The food was flavorful and plentiful. You are able to bring in your own wine (with a very small $5 corkage free) to enjoy with your dinner. This was a big bonus for our group!! The food was prepared quickly and the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. They are able to accommodate for vegetarians, nut allergies, and a series of other food sensitivities. As an added bonus, the restaurant itself has an enjoyable atmosphere as well. We enjoyed the vegetarian mezze platter and a falafel wrap. Definitely would recommend a stop in Kilim if looking for a quick and delicious bite to eat in Napier.

We enjoyed the food but it is very different from when kilim owned it.
In some ways it’s better. The salad was fresh lettuce with chopped cucumber, Tomatoes and pickled red cabbage.
The skewered chicken was beautifully tender and nicely bbqed.
And the rice was the same un-sallted puddingy warm rice- nice.
The kajos sauce was a bit strange - just a little pour of warm watery tomato sauce.
Then there was a kind of sour cream/ yoghurt as a little sauce at the side of the salad and a sprinkling of rosemary.
What I missed was a hot chilli sauce or a hummus/ yoghurt garlic dip to accompany the dish.
I hope they can provide these in future.
But lastly and the reason I gave only 4 stars was because the girl handling our order kept taking her hair out of her face with her ungloved hand ( maybe it should’ve been tied back?) then grabbing our salad and putting it on our plates!!!!!
Either use gloves or use tongs for goodness sake?! Not the hand you’ve been touching your hair with!
They were busy, pleasant and working hard but standards were low and they shouldn’t be no matter how busy.
Maybe a bit of staff training wouldn’t go amiss!
The boy who ended up doing my salad wore a glove and I thanked him for his care as we left.

Food was fresh, tasty and cheap as chips. A huge hit with the whole family, including our fussy vegetarian daughter. Atmosphere is really chilled. If you're in a hurry best you let them know because, in fitting Mediterranean style, they leave you to take your time over a meal. They have a limited drinks menu but you can BYO wine and they didn't even charge corkage! Highly rate the venue, the food, and the service. Thanks team, what a little gem! If we didn't live in Tauranga, we'd be back often.

We were extremely disappointed with our meal this time, having previously had good experiences.
We were very put off by the two waitresses who were constantly giggling together and not taking their work seriously at all. The food, mixed meat meze, was just slopped onto a tray and was very bland.
What a disappointment; we won’t be back.

agoDefinitely a restaurant to avoid in Napier. Had the worst experience after going to Kilim restaurant for about 15 years. At, 1pm, 1may 2022, we were waiting a long time in the restaurant and, had no service at all. We were given the complete menu, and was rudely told by the person in charge, Steve that, the menu, which we were given was not being served for lunch. (after the long wait to get service) In the mean time he had served the clients who went to the counter, Steve, then blamed, us that were heard him wrongly, when we had made the mistake. And that the menu was on the board, (see menu, limited board) . My partner is handicapped and Steve aggravated him so badly. We will never ever go there again. The quality of the dispeakable service is really bad. Definitely a restaurant to avoid in Napier.

Stopped in here for dinner by chance as we were driving past and was not disappointed. Being a public holiday it was very busy so there was a bit of a wait for our food to arrive but the staff were friendly and explained so we were more than happy.
We ordered two kids meals of the “meat and rice” and they were very decent servings of rice with your meat choice.
Wr also ordered a kebab - which is basically a wrap but made with a sensational flat bread, and a mezze meal which included a great variety of foods on the plate. Portion sizes were extremely generous - so much so that none of us managed to finish our meals despite trying very hard to! The flavours were absolutely spot on.
I would very much recommend a visit to this restaurant for friendly atmosphere and service, and beautiful food. We will definitely be back!

This place has it all: excellent food (everything tastes so fresh and homemade), reasonable prices and a spacious, inviting ambience You can just sit with a delicious coffee which is served with a Turkish delight. My husband had the lamb which he said was fantastic and I had the falafel (delicious). We both loved their hummus and salad. My future son-in-law is Turkish so we've been to many Turkish restaurants in the US but this is one of the best. We even came back the next day to do a takeout (very rare for us to do as we try to experience new restaurants while we're traveling)

We visited on Saturday night just as they stopped serving in the restaurant but offered us takeaways. We ordered kebabs, which were made very quickly. They were the best kebabs ever, we really enjoyed them sitting at the beach with a cold beer. The bread wrapping the kebab was so much better than usual! Will return for sure next time we are in Napier.

We were back in Napier for the long weekend so called in for lunch again. The service and food was fantastic as before. Although they are suffering from staff shortages the wait was not long and the food fresh and delicious.
Our biggest disappointment however was calling in on the way home to find it was their day off!

In Napier for Mission concert, looked around for dinner venue , thought not had Turkish for a while, so opted for Kilim .
We had the mixed mezze which was good and generous serving . the falafal , the feta rolls and beetroot were fresh and well made.
Mains , lamb guvech casserole and iskender mixed skewers just lacked any punch or flavour of Turkey , well enough cooked and of good size portion but bland .
Service was good , welcoming and friendly

Lovely ambience, friendly staff just a couple of things went wrong. I ordered a lamb casserole and a beef casserole arrived. We were in a hurry so I said that was OK. The meat was however not casseroled it was more like stir fried and was stringy and chewy. The rest of the casserole was great so they obviously just add the meat later. When we went to pay they wanted to charge us for the beef which was slightly more expensive which I didn’t think was on. They did change the bill but they need to up they act in the kitchen.

Thanks to Kilim for enabling a wonderful birthday celebration. We were a group of 20 and the owner was extremely helpful, arranging tables, allowing our own wine and birthday cake without extra charge. The food was generous and tasty, the service good and the guests left very happy.

Exceptionally warm welcome, staff were informative and friendly advising us of the menu change, beverages available and knew their menu. You can bring your own alcohol. We left feeling like we had visited often and were well known. The service was prompt and tables cleared quickly after we had eaten. The decor was authentic Turkish and the food delicious and filling.
We would highly recommend this lace, it also looked like they did take out.

DAJKOS KUFTE …new name.
It was all absolutely delicious. Had a vegetarian mezze and Lamb Shish. Lamb was tender and tasty. All the side accompaniments were delicious except the dolmade which wasn’t up to the high standard of everything else.
Lovely and healthy…nice guy who owns the business. Go…you won’t be disappointed.

We were trying to find somewhere in Napier that wasn’t a pub that we could sit down and have a nice meal. Kilim was very welcoming and had delicious food and great staff. I ordered the mixed dips plate to start and the grilled chicken shish plate. My girlfriend had the falafel kebab. The mixed dips came with the best bread. The falafel kebab was massive and filled with great salad. The chicken shish plate was topped with a great salad and served with the homemade jajit which was pleasant.
If you’re looking for somewhere to go in Napier I would highly recommend Kilim Cafe
