealand. Accepted it was a busy night, however it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get a drink, 1 hour and 30 minutes to get a bowl of miso soup and 2 hours to...get our first skewer. Most of the meat was over cooked, the prawns and pork was burnt. The scallops were good but the steak was so badly over cooked it was almost inedible. Food bad, service bad. Seating comfort bad. Come here if you want a good moan so there is plenty to choose from.More
