One Tree Grill has been a favourite of mine for more than 20 years. Its 'companion', Little Jimmy, is justly popular with the younger set, but OTG provides a consistent level of service that continues to delight its longtime clientele, and judging from the last visit, a lot of newer people as well.
From the moment you arrive, to a warm welcome, efficient seating and attention to preferences, you know you are in excellent hands. Food is imaginative and delicious. Favourite dishes have subtle changes which at once show the chef is alert and creative, but still fulfil the longing for a particular favourite dish. No one does steak or duck better than OTG. Maybe just a little more variety in the dessert area?? Wine list is excellent and fairly priced. Recommended wine matches show knowledge and flair.
Over time, we have aged a little and the verandah was a bit noisy for easy conversation. We will ask to sit inside next time. A recent birthday in the private room was absolutely ideal for a group of about 8. We like to meet friends or close family and to talk to one another. OTG's main dining room facilitates that with its soft surfaces. Large noisy parties are not its particular thing. If you want to shout and 'be seen' maybe you would be better on some footpath nearer the waterfront?
I hope to be back at OTG well before my next birthday.

As a steak connoisseur of sorts, I have a very high standard for beef and One Tree Grill is absolutely exceptional!
The space provides an intimate, classy setting with a very warm vibe. Tay was our server and he blew us away! It was almost like a personal concierge service, the type you would receive at a Michelin star restaurant. Top notch!
I got the ribeye and my wife got the eye filet, both extraordinary! The temperature was just as we requested and the flavor was lovely. 5 stars!

We really enjoyed the scallops to start - very light and refreshing with the grapes alongside. Our friend thoroughly enjoyed her fish main (snapper). The highlight though was the dessert - a summer take on carrot cake. The freshness of the accompanying fruits and ice cream complemented the dish - a coherent tasteful whole. As usual the service was faultless and we will be back to taste other offerings from the new menu.

From the first welcome at the front desk to the attentive waiters and waitresses we were treated to a very enjoyable evening.
The entree of scallops was light, fresh and delicate. We enjoyed sirloin and fish. Both dishes were presented beautifully and cooked perfectly - the seasonal greens were varied and definately recommended.
Desserts were indulgent and excellent. We would defintely go back to this restuarant and have no hesitation in recommending.

I can highly recommend this restaurant for its ambience and quality of the food. We used the private function room at OTG to hold a 60th birthday celebration for a family member. This was a delightful room in which to hold the event and it had the added convenience of its own dedicated private bathroom attached. The three course set menu had a good range to chose from catering to all tastes and dietary preferences. As always the taste and presentation was superb. We all had a very enjoyable evening which was enhanced by the attentive staff who looked after our every need.

Four of us came here for dinner in late January and had the degustation menu. Nice looking restaurant that appears to be very popular in the area. The service was friendly but could have been more attentive. Unfortunately all the water glasses had that stale dishwasher smell which is quite off putting. The food and matching wines were good.

The restaurant's elegant decor and attentive staff created a truly memorable dining experience. The menu boasts a diverse range of dishes infused with exquisite flavors that caters to all taste preferences. Despite the slightly lengthy wait for the food, the quality and presentation were remarkable. The only drawback was the limited vegetarian options.

My partner and I moved back to New Zealand in April after living in Hong Kong and experiencing the amazing restaurants and dining experiences there. Friends got us a voucher for One Tree Grill to continue our foodie experience in New Zealand, and we're so glad they did! We were met with friendly faces and seated straight away. One thing that stood out here was that staff weren't trying to push too much on us, they gave us the space to make our decisions but we're never far away when we had a question. The food was absolutely divine, we couldn't have asked for a better night.

Hands down, the best restaurant ive been too. Travelled from sydney australia & googled fine dining in auckland. The service was amazing, the food. OMG. Freshest oysters ive had, everything was so flavoursome & well presented dishes. My friend and i both got the steak and it was so succulent. The butter that was on top melted and it added so much yummy flavours. BEST restaurant experience ive personally had.

We went here for my husbands 60th birthday and were very happy with our choice. Parking was easy, a rare delight in Auckland.
it was a warm cosy venue with lovely ambience, making it feel like a special occasion. Staff were lovely and helpful. The menu was on an ipad , but it was easy to use and i found it great to see pictures of the food to help you make your choice. The wine lovers in our group appreciated the wine match recommendations and thought they complimented their dish beautifully. The vegeterian in our group was also satisfied with her choices.
All of us thought our food was beautifully presented and very tasty. We were all very satisfied . My only gripe would be that you pay extra for all sides. Though beautifully cooked i resented paying an extra $10 for broccoli beans and brussel sprouts when you are already paying $45 for a main.
We appreciated the complimentary dish of truffles with happy birthday for my husband and the complimentary bread before the meal . A very special venue to help us celebrate a special occasion, and would highly recommend

We were delighted with our decision to celebrate another birthday dinner occasion at OTG. From entry we received impeccable and knowledgeable service by engaging wait staff, who assisted with menu choices and matching wines augmenting the excellent visual data on digital tablets. All courses were of very high standard and visually appealing, ensuring the occasion to be memorable, including our 'birthday deserts'. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a great evening out at One Tree Grill. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and tables are not cramped. The service was excellent and so was the food and wine we had. This restaurant has maintained high standards over the years and is a valuable asset to the suburb.
I am happy to recommend One Tree Grill as a place to go to if you enjoy chatting to your friends over a glass of wine and an excellent meal without being disturbed by loud music.

We had a lovely meal at One Tree Grill - the food was delicious, service was excellent and the restaurant itself is lovely. The only minor thing we did comment on was how quickly our mains arrived after we had finished our entrees. Slightly more of a gap for a more leisurely dinner would have been better 😊 Otherwise it was fabulous.

One of a kind experience. The ambiance, service and quality it comes with is just beyond words. Spontaneous decision for choice of dinner venue after a day long of shopping was just what we needed. Don't get fooled by the quantity you're served with. That food is AMAZING and ever so efficient and extremely knowledgeable staff make the entire dining affair memorable.

Deserves the rating as one of the top 5 fine dining restaurants in Auckland. Never disappoints and we keep going back for 5 star service, beautifully thought out meals and desserts that are just fantastic. Our Auckland favourite for a quiet, top-notch experience.
