Here at the Takeaways, we cook to order and provide a range of good quality, affordable takeaways for you, your family and friends to enjoy. You can call in your orders to have them ready for you to pick up if you wish or just pop on in and grab a magazine, or a friendly chat with the locals while you wait. We bake our Burger Buns daily from scratch along with our pizza bases, we have also provide fish and chips and other deep fried things! Come take a look for yourself! For a current menu - please come in store as it does change now and then!

I think the new owners have had some ups and downs, but yesterday we had good burgers, spicy chicken and nice chips. When they first took over things were top notch, but a couple of months ago we really weren't happy with the burgers we got. I'm sure everyone's had some stress after lockdowns etc. Things seem to be on the up again now, so we'll look forward to trying again soon. If anyone has any concerns, I hope they'll kindly message or chat to the owners to try and help them do better.

Cruising through with family. With all the positive reviews can see why people come in from Pahia to get there chips - really nice + crunchy. Recommended.

Friendly service, great prices and the food is good too!

Costs advertised online and on the inhouse Price List appeared at variance with what we were charged. Extra $1 for each item crumbed.
Small servings. Chunky fries not chunky. Scallops fresh. Panko mussels very small. Battered hoki fish appeared to be factory frozen precut fillets.
Difficult to know when shop would be open. Details not on website, not on doors/windows of premises.

Had a mussell fritter .. no mussel in it at all. Not one little piece!
Just slimy bread crumbs red onion and mixed with mussel water ... really overpriced.
Fish not fresh. Been frozen and chips greasy.
Shame because it used to be the best takeaways in the bay ... now the worst in the north.

I believe this has recently changed hands, and when we were there the owner clearly did not want to be there, in fact was overheard saying that on a phone call.
Food was mediocre and disappointing, and so slow several people gave up waiting and walked out. Such a shame when it used to be so good ☹

After the take over by the new owners we have given several attempts to have a good meal but we never go here now. The fish was dry and not fresh at all. Burger patties have got really small and undercooked. Pizza bases chewy and chicken is not fresh quality. Such a shame 😕 as we only live a few doors away and used to order here regularly. The previous owners HAD a GREAT thriving business all the locals really loved.

We turned up at 7:55pm last week and despite having put everything away for the evening, they made a huge special effort to get it all out again and cook us our fishcakes, fish and chips. Bloody good job guys!! The food was absolutely spot on...!! If you visit Haruru Falls you gotta get some fish and chips from these guys......!!!

If you are visiting the Bay of Islands and want the Best burgers and chips
this is the place to go. The fish was delisicious and good size.

Tried them for the first time with friends last week. The fish was beautifully cooked, the chips crisp and quantities impressive (not a diet meal). They would have been rated higher if they offered more than one choice of fish (Hoki) and the ability to do crumbed as well battered fillets. However, the meal was so nice, easily the best in the Bay I would say, even compared to the famous Mangonui shop. They also do burgers, which looked good but we weren’t there for those.

We did the Haruru Falls Track walk starting and finishing at Club Paiha. We walked to the Waitangi Treaty house end to start and returned via the main road.
We stopped at Haruru Falls Takeaways to re-fuel.
Great selection. Great service. Very clean. Good value. Pleasant area outside to eat your purchases.
We ordered fish burgers each with a small side of chips. What a meal. We didn't think we would be able to eat it all, but it was so delicious we managed.
