We went to Govinda for my birthday, celebrating it on the 1st January. One of our family is vegan so we chose with this in mind as makes things so much easier. There was so much to choose from that the rest of us forgot...that we were not having meat! Very very nice. The gentleman waiting on us and serving at the counter was wonderful. We let him make our choices (we added a few items as well) and it was really a banquet. We ate everything even though we thought we would be asking for doggie bags!!! Was a wonderful afternoonMore
Ok so it's veggie/vegan. So what? It's pretty good for you and makes a nice change for some. Extensive menu and all good. Their Standard Meal does me every time - puris/rotis, poppadom, salad, dhal, two curries and pickles $12. The banana methi is worth the...trip alone. And you get to investigate a Sikh temple. What's not to likeMore
So good! Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. We had such a delicious Indian dinner here one night when we stayed just outside of Auckland. Takeaway or sit in - the man at the counter was so nice in helping us...select what to order. Very authentic vegetarian Indian cuisine.
Large portions very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend!More
They have quite a lot of different Indian food on the menu which I thought was very overwhelming since there were so many choices. I ended up going with the Govida Special fixed meal. The meal had all a bit of everything, rice, bread, curries,...and dessert. The serving was quite good, particularly for the price (This set meal was the most expensive item at $20). It was nice to try a range of different curries, the cabbage and pea one was really nice. The dessert (think it was a lapsi) was really good. The set meal was a good way to get a taste of everything.More
Staff are very nice and friendly.
Delicious home cooked Indian vegan food without onion or garlic.
We usually go at Sunday lunchtime and have thali, but have also had masala dosa, pau bhaji, dahi puri, samosa, mango lassi - all highly recommended,
The restaurant is...at the front of the temple so can hear the pleasant chanting from there.More
Tucked away in a corner, this is a place not to be missed. Food is prepared with care and not mass produced. It may take a while for you to get your food but it's worth the wait. Staff are friendly and there is a...variety of food. My kids love the place too.More
