i’ve been to Portifino Gisborne a few times and each time is amazing. amazing food, staff, service. this time in particular we had been round to 3 other restaurants and the kitchens were closed with last hope we ran in to check and they happily...REOPENED the kitchen for us, over the moon. drinks are great food was great. highly recommend the garlic pizza! 10/10More

This so called ‘restaurant’ charges Auckland Viaduct Harbour prices for average food. You could get better quality at the Auckland Night Markets. Clueless wait staff. Had to confirm my order twice, but got delivered the wrong order three times. Ate what was delivered because I...was starving but the seafood tasted ‘off’! Probably got it from the local area, currently under a shellfish ban. Not even pointing to the item on the menu was simple enough for them. The drinks were sugary, as if the aim of them is to give you diabetes. If you want there $14.50 bruschetta, be prepared for a lousy one small slice of bread and tasteless toppings at that. To top off the experience, the man who hangs behind the bar obviously doesn’t know how to listen, nor does he care about quality and service. He wants you to pay your bill and get out. Overpriced, average food and incompetent staff. Seriously, you are better off going to McDonalds! One of the worst Portofinos in the country and we have been to a few! If you like to waste your hard earned money on some fake, stodgy 'Italian food", eat...here. You would probably get better pasta from a microwave meal at the Countdown. Went to Portofino for a friend's birthday party. The meals were out of this world and we all loved it. The staffs were friendly even though they are quite new , they were doing their best. The manager/owner came out to take orders as it...was quite busy and he was so fun to talk with. A nice guy!!! Overall our experience at Portofino was amazing and we will surely come back.More

Absolutely fabulous Risotto thank you. Re: the previous comment I was sitting beside the 3 rude ladies. They completely emptied their plates, very happy then decided to make a fake grumpy experience and demand free dinner. You were rude to the lovely staff and cashier...at the til. The worst service I have ever experienced. Numerous problems with our meal then shouted at by the owner for voicing concerns and requesting a discount. I felt like I was in an episode of Gordon Ramsey's kitchen nightmares.

Went to Portofino for lunch on a Sunday. As we were the only customers there, somewhat surprising, the service was outstanding. The service is attentive, prompt, professional and knowledgeable. Refreshing in a country were these attributes often lack. The food was superb, I had the...special of the day; lamb shank and it is cooked to perfection, falling of the bone without being overcooked. I was served a matching glass of Italian wine as recommended by the staff and it is perfect. My wife had the risotto, which she was willing to share and it is sublime. It is very hard to make a good risotto! Overall a fantastic meal and worth a visit. Will I visit Portofino again? Absolutely.More

Wow 🤩 The best risotto I have eaten in New Zealand! I love the food at Portofino Gisborne, it is real Italian food. We like to eat here with friends and family, the ambience is nice, and the food is exceptional. There is also a...good choice of wine and beverages. Normally I eat vongole or veal because they are yummy. Today I had the porcini and truffle risotto with parmesan and roquet which I hadn't tried yet - it was amazing. My hubby had the slow-cooked lamb shank, and our friends had pizza. We shared a caprese salad and garlic pizza for starter, affogato and coffee for dessert. If you are looking for a place to dine at a reasonable price it's fantastico. Today we shared Sunday lunch instead of dinner. The chef is outstanding.More
