Been to this place with a friend (a hour before kitchen was meant to close) to be told off by the co-owner, that the kitchen was closed. Not only was I embarrassed by the way management had spoken to me after addressing it as a business person myself. However tried their catering services, which was really expensive (as are the restaurants menu) but also doesn’t match what their social media pictures look like vs reality! E.g pics below are meant to be at least 2x of everything, given the price and photo on the website but it’s half that- on more than a few occasions. After informing them, given excuses such as it depends on how thick the bread slice is (was 1 compared to 3) hash browns (was 1 compared to 2) and the bacon was burned. I tried to communicate this feedback as the chefs seems to be good in general but the management/manager (front of house lady with red hair) was always very moody, unapproachable via Facebook some excuse except for making it right (at least try after given 3 opportunities) to make use of their services within our business even however nothing. Simply cannot afford the expense or any further and/or ongoing complaints from our customers. Not worth the economic challenges so many businesses or everyday clients face. Very disappointing to go somewhere else… as there appears to be high staff turnover as well. Most certainly does not give the “vibe” of happy ppl working there, let alone customers. More shocked at management response, so that I felt obligated to share this unpleasant experience with the public.

In the past this establishment had lovely food and was a pleasant place to have Lunch. I haven’t been there for a while but what a change…. The food that I had today was shocking, sausage Roll with what was meant to be a Beetroot Chutney. The most dried out, funky tasting thing I been served in along time. As for the Beetroot chutney, what a joke, a few pieces of grated beetroot on the plate. Chicken Filo was just as bad. What a shame, maybe new Owners or something but never again. Avoid !!

Had the most dry chocolate cake of my life. It had clearly been in the cabinet for a few days as I’ve had the exact same cake from the ham east store which was actually good.
Staff were friendly though.

Have been here a couple of times, but never again. The worst service today, cold food given and sent back to be reheated, I watched it literally been thrown into the microwave. Staff refused to close the doors which we had to sit in front of and absolutely freeze on this cold morning, everyone had jackets and wooly hats on in the cafe, the staff didn’t care. Staff weren’t friendly, it felt like they didn’t want to be there. I shame considering we want to support our local cafes.

Always busy with a great vibe. Counter food is outstanding. My favourite items are the feather-light, crunchy, chewy, sticky, sweet meringues. YUM.
For brunch I had the kumara rosti. It was nice. We also enjoyed the peanut butter banana smoothie which was PERFECT.

Great find while visiting Hamilton. The menu was great and catered for all.
Coffee was great and the food quality and portions were better than expected.
Chilli scrambled eggs was one of the best I’ve had to date. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Our second visit to Mavis & Co Rototuna and did not disappoint! Lovely staff/owner, super fast service & great food/drinks. Would recommend to anyone. Hope to try their dinner menu soon 😊

Very pleased to have a Mavis in my local neighbourhood.
They do great coffee, have great cabinet snacks, and a simple menu.
Decor is really lovely. Great place to catch up with a girlfriend for coffee.
For groups, there is a bigger space to use.

This restaurant café is new and looks great. The service from 2 young lads serving the tables was terrible and quite rude. Food was hugely disappointing so a bad experience all round.

Bought lunch, coffee turned up, food didnt, our meals had gone to another customer and there was no more
