Like this pub and when in town I like to go there but last Tuesday night there was something seriously wrong. I had to wait and wait for a drink as Matt the barman/bar manager was seriously distracted and several times just as he was about to serve me he was called away to have some sort of discussion/argument with... they have specials on every day and you can sit outside and people watch; prices not too bad either; it is on a main road but hey watching the old cars and people dressing up takes away any noise!!!

Had a light dinner here. A number of pub food items that were well prepared. Also a good selection of beers. The service was friendly and efficient. Nice seating outside, good for people watching.

We just had one night in Napier and options for dinner were pretty limited. As others have said, pretty standard pub fare - we had fish and chips and bangers and mash - both good and generous portions. Decent range of beer and lager too. But then the best bit - guy (JR?) game on to play guitar and sing.... More

We ordered squid with beer battered fries for lunch I was nothing short of spectacular. Having lived in the Med for 10 years I know a good squid and believe me this was the best ever tasted. AND there was a great portion of it. We went back the next day and ordered the same. This time is came on... More

we chose this pub on our first night in Napier. The menu when viewed from outside seemed Ok your typical pub food and we were hungry so thought we would give it a try. There was a good selection of beers on offer and served well. My wife asked for Tonic water and was served Soda water from the bar... More

We arrived late in Napier and eating options were a little limited. If in doubt try the Irish pub. It hit the spot with a traditional range of pub grub in sizeable platefuls.

Came here on a Monday night - just in time for quiz night. What a laugh :) Enjoyed some great fish & chips AND came 3rd! Staff were friendly & welcoming, facilities were clean & prices were fair. Good choice of pub meals & we didn't have to wait too long either. Would recommend to all.

For $17, the fish and chips are a must have. Fresh and tasty with a salad you can't go wrong. Beers at $8.00 are reasonable. Bar lady was grumpy but everything else was great.

Description
A Napier institution right in the heart of Napier has loads of character and is a great place to meet your friends, start your night out or linger over a meal matched with our best range of beers and our fine selection of wines including many local wines. Our menu is a fusion of Kiwi-Irish, well priced and we are well positioned in Hastings Street amongst the major central city shops and hotels, including our own Art Deco Masonic Hotel. The Rose appeals to a broad range of people, young and young at heart, locals and tourists, families, kiwis and international visitors.
