Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fresh, delicious, organic, locally farmed dishes - prepared with beauty and care. Our family love Cafe Viet it is our favourite local and hands down our favourite Vietnamese in Auckland. The atmosphere is wonderful, and we are always well taken care of.

The location was a walk from where we stayed. Great ambiance with attentive service. Loved the menu and enjoyed our meal, I wish this was my neighborhood, I’d be a regular here. Loved the vegan spring rolls, and the Kombutcha

I recommend Cafe Viet highly. Delicious fresh tasty food. The Bang Bang prawns were bang on. The grilled fish in banana leaf absolutely perfect and a top pick. The soft shell crab salad was also delicious with a generous portion of crab and a large...fresh tasty salad. The staff were all attentive and courteous, and the service was very prompt.More

We normally dine in, but decided to get delivery (living reasonably local in the next suburb) on a Saturday night, 7:15pm along with every other hungry person. Food arrived really quickly, fresh as if we were sitting in the restaurant and hot. Every time without...fail, the food is exceptional and the staff amazing. Delivery on a cold night when we didn't want to venture out even better - thanks Cafe Viet, keep up the awesome job you're doing!!More

Whenever we come to Auckland we always go to this restaurant at least once during our trip if not twice. The food is absolutely fabulous and there are plenty of vegan options also which is great when one of the family is vegan. We generally...have service from a gorgeous lady with a blonde bob haircut (sorry I do not know her name). She is so helpful and fantastic. Sometimes, I feel that staff find customers such a nuisance but she is so delightful ALL of the time, we love her. We are going again next week, yum yum yumMore

We stopped in here for a taste of Vietnam and weren't disappointed. A good length vegetarian section on the menu as well as good looking meat and seafood dishes. The service was excellent and a nice atmosphere and decor. Only fault - plastic straws. Ditch...the plastic please.More

We were a small group celebrating a birthday. We were seated in an alcove away from the main table area which meant we didn't intrude on other diners. The wait staff were very patient collating the orders and making sure that the right dishes were...delivered to the right people. The menu offers a wide choice to suit most tastes. The food was excellent. Thanks for a most enjoyable night.More

We came here for the first time with friends who love this restaurant. It is a cosy restaurant and obviously popular (was very busy). I'm rating this restaurant on the particular dishes I had on the night but just want to let you know that...I believe my friends liked their dishes more than I did mine. I ordered Bang Bang Prawns as my starter and they were fantastic. I also got to taste my husbands lightly battered squid and that was super yummy, even better than the fantastic prawns. I ordered the crispy pork knuckle for main and I guess I was disappointed with the flavouring on this as it was sort of cooked okay and the side salad was nice enough, but their just wasn't much flavour as the spice rub that looked to be on it because I think the high heat to make it crispy skinned had fried the flavour of the spices away. Desserts were interesting and my hubby's chocolate cake was more of a mousse but nice enough. The plum ice-cream with it was deeeelish. I got the summer in a jar on recommendations from friends and it was okay. I didn't finish it and probably would try the mango mousse instead if I went again. All in all, I think if you ordered the right dishes for your tastebuds (there is quite a lot of variety), you would be pretty happy coming here. Even though my particular dishes were up and down, I still think this is some of the best Vietnamese styled food I have had in Auckland.More

Will definitely be going back here! The food was amazing, quick service and the staff were super friendly. Lots of vegan choices which is great! We had the vegan “roast duck” summer rolls, stuffed tofu, calamari, and fish. Everything tasted so nice! Highly recommend this...place!More

Had a planned menu for a party of 10. Starters were the Bang Bang Prawns with coconut lemongrass dressing rice lemony with a bit of heat; spring rolls were yummy with a twist on the sauce with peanut rather than just the traditional hoisin rich...sauce that can be a bit overpowering, summer roll with began rust duck added the crispy texture to the soft roll and nicely paired with the nuoc mam. And finally the fried calamari that was perfectly fried leaving the squid just cooked. Mains started with the lemon grass chicken served with BunCha and herbs. Best lemon grass chicken yet in Auckland. Just nicely grilled and the chicken moist yet nicely charred. A word about the nuoc mam at Cafe Viet.. simply great balance of lemon juice, palm sugar and fish sauce... The Caramelised Pork Hot Pot was to die for. The pork belly was slow-cooked with the skin and fat melting in your mouth. The grief hard boiled egg was a nice touch and the braised gravy... Yummy. Very nice dish. The grilled fish in banana leaf served with nouc mam and rice... As a Malaysian, that's comfort food, and well done ... Would have loved a little sambal belacan on the side but that'd make it Malaysian and not Vietnamese... The nuoc mam with grilled fish was a great combination. Our planned set came with a grilled scallop for each diner. Our last dish was the yellow curry with chicken. I would have liked it with more heat but nevertheless, still good. Dessert was a real surprise... Ordered the Summer in a jar which was an interesting take on the Sago pudding. Came in a jam jar with the Sago pudding base topped with palm sugar, coconut flakes, coconut ice cream and the surprise... The schnapps soaked raspberries... The combination just came together so well ... Will be going back for more. The wife ordered the whiskey coffee chocolate mousse with plum ice cream... Also great. Nice touch on the dessert.More

If you’re looking for an energetic busy place, this is for you. From the moment you walk in the staff are warm and welcoming , ensuring you are well hydrated ( whatever your choice may be) and advise you well on meals. Staff happy to...accomodate meal portions based on number in dinner party. Delicious food for sharing with group. It is fairly noisy so not ideal for wearers of hearing aides.More
