Delicious Thai Food

I was incredibly impressed by this restaurant. I went here on a whim while on holiday to try some new flavours, and I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and superbly friendly and prompt service. My only issue was that the food was overpriced for its quantity, particularly the main dish of the rib curry - almost $40 for not a lot of meat, a few peas, and a couple of pieces of lettuce. The ice cream was also weird and I personally didn't think the flavours worked that well. I ate outside as it was packed inside and very noisy, but it was a lovely evening to do so. I would return, and would try some other items on the menu.

Excellent service and very good food. A bit quiet on a Tuesday evening but a very enjoyable experience indeed. The server was very helpful in catering fir my vegetarian wife and explains the menu! A restaurant not to be missed!

A must in Napier

Absolutley visit Sai. We had a 3 night stay in Napier and ended up going here twice for our main meal. We were on both occasions excellently cared for by the staff, the decor and cleanliness feels new, and yet the feel is very much a staple of the city. I'd suggest everyone embrace the style of sharing the meals and amplifying the flavors that come out with mixing the combinations and subtle blends here. I look forward to visiting again, thank you all for making such a wonderful experience available for us.

There is a pork cracking entree they appear to overate and sell to us Newcomers. Choose something else. They have on the menu that you can choose brown rice as a side until you try to order it and it's not available. I had stir fried veggies as a main, they added tofu as requested which was great. But there were only raw broccoli including large chuncks of the stem, cooked cauliflower and some mushrooms. I requested ginger be added but it may have been powdered not fresh ginger. This poor meal was $28. My partner had a chicken & cashew. It was overly sweet $28. Overall wasn't the nicest of meals we have had and wouldn't rush back there.

Poor value for money! Lunch menu not worth it.

Opted for the lunch menu. Average. Chicken red curry was the best of the bunch. Came out hot, chicken was nicely cooked on skewers. Take or leave the Chicken cashew curry. Ordered 2 x chicken wings with rice for the children. Overdone chicken, barely any meat on the bones, rice was also way overdone. Poor. Food did not come out all at once. No excuse seeing as there was only 5 people inside the restaurant. We finished our meal before the waitress brought out food for the kids and this was only after I had to chase the waitress. Response was ‘chicken wings take longer to cook’.

Really disappointing

Was recommended this place and was looking forward to an amazing meal based on reviews here. Feel like we went to a different restaurant? Pad Thai was over cooked and lacked any flavour, tamarind Salmon was dry and chewy. Stir fry veges were OK. Tiny bowls of rice provided. Service was nice but really wonder what all the fuss is about.

Fantastic Asian fusion food,

Fantastic Asian fusion food, very good value and great staff. We were made to feel very welcome, the food was some of the best I’ve had outside of Asia. The mussels marinated in red curry sauce and wrapped in naan bread were amazing.

Great little Thai effusion eatery in the heart of Napier CBD

We really enjoyed dinner at this unpretentious and super friendly eatery. Chatting with the owner Sasi we learnt the antecedents of some of her fusion dishes like crispy tofu and crispy mushrooms (cloud ear fungus and shiitake). Great food!!

If you enjoy Thai food I would thoroughly recommend you visit Sai Thai Eatery. We had an amazing meal there tonight. Couldn’t fault it . Lots to choose from on the menu and a good selection of beverages. Staff were pleasant offering information and advice on our food choices .

I love this restaurant!

I love this restaurant, the food is outstanding! Have just had our second meal here. Last time approx 6 months ago, equally as good for a business dinner or a couples dinner! Staff are so friendly and helpful. If you like tasty fusion Thai, Sai Thai is an incredible tasty version that has taste buds singing!

Lovely Lunch during the Art Deco festivities.

The lunch menu was delicious ,with just the right portion size. The staff were lovely and waited on us with such a lovely manner.The booths were great and I loved the pottery plates which our meals were served on. Kid friendly as well .

Horrendous portions and pricing!

Ordered via delivereasy which I have done multiple times before and not sure why everything has changed but the portion sizes are a joke not even enough to feed 2 people I just could not believe it, everything tasted different was horrendous as well as horrendous pricing. Will not ever ever use these guys again so dissappointed as cost me over $150 for nothing!!!

A must visit in Napier

This place was recommended to me by one of the local motels, I have never regretted following that recommendation. There are many good food places in Napier, but this is by far my favourite. About a week ago I was back in town and brought some colleagues with me. They concur that both the Cashew chicken and beef rib rendang are amazing. Not massive portions but perfectly sized. Packed with flavour. Always a pleasure eating here.

Such a surprise!

The evening was such a surprise. Being New Year's Eve our favorite restaurant was closed even though it was advertised as open. So we went to the Sai Thai Eatery in Havelock North. We were professionally greeted and shown to a table for two, not something all establishments do these days. I ordered an old-fashioned cocktail which was not on the drinks menu. It arrived promptly with my wife's beer. The waiter knew how to make one and did not have to look up a recipe. I ordered the green chicken curry and Liz ordered the tamarind salmon. Both meals were superb with the chicken wonderfully cooked, full of moisture and taste. We chatted to the waiter and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We will definitely come again. It was noted that as the room filled with guests the waiter did not ask us for a desert order.

Disappointing

I had a dish that consisted of a few slices of cucumber overlaid with two lettuce leaves, some pieces of fried tofu and halved cherry tomatoes arranged in a ring around the outside of the plate. Accompanied by their ‘special’ peanut/satay style sauce. $30. The food costs would have been about $3. Abysmal. It looked nothing like the pics on their Facebook page. Glass of wine was exceptionally small. The roti bread was over cooked. Chan’s and Piku are much better choices.
