About
Speights Ale House in Hamilton is perfectly situated between two of Hamiltons great focal points; the Waikato River and Waikato Stadium. It's the ideal place to meet before or after a stadium event, be it rugby or a concert. The bar may be modern but you'll enjoy the rustic decor with schist rock, exposed wooden beams and copper piping creating a true southern ambience. The menu has hearty southern fare and has its own quirky personality - we reckon it's the only menu featuring 'Moa' or 'Arran's Sore Ribs'. All of which tastes even better when accompanied by and award winning Speights ale off the tap.

Nice staff. Very accommodating. Average prices. A bit like a library though, with zero atmosphere. Must be better places in Hamilton and can only recommend as a last ditch effort.

Well what can I say, CRAP We were at our table 20 minutes then had to ask for menus, when we ordered we were told it would be a 50 minute wait 😱 we asked for some FREE bread while we waited asp drinks got...told know, had to pay $14 for a small loaf. Meals finally arrived, chicken was so old/over cooked I had to use a steak knife to cut it. Desert, well again one of use asked for a half size sundae to be told only under 13 years can have that. Sleights Ale House get your customer service together. Will NOT be returning.More

Had a great evening here on the 12th of June 2021. Booking online was easy and had a quick response to a query asking if they had high chairs available. Was also able to add another seat to our booking of 10, on the day...we were dining. Staff, food and their service was Awesome. The place wasn't overly busy but their were other groups dining. We all left very satisfied.More

Service was excellent, food was exactly what we wanted. 2 of our diners had not been before and enjoyed their food and everything about Speights Ale House. The staff were so polite on entry and leaving.

Still one of the few restaurants who do Lambs Fry and Bacon well. Great service and reasonable pricing

Can't fault it. Staff were pleasant to deal with and food was delicious. I had the shank and it was cooked to perfection and the gravy was yum! Had 5 very full and satisfied customers when we left.

The starter size of Karaage chicken salad was enough of a meal for me. Small Crumbed chicken pieces, deep fried, served over a fresh lettuce salad. $19.50. He had the porterhouse steak with fries and Speights “special slaw”. All the slaw components were very finely...sliced, and lightly dressed. It really was delicious. Pricey at $35, but it was a very large piece of steak. Fries were nice, too. There is a very comprehensive drinks list. Beers, of course, and lots of wines by the glass. Plus the non-alcoholic. Service was prompt and friendly. Parking right outside. Wheelchair accessible. Large TV screen set to the sports channel.More
