When you google us or check out our Facebook page you will discover we have a cult following, not because we are the coolest but because we consistently offer personal service of the highest standard and create mouth-watering, time-honoured family recipe dishes, made with passion and humble, honest flavours. This is not made-to-measure cooking. This is cooking from the heart. So much so, that our chefs instinctively know when a dish is just right; how it should feel, how it should taste, how it should look. Indeed an art and its entertainment, so we showcase this spice-dance for you with our glass kitchen. Our target was to offer authentic rustic Indian food from a unique part of India; this is not just food, these are memories of my childhood. Our outlook on life is simple, why waste time with bad food and bad company? We are locals, we love serving food lovers and we love to share our passion.

We enjoyed a wonderful experience here, the service was very good despite the fact they were very busy, food was great, our picks was the Goat Curry, Vindaloo and Butter chicken, the selection of starters were tasty. Wine selection by the glass a little limited, the prices were comparable to other restaurants in this class. The staff very professional and attentive. Would recommend this restaurant and we would not hesitate to return.

The food, the service, the atmosphere make this a memorable dining experience each time.
The dishes are incredibly tasty, perfect portions leaving you satisfied rather than overwhelmed. The tandoor lamp chops are melt in your mouth, the coconut prawn curry is some of the beat seafood I’ve had (so fresh!), of course the butter chicken is delicious, we even had dessert (which isn’t typical when I dine at in an Indian restaurant), and it was the creamiest mango ice cream I’ve ever tried!
You can see why this place is considered an institution, the welcoming and attentive wait staff elevate it to another level - we can not wait to go back again and have another highly enjoyable dinner.

My husband isn’t a huge Indian food lover and he RAVED about this place. We selected this spot based on reviews of others who have been coming for 20+ years. They were right!!
Butter shrimp were amazing. I used the last of the garlic nann to get the last drop of the sauce. My girlfriend and I both had the Kadhai chicken Makhanwala. Superb. The only trouble was that we ordered too much and couldn’t finish it. Highly suggest sharing dishes. We also had the House Black Dahl which was fantastic. the other main dish was lamb which was in a green colored sauce. Looked awful but tasted great. Wine selection was quite good and across varietals and price points.

Food was very good as was the service but the servings are small making it quite an expensive meal. When ordering strength of spices we found that Medium was actually reasonably mild and even the Vindaloo was no more than a good medium So, overall. It's very good but not excellent by a stretch

We went there out first night and were not disappointed. We met the owner Anand Patel who was at the next table who was a gracious host who sent a few extra items to out table. The lamb chops were probably the best I have ever had, supper tender and flavourful and everything else was delicious!

Wife and I experienced a wonderful evening celebrating my Birthday. What a cosy restaurant this place is, came in from the cold, but were warmed up very quickly. The ambience is this place suits couples and as well larger parties.
I have to mention the Lamb Seekh Kebabs (small bites) which were melt in your mouth and with just the correct amount of spices.
The food is subtle in its spices and doesn't overpower the food, There is a great amount of thought and skill going into producing these dishes. A special mention must be made of the Goan Chicken Vindaloo, transported to another place and time, this is a must try if you like layers and layers of flavours that dance on your tongue.
The staff are attentive but not overbearing which adds to the experience, the character of the owners have been imparted into the staff, well done!
Our new favourite Indian Dinning place, for those special occasions and not so special occasions.

Very delicious food- well priced, non greasy, and good flavour. Not too spicy which is good if you're not into spicy food. I had the goat curry with garlic naan and rice, while my partner had chicken tikka masala and we shared the onion bhaji.
The tamarind sauce with the onion bhaji was really yum- nice and sour and refreshing against the crispy onion pieces. The meat in both curries was tend and well flavoured and fragrant when it was served. Not very spicy which suited us this evening but next time we would look for something spicier.
Staff were attentive and friendly, checking to make sure orders were correct and that the food was good. Really appreciated that.

My favourite restaurant for 20 years! Indian doesn't get any better, anywhere else in the world.
Their signature secret Butter Chicken (with some garlic naan to mop up the incredible sauce) is to die for, but also try these on your next trip:
Mansoori Lamb Chops (great entree!)
Salmon Tikka (great entree!)
Punjabi Saag Ghost (lamb & spinach)
Malai Kofta (amazing vegetarian)
Enjoy. It's impossible not to!

The OH Calutta restaurant in Auckland, I have been there three times, every time I arrive in Auckland I have to go there to eat the Snapper cooked Indiana with the infinite sauces that accompany it. Not only that but we were greeted by a beautiful and very nice woman who immediately puts you at ease. After tasting dishes that I don't even know what they are made of, I step into the Snapper or a coway cooked in a sublime way. A truly unforgettable experience

We turned up without a reservation &, though the restaurant was already busy, luckily, the accommodating maitre d managed to find a table outside. The service was attentive & the dishes were superb. My wife enjoyed a delectable Kashmir chicken korma whilst I delighted in a delicious Goan Chicken Vindaloo (just the right degree of heat with a spicy aftertaste rather than the abrasive upfront burn so frequently experienced elsewhere ). Overall, an extremely enjoyable 'white tablecloth' meal in a stylish location & with friendly, professional service. Highly recommended!

Not just good service-a step above that! So friendly and helpful but not over the top-very genuine and lovely people. Beautiful food! My favourite place for curry’s in Auckland. I’m a vegetarian and love their malai kofta and naan bread. My partner eats meat and has had a variety of their curry’s-last night he had the goat curry which he said was gorgeous.

This place claims the best butter chicken and it does not disappoint! Flavours & spice were spot on. We had the butter chicken and tikka masala and cannot wait to go back.
Staff extremely attentive and went above and beyond to make our experience a delight, cannot fault.

The food is very nice here - we had butter chicken and mushroom and spinach. Portions are small but it’s really a fine dining Indian restaurant. Very nice food - we will come back . Ice cream at the end was very nice and they have a good whiskey list and some nice craft beers

Decor ok. Staff very attentive. Had the goat curry - a mildly spiced brown stew. Not very exciting. Kebab starter soapy and tasteless. Rice and naan fine. Better places elsewhere I hope

Came during Level 2, while the food was excellent as always, it was the best restaurant i went to for taking covid measures while not impacting the service. The food took a bit longer to come out, but was as spectacular as ever when it did. I was lucky to get a table as they had a lot fewer tables than normal, but they took it in their stride. I noticed a lot of takeaways/deliveries going out the door, so it seems like auckland agrees!!!
