Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Got myself a cheese scone for lunch takeaway. They heated it up perfectly with a decent serving of butter (many places don’t provide enough butter). The cheese scone was so full of flavour. Also treated myself to a rum and raisin ball which I devoured later in the afternoon. The food is great as is the service. Would definitely get myself a bite to eat here if passing through Napier again.

The team running Hapi were friendly, energetic and served delicious kai. The chocolate and rum ball paired perfectly with a coffee from Tennyson Bistro. The customer before me bought the last chicken, paleo sandwich and the woman serving me said she would make me one which I picked up around 15 minutes later. (Thanks again!) Healthy, delicious, good-looking kai and served up by great people. Highly recommend visiting. Well done! 👏🏼

A great place to eat healthier food choices, salads, sandwiches cakes smoothies coffee and cold drinks. You can dine inside or outside. The outside area at back of premises lets them down. No shade, umbrellas are broken and the piles of rubbish etc not a good look

Sadly our visit for lunch was money wasted. The Gozleme was old, stale, pastry almost black and served without any accompaniment so had to ask .
The choc chip cookie tasted like flour and was half its usual size . Very disappointing, yes should have returned it but didn’t wish to wait in line nor make a fuss.
Hasn’t been great for awhile now, hope it improves or be flagging it.

The food here has to be some of the best, my wife and I love travelling, and we visit Napier 3 - 4 times a year, we never go to Napier without a visit to Hapi's. Sandwiches to die for, awesome vegan options!! Complimented with great coffee. 👍🏾

We came for breakfast and delicious as I remember, one of us had the mushrooms on gf bread and the other had avocado with plant sour cream on gf bread and both went right down... coffees were hot and perfect - long black and soy mocha. The juice was taken away and enjoyed very much. I love this place and wish there were more like it around NZ. Keep up the fabulous work Hapi.

Popped in for lunch and had the most - yes quite the most - delicious salad. Broccoli, cauliflower, lentils, sprouted beans, onion and a wonderful dressing. And fantastic coffee. The vegan sandwich (with tempeh, avocado, grated carrot and sprouted seeds) was also delicious. It was precisely what we were looking for. Do you know that point in a holiday when you’re eating out for every meal and you’re desperate for some actual vegetables? All great. Huge space shared with a big whole-food and health store, Chantal. Our only grumble is that in a cavernous space with all hard surfaces you need to do something to reduce the noise. Using blenders for smoothies and juicers in the middle of the space feels like having someone set off a pneumatic drill next to your head. Maybe some (young?) people don’t notice it, but it spoiled our lunch. We would have definitely given Hapi a 5* rating if not for the awful noise. But go for the food.

Went in for a quick workday lunch. Ordered a coffee, scone and sandwich. Cost a relative fortune. Was given a pager and sat down to wait.
Check my emails and messages on my phone, and waited, checked emails and messages on my work phone, and waited, check the days latest news on my phone and read a few articles of latest news, and waited, observed that others who had arrived after me were lucky to get a coffee so checked the coffee station but nothing, so sat down again and waited, swatted away a few flies that reminded me of my recent holiday in sunny Australia, and waited, checked my time and realised that i had spent half of my lunch break waiting. Handed back the pager, mentioned that I couldnt wait any longer. Left, unfed and $24 poorer.
Feel free to use the money to buy some fly spray.
Dont wait, I wont ever be back.

I’m not vegan or vegetarian but I love fresh ingredients, which is why I was drawn to all the delicious looking food at Hapi. The staff were very welcoming and willing to offer recommendations (I usually like to ask for suggestions when I’m having trouble deciding) and I absolutely loved the tempeh sandwich. I went back the next day since I loved the sandwich so much but I didn’t love the granola bowl quite as much (just a little bland for my tastes). The restaurant is quite small with limited seating but since I was eating alone, it wasn’t hard to find a spot to sit at the counter.

We met friends for lunch on Saturday at Hapi, the cafe inside Chantal Shop. We're both vegan, and were hoping there'd be something we could eat. There was a great selection. I'd be posting photos if we hadn't inhaled the food, it was that good. We shared a sandwich with tofu and heaps of veggies, and vegan macaroni cheese. Both were absolutely delicious. We then bought two slices from their all-vegan slice selection - a sort of caramel cheesecake, and a chocolate and mango slice. Yummy. The service was with lovely smiles. A memorable lunch.

I always visit Hapi when I come down to visit Napier every 8 weeks. Food is delicious , nutritious and innovative. Staff are hip, cool and super welcoming. I love the vibe of their new premises. If you love your food healthy then Hapi should be your first pit stop in Hawkes Bay

Grea,t imaginative, healthy food, cheerful and efficient staff, excellent selection of drinks. Wonderful casualness with the decor and tables and chairs. The opposite of pretention and vanity. I loved it. I wanted to cosy up under a table and live there.

Totally recommend this Cafe, wonderful vegetarian and vegan food options. Brilliant variety of breakfast dishes, lunch and treats. Made with love and are healthy. We've been lots and lots of times ever since we started coming up for the Art Deco weekends, now living here of course, high on our list to go too.
It's little different now it's all moved into Chantels, lost a bit of its pizazz, but I'm sure as it adapts to the new surroundings it will offer as much as it used to before. Great choice for all your healthy food choices. The coffee is good too, the smoothies delicious and...well it's all good!
