Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were at the restaurant last night for dinner. The restaurant is in the harbour with great views although we couldn’t get with one. The service was very good. Especially when I said that I was gluten free. The waitress spoke to the chef and...came back with a menu stating which dishes that were GF and the ones that they could adapt. I chose an amazing fish dish which came with a salad which was dressed. My partner also had a different fish dish which he choose a salad to accompany and we shared a portion of chips. We finished this with a desert of tiramisu. We both had a glass of wine. The bill came to 163 dollars. We throughly enjoyed our experience.More

Had a wonderful dinner here last night. Lovely friendly staff and the food was beautiful and fresh and just the right amount. We both had the baked fish and asparagus salad. One of the best meals I've had. Thank you.

I want to rate this higher but the food was the let down. The service was warm and friendly. The atmosphere was buzzy and lively. The setting was lovely with water views. But, at the end of the day, the food was a 6/10. We...had edamame and hummus to start. The edamame were great but just too much on the plate - we ate about 1/10th of the portion. Hummus was delish but again, too big a serving for a starter. For sharesies, we had the empanadas, Korean chicken and potato rosti balls. The chicken was fine - just a bit bland. The rostis were the same - fine but under seasoned. The empanadas were weird - the beef filling wasn’t tender and the pastry was really tough and overworked. At $212.00 for a dinner out, it was a bit pricey for what we got. We ate at USSCO the night before for much less for much better.More

A bit disappointing. Pastry on the beef cheek empanadas was overworked and not entirely pleasant. Beef itself was OK not as tender as it should have been. I had a nice red half a glass "on the house" as it was the end of the...last bottle. Nice gesture but...when we looked at the bill later was charged for a full glass. Otherwise OK without being spectacular.More

What a wonderful spot for a celebration (of which there were a few last night), which made this relatively small restaurant even more comfortable, however it was noisy inside. After some very ordinary meals at other restaurants throughout New Zealand, this was a revelation. Great...food, excellent staff and well priced. If you visit The Crawford Road Kitchen and you have adventurous tastebuds, make sure that you go for the homemade chicken liver pate, which is plenty for 2 and it is excellent, complimented by pickled cornichons & shredded pickled carrot. We suggest that you share entrees for main so that there is still room for the tasty & fresh deserts. Highly RecommendedMore

Although we weren’t able to secure a table booking at late notice on a Saturday night, we dined at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was fabulous and the interaction with the staff (which we wouldn’t have had otherwise!) was most enjoyable.

I used to live in Gisborne so frequented this place a lot and was never disappointed. Not only do they have fantastic food but also a superb selection of local wines. Whether you want to sit down and eat in a more formal fashion or...have a few drinks with friends and see where things go, this place caters for everyone! I moved from Gisborne 3 years ago but returned here for dinner tonight and was blown away by the standard of food. The chicken liver pate was a goodness overload with the crunchiest little gerkins on the side and salty crunchy toast! The turmeric baked fish was a taste sensation and my husband had the fried chicken which was absolute perfection. Well done guys you really are the best Gisborne has! Can’t wait for my next visit!More

Fantastic food and wine. Started with a local chenin blanc in the sun then moved inside for dinner - really good food. And a kitchen and service team that knows what they're doing. I don't often do dessert, but I was easily convinced here as...everything was so good. Well deserved 5 dots!More

This was recommended by a friend in Napier and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Pate was lovely but the carrot pickle was to die for. Chicken with black beans and salad was perfect matched with an Irwin Chardonnay 😋

Casual dining with friendly staff, right beside the marina. Not a big menu but each item we ordered was delicious and the salmon with black garlic was the best I'd ever had.
