We had a nice dinner here overlooking the harbor. Ordered starter and main and we both love seafood. Starter were perfect ( Mussels and Seafood chowder) with main we both choose the Seafood Extravaganza and were thinking they could do better with this dish, maybe a little bit less salad ... but it could be only us and our expectation,... A vote of thanks must go to you all from our party of 20, on Saturday night. We so enjoyed ourselves!! With the varying ages, diet requirements and appetites, I can honestly say that we all came away very, very satisfied! The food & service was excellent. We had a great time and wanted you to know that. Thank you... More

Located on West Quay overlooking the marina, this is a great place to satisfy a thirst with fine wine or a frosty beer. We had a great lunch enjoying the fine tastes, sunshine and the people passing by. Recommended

We dined here last week with our out of town visitors. Initially we were seated upstairs but found it to be very cold by the large windows so asked if we could be seated downstairs instead. Our waitress left to inquire if there were any available tables. We were lucky there was one left downstairs where we were comfortably warm... More

Glad you enjoyed the Fish of the Day goldie1232015 itis very popular I presume you were there for dinner as we also have Fish & Chips on our all day menu. Thanks for your extensive review. The Thirsty Whale is well know to have the best seafood menu in Napier and that reflects with the name. More

Great lunch today, ordered the whale platter whilst my sister ordered the nz burger. Only reason for not giving 5 stars, no check back on main meals or desserts offered. Little bit lacking in the customer service when when I had to pay the bill at the main bar. Please offer your guests more information if this is normal practice.

A a regular traveler to the Hawkes bay region i've dinned here a number of times. I must say the first couple of times was fine. however they could do with updating their menu. thing become a little boring seeing the same thing all the time.

We update our menu twice a year with so many menu items especially the seafood receiving so many compliments on here and in the restaurant we are reluctant to remove or make major changes to all our menus More

6 of us came here on Easter Sunday for tea as the menu sounded really tasty. The atmosphere was jovial and the service was fine but the food was a bit of a let down. The menu promised so much but really failed to live up to it. The venison meatballs were over cooked and thus extremely dry, the potato... More
