Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food was absolutely outstanding. The servers were very kind, helpful and attentive. The restaurant was quite busy when we went so seating was limited and quite close to other tables, making it a little difficult to hear the conversation we were having. Apart from...that, everything was wonderful.More

Cons - some of the food was sub par, especially for the amount of money we're paying. Chicken karange was so dry it was inedible. The salmon sashimi didn't taste sushi grade, The fried rice wasn't very nice and why wasn't there any plain white...rice? The deserts were mostly nice but the lemon cake, while tasty, was still frozen! Pros - service was awesome. Servers were very vigilant in keeping water on the table, clearing plates, and even meeting requests for things like toasting the garlic bread for me. Absolutely first class service. Just need to improve the food to meet the expectations of a buffet that costs $115.More

We came on Sunday night large family booking to celebrate a 21st, place is beautiful and the decor is lovely, food was ok. The service was a bit awkward and needs work, loved that we got complimentary drinks but the girl serving it was confused...she thought she had completed the drink order but she hadnt as some of my family still had not received their drinks, perhaps naming each individual and ticking them off for large groups would work better, or have jugs that would be equivalent for 1 cup each in a group, or have people line up and serve their drinks as you go, because it was messy the way she did it. Also for people whom have never been to a japanese restaraunt maybe have a waiter or someone explain to guests as they arrive what or where everything is or maybe ask people if they would like an explanation of where everything is, like food you cant take to tepenyakki to cook because that was confusing. It is a bit overpriced as the service we got was average. Ice cream was given out but not everyone got one as some people were away from their chair getting food so just assuming that everyone got one was abit messy. It is a nice place just needs tweaking with service.More

This buffet used to be a top-tier dining destination, but it seems like the quality has declined in recent years. While the seafood selection, like Scampis, Argentinian red prawns, cooked prawns, and oysters, is still decent. However, the cooked dishes were disappointing, especially the tempura...prawns which used to be hot and tasty but are now cold and poorly prepared. The teppanyaki dishes are still good and freshly cooked. The dessert selection has improved with the addition of mango in syrup. Overall, the buffet is still decent, but it may not be the special annual treat it once was. We might want to reconsider before visiting again.More

Wasn't worth what we paid in comparison to a place like Eight at cordis who charge similar prices for the buffet we were left disappointed with the limited selection and non existent suitable sides to go with all the seafood (plain rice, fries or potatoes...etc) Food had been sitting for a while because some of it was hard and firm. We had to ask for the oysters and different dishes to be restocked literally after arriving. The highlight would be their service, our waitress was wonderful very tentative and cleared our table regularly. Unfortunately we don't recommend this place and we will not be returning. I also had to pay for a newborn and a 1 year old, obviously the newborn doesn't eat food and the 1 year old didn't eat even a side plate worth of food. Please update your policy because that is just ridiculous, doesn't make any sense.More

This review is actually for the Ember restaurant, I'm not sure why I got sent this link for one of the other restaurants at the Grand Millennium Auckland. Firstly I need to say that the service and presentation was excellent. Secondly the meals that the...other people in the party had were, they said excellent, and exceeded their expectations. My meal though - corn ribs, one of the limited vegan options, was disappointing. It was the sort of idea that if I made it at home my wife would say - good idea, it didn't work, don't do it again. Insubstantial, without taste and not even close to something that might be attempting to be 'ribs'; no sticky sauce, zero flavour - not even of sweet corn or smoke. I would have loved to have left a far more positive review, it saddens me that I can't, for an otherwise great experience. Once again thank you Tom for the great service. The Ember restaurant is a great venue, as is the reception bar with equally great service.More

The sashimi of salmon, tuna, and possibly another fish was incredibly tasty and fresh. They had a creamy oyster as well. The udon noodles dish and the takoyaki octopus balls were really delicious, and their hot food was also pretty good. Finally, their dessert was...not too sweet as it to my taste which made it perfect . Love, they started serving ice cream at the end. Fantastic serviceMore

Great selection of delicious food, atmosphere. For the live teppanyaki station, I think the chefs put too much flavouring (especially salt, pepper and soy sauce) on the cooked food and the chefs refused to cook the sashimi because my dad does not eat raw food....Maybe have some salt and pepper grinders on the table. People can season their food themselves. There is already soy sauce on the table which is great with the sashimi. It's great to see staff handing out one ice-cream per person at 6:30pm. Rather than putting it in the dessert section because it melts quickly. Luckily, I booked before the Sunday Special Buffet at $69 per person (as advertised on Facebook). Because now, it's $79 per person ($10 increase).More

Great food and lots of fresh sashimi!!!! The price seems too expensive, but you will understand that once you see the quality and amount of the food. You can park for free for 2 hours within the building. Parking tip - park at level 10...where the restaurant is located.More

We were a little disappointed that the seafood did not cover fresh scampi and scallops. The other seafood like prawns and crabs were far from fresh. The shashimi were nice and fresh. They appealed to us. Teppanyaki was very average. The tofu was rather tough!...Desserts were quite nice with a variety of cakes and fruit. It was nice to cover our time of parking when we had dinner at the premises - two hours. We have to pay for the additional time we stayed there. It was not reasonable as it implied that the dinner time did not include any extra time we spent at the hotel. We expected this is a leisurely time of an enjoyable evening not restricted by the time limitations.More
