Awesome food

I've been dinning here with my friend a few times and ordered takeaway dinner yesterday. The food is superb! Samosa is delicious. Will definitely come here again.

Great Food, Name Change Ahead?

We had an excellent dinner at Nite Spice in early February while staying at a B&B nearby. Samoosas, mint kebabs, and a spicy curry all wrapped up with very tasty buttered naan. We would certainly go back, but on a month-long visit to NZ, are unlikely to get another chance. Our server told us that the cook, who has been with the restaurant for several years, is now the owner and may change the name of the place. So, in months ahead, look for the address, if not the name. It will be a highlight of your visit to the area.

Enjoyed Dinner

My husband and I were staying In Mt Eden couple of nights and we were recommended this restaurant. The service was good and the food was too. We had plenty to eat as we chose the banquet. We were quite satisfied with the entrees and found we couldnt eat all the main food. The restaurant could do with a bit more atmosphere. Overall everything was good.

Went to this restaurant tonight. Second time visiting actually, within a week. Quite enjoy the food. Had three single whiskeys as I had the next day off. Asked for a fourth and was asked 'are you okay, you've already had 3'. 3 in over an hour with a meal. Anyway, got the 4th and about 25 mins later asked for the bill and another whiskey. Refused to serve me despite my very obvious non-drunkenness. In short, want a good curry with a drink without judgement: don't go here.

A very good value eating place. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful Our 6 different dishes were all enjoyed. A special treat for the birthday girl consisting of a very moist yummy chocolate cake with ice cream and candle. A lovely finish to a special night It was good to have the dishes hot Med and mild. Especially with children. All plates empty at the end Thankyou nite spice for a great night. We'll be seeing you again.

Nite Spice, Very Nice !

Located in Mt Eden village shops, this lovely Indian restaurant is sure to please. The food was lovely, surroundings were nice, service was good. There were a few vegan options to choose from, and all very nice. A little bit harder to avoid onion and garlic, so definitely ask about ingredients, because many of the sauces are already made. Great food!

I never really liked the bright lights and the decor of this place but the food is excellent. After a shaky start when the waiter wiped the table with what smelled like an old sock, the service picked up and the table was cleaned again with a less smelly sock. The food was delicious and plenty of it with the best garlic naan I've had for years. The meal was reasonably priced too. Not sure I like being glared at by the manageress who scowled for an hour at us though. If you like bright lights and a cold welcome this place is a must.

Nice Indian vegetarian restaurant

Had a good dinner at this restaurant after a hectic but satisfying visit to City tower and a few other attractions. We had a sumptuous and tasty vegetarian food at this place

Butter Chicken Supreme

I took my daughter and her friends for butter chicken for her 22nd birthday. The staff serving were very attentive and worked hard to ensure the evening went well. The meals were served in a timely manner and tasted very good. We have been many times and have enjoyed the meals.

Cheap flavoursome lunch - will return

My mother in her 70s recommended this tiny restaurant to me - and to be honest, having travelled India I was sceptical but soon pleasantly surprised. Lunch time total bill: under $30 for the two of us! My sister and I shared two excellent curries - chicken tikka masala and a potato "something" plus naans, one shiraz and a soft drink. Rich, flavoursome meals and friendly service. I recommend the fruit and nut naan. I will return!

Was good prices for lunch. Nice room to fit a large group and small. Not as flavorsome as other places iv been to but the price my reflect that. Over all a nice time.

Average curry dulled by the not so great service

Nite Spice was recommended to me by a work colleague so I took my group there. We were directed into the back area where there was no ambience. The waiter whom looked after us didn’t have the best English understanding so got a few things wrong like totally missing my entrée. However he did rectify that. The selection of curry’s were extensive and nice. The sizzling entrée platter was lovely. The complimentary sauces were needed to cut thru dry pastry etc. The Naan could have been a little softer and less crispy – that’s how I like it anyway. Wine selection was ok. I don’t think it rates higher than any other curry houses. I personally prefer ‘Simla’ a little down Mt Eden Road.

Outstanding Indian cuisine

Went for our first NZ meal here. Excellent, fresh quality. Chicken curry was well prepared, lamb meatballs were delicious. Naan was wonderful! Can do carry out also from here. Will return . $ 45 NZ for 2 people, no alcohol.

Both licensed and BYO, nothing was too much trouble for the team at this restaurant. The food was of good quality, reasonably priced , the service quick and unobtrusive, and the restaurant immaculately presented
