I had been hanging out to dine at Cassia for the past 18 months. Whenever I went to book it was always full. Post Covid lockdown it was a little easier to get a table, yet a bustling, full restaurant greeted my friend and I on Thursday night. We must’ve watched at least 4-5 groups of people being turned away from trying to get in.
And there’s no surprise why. The dining experience was amazing on all levels - food, service, ambience, wine list. My friend and I opted for the $75 Taste of India. It was worth splashing out for and represented great value of money as dish after dish of sublime flavours was delivered to our table. I will be back!

We booked a table at Cassia to celebrate my birthday and had pre-ordered the 'Journey Through India' with matching wines. The service was extremely slow to start. We ordered a cocktail before the wines and waited nearly 30 minutes for this to come to the table and waited nearly an hour for our first course and first glass of wine. After this the courses and wines flowed nicely with enough time between courses to enjoy the night. The food was exceptional, presentation to a high standard and the taste sensational. Perfecting the 'heat' in Indian food is no mean feat and they nailed it as you could still taste everything. They definitely know their flavours! All the dishes were stand-out and the naan bread was some of the best we had had - they just melted. You certainly won't be hungry after this! It a great gesture that they had given me an extra dessert with a candle in it for my birthday. We did leave a tip as after the initial 'hiccup' we felt the service was really good and food beautiful. We will certainly be back when next in Auckland and highly recommend this to anyone who loves good quality, fresh Indian food.

Managed to get a booking (very popular venue) and was looking forward to the visit. Very pleased with the outcome as the Indian fusion food was excellent as was the service. If you are after a 'fine dining' experience wouldn't recommend it but if your taste buds want to enjoy themselves definitely a must do. The actual restaurant itself is in an old downstairs warehouse so a low ceiling, brick walls and polished concrete floor mean that when full it isn't quiet, infact its very noisy. Found it difficult at times to actually hear the waiting staff describe what's on offer but they went out of their way to ensure all of our party knew exactly what they they were about to experience. If food is the main objective, highly recommended, if it's to catch up and find out what friends have been up to over a good meal, suggest a somewhere less noisy.

Fantastic food, great service. Staff are very hospitable and take the time to have a conversation, they were also very informative about the menu. Can’t say enough about the food, so many flavours I don’t think I’ve ever tasted anywhere else, 10 out of 10!

We consider an outing to Cassia a real treat with our budget so our expectations were high. We opted for the Journey through India and specified that we would like a premier wine match (mentioned that 3 times actually). Our first disappointment came when our first course arrived almost immediately after we had settled in. We hadn't even had our drink orders taken. The wine match arrived quite a time after the first course was finished and just before the next course arrived. The second course came almost immediately after the first course. At this rate we were going to be out of there in an hour or so so I asked the waiter to slow the next course down.
The food was devine but we thought the dessert wasn't enough and we joked that one of us could have eaten the serving for the table on our own. We aren't big eaters!
We enjoyed the premier wine selection of five small glasses. Tasting size only.
We were in the section where the iron chairs scrapped noisily on the concrete floor and the group next to us were up and down a lot. The lucky people in the main section had wooden chairs so didn't have the noise issue.
So not a perfect night.

I have wanted to stop by for quite a while so I probably hyped it up a lot in my mind. The restaurant was quite comfortable and not overly loud so it was easy to hold a conversation. The lights were dimmed but sufficient so you could see the food and company. The service was nice and friendly and the menu was interesting. The food was a bit of a hit and miss for me though.
I tried the Achari fire cocktail and it is exactly as described as it was spicy, but it tasted like a chili sauce. I was expecting more of a mango flavour but the flavours were quite interesting with the spice. The heat mellowed at the end of the night when the ice melted.
Most of the food was really nice, particularly the duck and the carrot, both being absolutely stunning. The carrot was an afterthought to get some veggies but was one of the better dishes of the night. I was expecting a bit more pronounced spice flavour in the dishes though, but it was still nice. The tandoori fish had a nice smokiness to it which I liked. The lamb kebab was also quite nice and a little spicier than the others.
I was excited for the crayfish cone but it tasted like cream cheese and I was trying to find the texture of the crayfish which I couldn't find. I'm guessing that the crayfish was made into a mousse which the cone was filled with. The biggest disappointment for me was the pork belly. The pork itself was cooked nicely but the prawn balchao that came with it was on the edge of too salty for me. It was unpleasant to eat by itself and we weren't sure if it would be possible to get more rice as it wasn't on the menu.
It is definitely a nice place for dinner and I would come back to try the other items because most of the dishes were tasty.

The restaurant is tucked in an alleyway in Fort St.
Its very trendy, very beautifully decorated and smells amazing.
The food is super delicious, Karahi chicken was my favourite, and service was just extraordinary. Everyone was very attentive and we were well looked after.
Overall was an amazing experience ❤️

We went to this restaurant the first day we arrived in Auckland. We were worried that being Indian Restaurant it would be heavy food which we weren't looking for after a 24 hours of travel from Toronto. But I was wrong. This place had the best fusion food I have ever eaten. Service was amazing, dishes were mouth watering and presentation was out of this world.
DĂ©cor of the place was very cozy and staff very friendly. I would recommend everyone to visit this place. The owner has other 2 restaurants (Sidart Restaurant and Sid at the French Cafe) which unfortunately we weren't able to visit as they were closed for the season, but I would have loved to try them

We managed to get a table for two for dinner on Saturday evening. We hadn’t booked but were able to get a tall table at the back of the restaurant. Service was a little slow but that may be because they were fairly busy.
The food was beautifully presented but to my palate all tasted like it had tamarind in it. Beetroot and crayfish cones: Tamarind curry. Aubergine and chickpeas: Tamarind curry.
Pork and prawns: tamarind curry.
This may have just been unfortunate choice of dishes on our part and larger groups ordering more dishes to share might get more variety. Mice ambience but based on our experience wouldn’t rush back.

Wow, so grateful to Nick at Gallery Pacifico for recommending Cassia and for the Hotel Grand Windsor for getting me a table there! even at 5.30 there was already a queue outside the door! situated on Fort Lane, you might even miss it, no spectacular entrance but inside, really makes for it. Small bites are available to lots of flavours can be enjoyed without filling up. the entrees and the mains are just off the imagination chart! I had a wonderful time there and the service was kind and friendly and so welcoming. thanks Cassia...you are a shining star!

Special occasion dinner, for 2. The pani puri blew my socks off, layered carrot was creamy and delightful. I was so impressed with how the chef was able get a carrot to taste like that. We ordered the journey menu. Plenty of food, we even had takeout because we couldn’t finish everything. Also ordered the matching wines. I though the experience was real value for money. I would definitely take friends and family here when the visit. A real treat!!! Thank you to the cassia team. Spent $205 for a 2 hour seating.

Cassia is famous and has hype. It is pricey (be warned). On one date night, we decided it was time for us to give it a go (and hoping our wallets would say it was worth it.
We ordered Cured Salmon, Pistachio, Verjus; Green Chilli, Tandoori Chicken, Madras Sauce, Curry Leaf; Caramelised Beef Short Rib, Chettinad, Leek; Vegetable Bhaji and Rice. We weren't sure how big the portions were but the salmon that arrived first just set the tone on how delicious the food was going to be. Everything was amazing!
On each dish that was served, the waiter would explain the food, ingredients and how it was prepared. This made the experience jump an inch higher. Service was efficient and quick, and we got checked on.
We feel the prices are a smidge over-priced by $5 or so per dish. Understandable because they are on hotel premises. We would go there again.

There are few places in Auckland where you know you can just rock up with the expectation that front of house is capable managing time giggling things around. Great gins, food superb, crayfish cones and puri set this place apart. Do I need to say the best god dam steamed rice going?

This restaurant would rank in my top ten restaurants of all time. The food was exquisite with a superb blending of flavours, textures and colours. I have never experienced Indian good so delicately and perfectly presented. Service was outstanding with knowledgeable waiters. Do be aware that the Bites are exactly that - one bite. But so wonderful; get a bite per person and have two or three each. We also had two shared mains between two of us which were filling with the addition of naan. The dessert was unbelievable.

The food is outstanding! Really probably the best subcontinent cuisine in the CBD. It’s very pricey and the portions are generous so one main per person is plenty. They have a tasting menu but only for 2 or more. Lots of “table touches” but not for the solos. I didn’t feel like they wanted single diners from the reception. No carryout so I guess I need to bring a friend next visit!
