Walked in Friday at 515pm for happy hour , only about 10 people inside. I asked if we could have a drink only , but were told sorry it’s only table service and we are full. Such a pity as we would have happily just...stayed for a half hour or shorter of the tables were booked to try the place out as we were on our way to another eatery for dinner - but we were not even offered any option . We had 4 people and left with a perception of bad service and lack of interest. Pity as we would have come back and spent a lot of $$ as we are here for 2 weeks .More

The free hors d'oevres that were delivered to the table were unexpected and delicious. A great start to the meal. The happy hour prices for cocktails from 5-6 PM were also great! And the food itself was superb. I had the delightful and tasty Vietnamese...pancake - every mouthful was delicious and full of flavour. The husband had fillet steak which he really enjoyed and it was cooked to perfection - medium rare. Two happy peopleMore

We had a great meal here, all of us having different selections and all were great. It was within walking distance of where we were staying so it suited us. It gets busy so can be a little noisy, but worth it for the food.

Starting with the phone booking the service was great. The web site suggests that sharing is emphasised and the menu has more entrees than mains. The two of us chose to share four entrees rather than include a main. We tried oysters, venison with Amarillo...and strawberries, deep fried cauliflower and the Vietnamese pancake. All were great. We didn't need it, but the food had been so good we had dessert - the vegan mess and Indian donuts. Again lovely. All night the service was great with good information about the menu and also Gisborne. Just a super night with super food.More

When we arrived we almost had the place to ourselves but it quickly filled up. The breads and dips were delicious and very generous. Our children had starters for their mains and were very satisfied. The venison was delicious and we all enjoyed the cocktails,...mocktails and other drinks. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Great night outMore

We went on a fairly busy night, great to see people out. After being seated and having a starter we were then moved ( not sure why as no one took our original table.) I had ordered the vegan pancake. I said I was vegetarian....I asked about the price, as the meat pancake was the same price as the cauliflower pancake. ( normally vegetables are less pricey than meat). Same price! I was then served meat rather than vegetarian. They replaced with correct order, husband finished by time i started. No salt or pepper on tables or offered. Mine was in definite need of herbs/seasoning. Paid the bill, very expensive for what it was. Queried it as expected maybe a complimentary drink for issues. Told if I had eaten the meat then I would have got a discount plus I should have said before given the bill. Really poor customer service, rude and sarcastic. I had asked to talk to management, no. Wrote to them and nothing. What a shame.More

Loved the building - it's old but now has an industrial fit out that's cosy! But still hasn't lost the history of the building. Staff were friendly, but not in your face. Food was excellent. We shared a venison and cheese platter - very tender...and delicious flavours. My main was a crusted snapper, which was superb. All the meals were presented beautifully. I had a Matawhiro wine, which was local and I ended up going to the vineyard the following day - delicious.More

We were in Gisborne recently for our nephew's tangi - and were unable to have our kai hakari at the Marae in Tokomaru Bay due to COVID so we booked into the USSCo Bar & Bistro for dinner. Wow and Wow!!! The service was on...point, the kai was just fantastic. The variety was perfect and the vegetarian dish was AHMAZING!!!!!! I would so recommend a visit to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. We will go back here next time we are in Gizzy!!!More
