We had scallops as an entree followed by the special of beef Wellington and Salmon…both dishes looked and tasted beautiful.
We aren’t dessert people but we’re offered sorbet not on the menu . An excellent way to finish a wonderful meal
Dined at Three Doors Up this evening, it has a lovely feeling about it and was beautifully warm on a very un-summery summer evening.
The service was excellent, good choice of wine by the glass and the food was great. I was initially concerned that...the vegetarian mains were a bit boring being either pasta or risotto, chose the risotto, so glad I did, it was fantastic, the seafood chowder was a hit with husband. Do try the coffee with treats.
A very enjoyable meal.More
No excuses, just an explanation in understanding. This was a big ask for a Chef to come in and cover in the absence of my incumbent, whilst she was on a well deserved break. Firstly, very lucky to find somebody, in this current climate, to...do it. Most people are in awe of what this tiny little kitchen produces - but sadly we let you down. For that I apologise, especially when you highlight the experience ruined your entire day. This little restaurant has been on the map for 15 years and with perseverance in adversity, to constantly deliver, has remained in the top 7 restaurants in Napier for 8 years. Disappointed as I am too, I hope that we can circumvent these negative reviews in admitting we did not deliver to our usual standards.More
The entrees were OK. But we had to send both of our 'medium rare' mains back to the kitchen because they were so overcooked even our steak knives were struggling. 25 minutes later the mains come back; the meat was barely any rarer, and the...accompaniments were from our original order. Needless to say we left immediately. Considering the above, and the $45 price tag for each of our mains, I would highly recommend you attend literally any other restaurant - just avoid Three Doors Up.More
My partner and I travelled to Napier for a goody getaway that doubled as my Birthday. We chose Three Doors Up because of the raving reviews and appetising menu. We went on a Thursday, and were greeted by two friendly servers, while we thought it...strange they offered no cocktail options we moved on to order our entrees. The Seafood chowder and Scallops were lovely and we enjoyed the ambience of the small restaurant. That was the last thing we enjoyed…
We went on to order the Eye Fillet and the Lamb Rack both medium rare, with a steep price tag attached of $45 we assumed we were in for a treat. It could not have been further from our expectations. Both meats were sent out medium to well and well done, we promptly informed our server and got a re-fire. After another 20 minutes the same plates of sides were sent out with meats that were barely an improvement. Ten minutes went by and the servers in spite of observing our obvious displeasure, avoided our table like a house on fire.
Frustrated and disappointed we left shortly after. Possibly the worst restaurant experience I have had in my adult life. A waste of time and moneyMore
First and last time eating there. One of the most disappointing meals we've had in Napier.
I understand that food prices are through the roof right now, but for $45 for a plate, one has an expectation of top quality. Though that was not the...case, in both preparation and quality of food served.
Menu lists lamb rack to be cooked med rare, came out beyond well done, with veggies over-steamed and drowning in oil.More
