Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is disgustingly dirty. The food is disgusting, and the pictures are faked. My food had bugs in it. The plates and cutlery were dirty. The food was also kind of raw. Horrible quality. I recommend you don't go here, Its really not worth...it.More

Domain and Ayr is one of our favourites. It's well situated, and parking isn't usually a problem. Its food is interesting and delicious, and menu is varied. Service is very good, with superlative coffee - what more could one ask??

We needed a coffee and light meal while we were wandering and found Domain and Ayr cafe. The menu was great - we had a hard time choosing and the cabinet display looked enticing. Good coffee. The staff member was friendly and efficient.

We came here specifically for the 20 min fluffy pancakes! Knowing we had to wait we also ordered an eggs Benedict (great & tasty served on brioche bagel)to share while we awaited for the star attraction to arrive. We sat outside as we had our...fluffy fur baby with us. Enjoyed the sun and watching the upmarket cars cruise by. The pancakes didn’t disappoint - they were like eating clouds and marshmallow as someone else described rightly! My OH thought they tasted like soufflé cross bread & pudding but without raisins ... The service was friendly. Café is conveniently located to nice walks Hobson’s bay and the domain parkMore

Staff are very sweet and friendly and food is really good. Chicken and mushroom pie was generous with the fillings. It is nicer though if not microwaved as pastry goes floppy, but I appreciate its hard to get a pie hot quickly without doing that....Slices and cakes are also very good.More

We were able to get a table for brunch. The place isn't very big but there are about 5-6 table around. Although the menu said to order at the counter they actually came and took our order. Most of the menu items look good but...I came here to try their fluffy pancakes. The pancakes were huge and they were stacked. There was three of them on the plate. I quite liked the compote and fruits around the pancakes but there wasn't enough maple syrup since there were so many pancakes. It did get a bit dry at the end since all the syrup and sauce were already eaten. This could have easily fed 2 or 3 people. I also had an iced chocolate and it wasn't very sweet. Nice chocolate flavour but more on the dark end.More

I've visited Domain and Ayr Cafe twice now, the first was so forgettable I'd already put it out of my mind and thought I was going somewhere new until I walked in and was reminded of a dense and dry Friand I had there previously....(Such a shame, Friands are normally my friends but this one was terrible) Despite the hit of disappointing nostalgia I remained steadfast and powered through, deciding against hope that cabinet food could only improve. Having chosen a relatively safe option - the sausage roll, albeit in 'pork, leek & kale' form - I sat and awaited my fate. Unfortunately the wait time was rather more excessive than expected, sitting for around 15 minutes before one of life's simplest pastries was finally deposited in front of me. Perhaps the lacklustre salad (consisting of some greenery with seeds and the world's smallest drizzle of balsamic) takes that long to prepare, but somehow I doubt it. The sausage roll as an icon is a wonder. It's varying bits of varying animals mushed together and wrapped in fluffy, puffy, wonderfully crunchy pastry. Domain and Ayr's take on this aforementioned icon was saddening. The pork was flavourless and dense, with some added aromatics thrown in to try and make it 'upmarket' but really falling flat in the process. But worst is the pastry. When biting into a sausage roll one expects to have an ethereal crunch meet your teeth. You expect to be showered in a golden-brown hail of pastry as it breaks and snaps all around you. This version was damp and lipid and the complete antithesis of a good puff, which is nothing short of heartbreaking. Of all things the, I'm assuming, homemade tomato sauce was the standout, but it should never have to come to that. Oh, and all that for $9. For a sausage roll. Expectations are held high at that price point and they were not even remotely met. The atmosphere is quite nice, it's a well designed layout, and from all accounts the coffee is good but as I'm not an aficionado thereof I cannot comment and with my current experiences I'm not in a hurry to find out.More

Popped in for a much-needed coffee this morning. I’m a total coffee snob and my flat white coffee was superb. Froth art a bit fancy and my son loved his fluffy! Thanks so much- we’ll be back!

This is obviously a local favourite - every time I have walked past it has been full. Grabbed a table today and had a really good coffee. The cabinet food looked delicious and the staff were friendly and engaging. Going back for lunch next time.

I came here to meet a friend for coffee and was impressed by the friendly service and range of good food both on the menu and in the case. I decided on the recommendation of a friend to bring my wife back to try the...pancakes. We really enjoyed our visit and the pancakes were a unique experience. We found them rather bland and would order something else in future but the coffee and breakfast smoothie were wonderful.More

Came here with a group from work, luckily we got a big table. Went to the counter to order (food came promptly), I went for the mince on toast. It was good and flavoursome, the berry smoothie I had was a great accompaniment. Cool place...that I would go back to.More
