Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As this was a brief visit to Napier, I could not visit the restaurant multiple times for a fuller exploration as I usually do. This casual restaurant sits on Marine Parade in Napier's city centre, proclaiming its fresh seafood and being popular with clientele and...highly rated on websites like "Denizen". 'Twas full and buzzing when I entered. Ambience is the usual, although the wall next to my table had an amusing flowchart, with messages like "Salad is good for" pointing to a fairly anatomical sketch of a heart. I went for what's good for my tongue. Paua dumplings were tasteless, continuing the nationwide tradition of clueless paua cooking. Australian tiger prawns were attractively presented amidst orange discs and grapes, and sported decent flavour. Grilled Snapper which was 'fish of the day' (surprise, surprise!) was passable, with mediocre presentation, with heaping quantities of miso kumara mash enough for at least 2 people, and piquant notes of kimchi on top which was pretty strong lest anyone accuse the dish of being bland. The 3 dishes I sampled ($24 each for appetizer, and $41 for the main course) did not sing of a great kitchen. Silver lining - it's hard to catch the attention of the waitresses, which means you're not inspired to order more, which is great for your waistline. 2 Stars/5 (Average)More

Great food all fabulously freshly cooked, which took some time to serve but as it was a packed restaurant not surprising pudding was also out of this world so gorgeously tasty. Would advise that you get your food here.

Just had a superb meal and excellent wine at a very reasonable price. We had Oysters, sashimi, crab, fish burger, yellow curry, liquorice creme brûlée. Only regret is all the other things we couldn’t try. This must be on your Napier restaurant list.

Exceptional dining experience, welcoming bistro serving freshly cooked and delicious meals. The Yellow Thai curry with grilled snapper was divine, the fresh fish n chips just perfect with light batter. So thankful we could get a table at this busy and well attended restaurant. Nice casual place offering a good range of wine and drinks, I enjoyed watching the chefs from our ringside table. Fish tacos were good and my yellow curry with snapper exceptional

Awesome food. Terrible service … Seed like we were inconveniencing the waitress. If I was the owner I’d have a chat with a couple of the waitresses

We were staying in Napier for 4 nights - dragged my 14 year old daughter along to this place that was recommended- and we both give it 5 stars - awesome seafood all served in its own unique way along with superb Hawkes Bay wines...! Probably the best Salmon risotto we’ve had and that’s saying something given we have well and truely travelled the world - awesome staff to boot !More

I am coeliac and this is one place where I know my food will always be fabulous , safe and divine. I can’t tear myself away from fish n chips with a beautiful salad. But the menu always tries to tempt me! So many fishy...treats and all the starters change to keeps us on our toes. Had the freshest most beautiful oysters in his time. This is the best restaurant in Hawke’s Bay.More

I cannot praise this place highly enough. Don't come here if you don't eat fish, but if you do, you will be a very happy bunny! Had two small cold plates, then two small hot plates, then a main to share, and without exception they...were full of flavour without being overpowering or heavy. A lovely chat with the proprietor (at least I think she was) and they accommodated my low carb preference without a beat. The best meal we have had in NZ in three weeks. Thank you 😊More
