In town for a couple of days and wanting to try something a little different, Tunisian spices with some extra flair. I ordered Ali Barba pasta and wow what amazing flavours, a little spicy but not overpowering, and a huge serving. My partner ordered Najem...pizza with a mix of very generous spicy toppings, left overs for lunch tomorrow.
All together a fantastic well priced meal, a warm welcoming atmosphere and charming host.More
If you are visiting Rotorua, you must try and eat at Ali Baba's Tunisian Restaurant. This family-run restaurant is cosy with friendly staff and delicious meals.
The pizzas are one of the best! We personally have not found better pizzas in Rotorua!
Berber rice is...delicious with the right spices. I like the rice with chicken, but my kids love the lamb rice as well.
The taste of their meals is so different that you will definitely come to visit Ali Baba again. The cost of meals is very reasonable and the serving size is generous.
For dessert, you must try Baklawa, which is indeed one of the best that we have tasted in New Zealand!
We will definitely visit Ali Baba's again!More
Delicious food in a warm and cosy restaurant, with lots of interesting decorations. The berber on rice was SO yum, with falafels that oozed flavour. Our next trip to Rotorua will definitely include a trip back here to try something else of the interesting menu.
Traveled to Rotorua after a long and difficult Hike at Tongariro, and eating at AliBaba was like finally breathing life into our bodies!
Amazing food, friendly service, central location.
Can't dream of anything better!
Delicious fresh food, warm environment, and lovely staff! Ramsey and his lovely son cooked us such beautifully spiced, spectacular food that we came back the next day to try more. Everything was absolutely wonderful and both my husband and I appreciated the authenticity of the...food and spices and the friendliness of the staff. The Lebanese bread is exceptional as are the lamb, mint sauce, salads-really everything. Make sure you try the walnut and fig dessert and the chocolate halva!More
The best Kascrute in the country. Fantastic flavour and great value food. I have had the pizza and pasta before both are very tasty. I have been visiting for 15 years and the food is healthy, tasty and reasonably priced
Came in after finding on trip advisor, not having eaten Tunisian before. Love the fusion of North African and Mediterranean flavours. Dine in or takeaway. Recommend the Kascrute, enjoyed it so much for lunch yesterday, came back today. You won't leave hungry.
First time at Ali Baba's and first time having Tunisian
We went there on Good Friday, of course the place
was very bussy and you could see the staff (I should
say the family, as it is a couple and their son) doing
their...best. We ordered and the waiter (the son) let us
know which dishes were the fastest and the delay
that may be in other mains, we were on holidays and
we were more than happy to wait while having a
Turkish Melon soda.
We ordered a Tajine Jelbana and a kascrute (Lamb
Both dishes were AMAZING!!! The flavours and
spiciness of the harissa in the tajine, and the
amazingly tenderness (for real, i think this is the
most tender chunks of lamb i've ever had) and
flavour layers of the Kascrute, thw home made bread
was extremelly delicious!
I have never been to a Tunisian cuisine restaurant
before but i am sure that i am gonna have a hard
time trying to find a place as authentic, fresh and
The staff (The whole family) were amazingly friendly
and we left a well deserved tip.
