Trip Advisor told us to go here, so we did, and wow, were they right, as a chef for my entire life I naturally adore good food and this was good, very good. I chose the Southern Fried Chicken Eggs Benny and my wife Avocado on toast, neither meals looked anything like how we imagined, over the top? Maybe, Pretentious? Yes, anybody care? No. Every element had a place and a reason to be there, whether it was for taste, texture, smell, or just plain look at me I'm pretty. The Southern Fried Chicken was the single best I have ever tasted. Their are notices on the menu explaining "While stock lasts", that is for good reason, get in early, get in quick and bloody enjoy. ❤️👍🤗

I visited the Kirk a few days ago,it wasn't my first visit and definitely won't be my last. I ordered the calamari after being seated in the garden and enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate while waiting for my meal. The calamari was recommended by one of the waiters and it did not disappoint. Was a great choice of meal to enjoy for lunch in the garden. For such a busy Cafe, the food (taste and presentation) standards never drop and the staff are always friendly. Definitely a top Cafe of the north island

I went in for lunch with the idea of having a delicious Korean chicken burger. Ben the chef said I should try the special - Green-lipped mussels in coconut Tom yum broth. So I did and my only regret is that, being in public, I couldn't lick the bowl. It was so good!

I've had coffee from here 3 times recently and it's terrible. So hot i can't drink it for half an hour then bitter and burnt when I can drink it. Not to mention it cost me $7.70. So disappointing as I had heard rave reviews of this place. I found the menu quite off putting too - very expensive and such complicated dishes I can't imagine what they'd taste like so haven't taken the chance. Unfortunately just not my kind of place I suppose

We were looking for a place for breakfast and this was one of the places that we found. It was a bit further away from the city center being across the river but it is worth the visit. I ti located beside a church, keep an eye out for the cafe flag. They do have a few parking spots but we had to park on the road. The place wasn't very big but it did have a deck area as well as an outdoor area along with their indoor area. We were seated on the deck area. which was covered so when it did start raining we could just sit and enjoy the sound of raindrops. The outside area had a large table and looked like it was made for those with pets. After being seated we were given menus. You did have to go up to the counter to order. There is also a cabinet full of interesting food like a tom yum pie or cronut, but we went with the menus. After a long time to deliberate, I ended up going with the meat flamenco eggs. It was such a filling and delicious meal. It seemed to contain all the meats that they offer as well as other goodies like cheese and mushroom. Quite a decent portion of food which was all very tasty in the tomato ragu base. My friend had the french toast and that was quite a pretty and delicious dish. The vanilla mascarpone was really tasty and the french toast itself was really nice, crispy on the outside and almost like pudding on the inside. it was such an unexpected find. The prices are a bit higher, close to the $30 mark but the amount and taste make it a good value. I think it would have been perfect if they did table service.

... is creamy mushrooms with blue cheese whip on turmeric sourdough bread. This is my ultimate go-to delicious brunch treat. Today I added a side of bacon. The welcome at The Kirk is always warm despite the busy Sunday morning rush and Ben and the kitchen staff never let the rush compromise the excellence of their food. BTW I visited on 1 November NZ time, not October!

We always trust reviews to guide us to the best eateries, and unfortunately this one was misleading. We ordered the beef burger, chicken burger and duck hawker roll. The chicken burger was the best, we’d say a decent 7/10. The beef burger tasted like it had been drowned in salt and was inedible. Even the chips were undercooked and overly salty. 0/10. The hawker roll had so much spicy sauce that only the salad could be eaten, but the majority had to be left on the plate. It was like eating fire (and that’s coming from someone who loves spicy food). 3/10. We wanted to ask for a refund but felt like it was rude and we know it wasn’t the young waitresses fault (who were all lovely and attentive).

The Kirk Cafe a privately run cafe attached to the Big Presbyterian complex on the east side of the river in Hamilton has great atmosphere , with good indoor outdoor flow. I would recommend it for breakfast or brunch. The food and presentation is well above average. Prices medium to expensive, but it also has very good cabinet food too.

Prices are shockingly high, I believe I ordered the big breakfast sort of dish and it was around $35-$40. Shocking. I understand the cost of living is high, but other cafes have such better prices and are so much more worth it. The pictures on the websites and social media look beautiful, but the actually taste of the food is disappointing, and the portions are extremely small, stingy for the price to be honest. Also, do not come here if you have any dietary requirements or allergies. This cafe puts in little to no effort to create allergy/diet inclusive meals. Also don’t order the gluten free ‘ bread ‘ ,it tastes like a bird seed cracker and it’ll cost you $4 for two tiny slices. I don’t like to leave such negative reviews but I’m honestly so disappointed with this place, really did not feel welcome here, had a awful dining experience, so I will not be returning.

The cafe has a cool atmosphere and the prices of menu are on higher side for breakfast. I was expecting more from a well rated cafe. The breakfast took over 40 mins to arrive with the place less than half full. Tables only got water automatically if you got the ‘right’ waitress. I had to ask if my breakfast was forgotten (never a good sign). When it arrived it was tasty, with spicy beans and a relish. The sausage was good and the herb butter was nice. The coffee was quite bitter. Overall, this should be a good place but was let down by very slow service and not very good coffee.

Let me start off by saying this is the best cafe in Hamilton. My friends and I are regular customers here at The Kirk Cafe and we are always, always greeted with a friendly happy smile and a nice big hello. Great arrangement of tables and plenty of seats for everyone. We love the long seat along the wall! The cafe itself is in a warm sunny spot with plenty of parking. Menu is neatly written with plenty of gluten, dairy free and keto options, cabinet is beautifully presented, always full with delicious colorful food(the cruffins are to die for) My friends and i always enjoy eating at The Kirk Cafe The Owners and staff are amazing, thank you very much for bringing such a fantastic and delicious Establishment to the Waikato! Plus its dog friendly!!

I had the Turkish baked eggs with lamb sausages, bacon, olives, feta, minted yoghurt, tomatoes, eggs and more! Arrived in the pan with crusty bread and was mouthwatering. Others had Creme brulee French toast and both said best they had ever had. Southern fried chicken was also a winner. Can't recommend enough.

Darling and I popped in to the Kirk for a Saturday morning treat. She had her usual French toast which as always was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. I tried the harissa and halloumi baked eggs. Eggs cooked well and the first half or so of the dish was yum then, once the bread was all gone it all got a bit tomato heavy. Would really benefit with some plainish beans to the side of the bowl just to tone down the sauce. Coffee good as always and took two muffins away for later. They were choc/blueberry and pistachio and were very good. Not overly sweet which was great. Staff friendly and attentive. Grandson and his mum joined us which made good use of the grass seating area. Looking forward to working my way through the balance of the menu.

Today I had the salt & pepper squid. So tender it falls off the fork, yet crispy and light. And so beautifully presented I almost hate to disturb the plate. The accompanying salad was fresh and crisp with a tangy, spicy dressing. And of course the coffee is great. I'm never disappointed when I eat here.

It’s a popular place but not to my liking. The coffee is bitter, and there couldn’t have been more flavours and different ingredients on my plate if they’d tried. Start with eggs Benedict, add crisp fried chicken, a polenta thing, a corn and all sorts salsa, avocado cream and red cabbage complete with a huge slice of bread. It sounded quite interesting but was a mish mash. The other choice was a Korean sausage which you have to wait until midday for even if you’re there at a few minutes to. Another mishmash with lots of cabbage and a big bun. A good sausage though. It isn’t cheap, though generous servings.
