We had a great dinner as a family early in out NZ holiday. We had a great experience and loved the food but my 10yr old daughter insisted on leaving her own review: Paco's is an amazing restraunt with a friendly welcoming environment, the friendly staff were excellent and spot on with their food recommendations, the food was absolutely delicious with each dish bursting with flavour, you will leave wanting to come back again as we will if we return to Rotorua.

A great place to relax, have a great meal, good wine in a friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is located upstairs not quite what you might expect, however it's well worth a visit. We were immediately made to feel welcome and even though all tables were booked space was made for us to eat at the bar. Poco had a varied wine selection over the standard you find in most NZ restaurants and the Liquid Tiramisu cocktail was amazing.

We chose Poco tapas and wine restaurant to celebrate my husband’s 65 th Birthday . The food redefines our dining experience with its creative menu that is different from what we usually encounter in other restaurants. We chose the set menu recommended by chef Jeff and they were delicious. The flavours were elevated, with each bite offering something new and exciting. The service was a standout. The staff were very accomodating and helpful. My family and friends enjoyed the night and we highly recommend the place for simple dinner or any celebration .

My wife and I left our son at the hotel with takeaway so we could have a rare dinner for two. We had the Chef's menu where we were presented with a selection of dishes chosen by the restaurant. The meal was a bit overbalanced in favour of starters and sides (even for Tapas) with just one main dish - admittedly very nice lamb shoulder. Service was average with staff being unclear about how many dishes were coming out and what was in them. Dessert was also very slow in coming out for some reason. Our experience wasn't terrible. The food was generally pretty good, but the whole dining experience and value wasn't up to the high standard set by other restaurants we visited on our holiday.

We dined here last night and what a fantastic surprise. We had falafel celeriac carpaccio with picked apple Beef skewers and yellow tail king fish. The love and passion put into these dishes was extraordinary. Beautifully presented and the flavours danced on your tongue. This place is inspiring. Kirsty and Maddie looked after us beautifully and made our visit great fun. The restaurant was very busy and people trying to get a table but at no time did we feel rushed. But I would book to avoid disappointment. Thank you team for exceptional food which will be a highlight of our visit to NZ

've never had a negative experience at Poco and last night was no different. I brought a couple clients to dinner on a busy Friday night. We were warmly greeted at the door and our reserved table was ready upon arrival. The menus were presented to each of us and our server explained how the tapas service works and provided recommendations on how many dishes to consider ordering. Such a great touch! From there, the night continued to flow perfectly, which, as per usual, what highlighted with the delicious food that my clients and I LOVED. Hot tip: Poco serves seasonal produce, so if you're dining this winter, immediately order the blue cheese fondue when you place your drinks order. That way, that dish is being prepped while you decide what else you want to order for the night. This dish is heavenly!!

A really interesting place: informal atmosphere, friendly staff, dishes presented as tapas to share, but really delicious for a careful choice of raw materials and because more sought after than others found in the area. The cocktails are also good. Not cheap but the price is appropriate to the level.

Having visited Rotorua, many times and dined at the usual places, we were looking for something a little off-piste and Poco appealed. The upstairs room is light and airy with the view to the kitchen and bar adding to the ambience. The service was friendly, professional and attentive, and the relatively small shared plate menu appear to cover all the bases. The four dishes we chose on our first visit were all superb, as was the beer and wine selection. Ideal for couples and even small groups of 4-6. We look forward to returning with friends and whanau.

Lets’s start with the fact that there were only a dozen items on the menu. Then throw in that 2 of the first 3 we tried to order were unavailable. Then they came back and told us that the cocktail I ordered was unavailable. And then throw in that despite making the reservation weeks in advance they seated us at the table in front of the kitchen door, despite 4 other tables for 2 being available when we checked in. It’s the first time in 30 years, I walked out of a restaurant after being seated.

Hi Bruce, Thanks very much for your review. We appreciated your early departure, as the staff shouldn't have to deal with someone as rude as yourself. We run a seasonal 14 item menu that changes often. The seafood that you tried to order is fresh and locally sourced, and unfortunately when the weather is bad the boats don't go out, so our supplier has nothing to send. Cheers

I booked dinner at Poco before we travelled to New Zealand based on the menu and ratings and was absolutely not disappointed. I'm still thinking about that blue cheese fondue - my favourite dish of our entire 10 day trip to NZ, and our kids loved the fried chicken. The cocktails were delish. The service was some of the best we experienced, with the staff generously giving us recommendations for our next destinations in terms of restaurants to try and activities. Definitely one not to miss when in Rotorua.

Our group enjoyed the food here so much and were still talking about it the following day, it was that good! We are so glad we ordered the blue cheese fondue as an afterthought - even our non blue-cheese eaters in the group could appreciate it, and it was soo yummy. We ordered extra of the fried chicken and broccolini/chickpea salad but would recommend everything, honestly.

My family and I visited Poco last night and had an excellent time. The food was exceptional it was really hard to pick a favorite - everything was superb. It was pricey but consideredering the food was at a standard I couldn't replicate at home I think it was worth it. Definitely the place to go for a special occasion. And a big shout out to the staff who went out of their way to make it a special night for my family. Thank you Poco!

What a great dinner! We got a referral from Volcanic Hills Winery, and then Poco served us what they wanted us to sample. Delicious dishes, every single one. Imaginative bartender as well!. The kind of small restaurant that you want to come and be welcomed and enjoy

We visited last night for my partners birthday. We were very impressed. The food and drinks were great, but the absolute standout was definitely the service. The two young ladies who served us were extremely knowledgeable in their product, they could go into great deal when making suggestions. On the one occasion that something wasn't available when she came to tell us, she already had a suggested replacement in mind. We will defiantly be back.

Pure serendipity we found this place - we found a random place to park and there it was. It bills itself as a tapas bar, and it exceeds that brief by serving up fabulous not so small dishes that are original (to us), tasty and fresh. Particularly liked the Baba Ganoush and the Australian crab cake on toast Friendly, welcoming staff and the best sign of all - busy early evening Only possible downside is it appears to be only accessible by stairs.
