Excellent Food

The exterior and view in does not reflect the quality and value of the food. We had the steak and the lamb chops. Both were excellent, well cooked and well presented. Very reasonable pricing. Not very busy at 5:00 pm on a Monday but more people came in as we departed.

Surprised at the quality of food

Looking in this does not reflect the quality of the food. We had lamb chops. This was 6 chops, mashed potatoes and a few vegetables in an excellent sauce. My wife has the steak with a few chips and vegetables. Again an excellent choice. Very reasonable prices and good quantity of food. The deserts looked amazing - but we resisted the temptation.

Amazing food, tasty and authentic, great menu, attentive and friendly staff, and a cozy warm atmosphere.

We found Nicolino over a year ago and the food and service was so good that it is now our favorite place to go for dinner whenever we are working in devonport. I think last night was maybe our 5th time there, and as always, the food and the staff were amazing. Its not a big restaurant, very cozy and rustic, but very comfortable. Thanks again, we will be back! Maybe tonight :) Mike and Marc

Good food but service lacking

Food was tasty. Service was dreadful in every way manageable. Once seated at table, had to ask for menu and water for table after 15 mins. The restaurant was far from busy. The 2 waitresses were busy chatting behind the bar. One waitress was not sure of what was in the dishes when asked re an allergy and had to be prompted to ask the chef. Just an awful lot of waiting ...... other customers came in and walked out or waited patiently at their table....Fortunately we were not in a hurry. Verdict. Nice food but plenty of other eateries to choose from.

Quite possibly the worst restaurant in NZ. Food looked tinned and/or store-bought rather than made fresh. Service was terrible. We left the majority of it, the waitress asked if everything was OK, when I told her it was terrible, she laughed...

Good food and service, just needs a bit more polish to achieve its potential

Went for dinner on a Friday night in Devonport, our usual haunts were unable to accomodate us so on a whim we thought we'd try Nicolinis. Very glad we did. The MD had the Greek Filo Pastry, I had the Spanakopita. Both were very tasty, good size servings and came with salad. We thought about dessert but were quite satisfied with our mains. In summary, food was good, service was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed ourselves. We will be back bit a bit more polish and professionalism and they would be 5 star and we would be back more often.

So glad we decided to eat here

My wife and I had just watched a terrible movie at the old Victoria Theatre in Devonport and decided to stay in the village for dinner instead if fighting Aucklands traffic back to West Auckland. As a tour guide/driver in Auckland I had often driven past Nicolinos. Reading the menu on the window and the vast array of great sounding food we entered. I had the Chicken Tortellini and my wife had the Pepperoni Gnocchi. Both were so delicious. I will be recommending the restaurant to my guests. Staff were very friendly and the chef was a cool little guy. You will not be dissappointed folks. Check it out

A MUST-VISIT IN DEVONPORT!

I came here on wednesday night and had a great experience! food was delicious, and the service was great too, the waitress was helpful and friendly. The chicken fettuccine and the quattro pizza were exceptional!! great value as well, the portions are well sized. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a cozy meal with a great atmosphere.

5/5 stars!!! We all loved our meals, and the service was great (Garlic pizza bread was to die for). Definitely would recommend for anyone who wants a delicious meal with a very cool vibe.

Sadly disappointed

Having lived in Auckland for most of our lives, we returned to have a special night out here Saturday dinner with some of extended family. Over the years we visited several times and enjoyed so anticipated great food as we had in the past. Ordered Seafood Mezze Platter - Poor presentation, salad lumped on same plate with runny juice all through it. Flavours were quite nice but scallops overcooked and shrivelled. Waitress forgot the dipping bread and brought out half way through eating. Wasnt very busy so no excuse. Brandy scallops sauce very tasty but scallops again overcooked and chewy/shrivelled. Worse to come was my daughter in-laws slouvaki chicken was raw inside. Thankfully she checked it since the lights were dim and everyone else would have eaten without looking. Waitress apologised and took it back - the chef brought out the same dish a few minutes later (even though we never asked) but daughter in-law did not want it so he unhappily took the dish back in kitchen (seemed very angry). This spoiled everything although other dishes were quite nice. Sadly wont go back again. Would have ended up in hospital. Raw chicken is unforgivable for any restaurant cook. Spoiled the whole evening having in and out of Devonport most our lives and had met the Greek owner Christina years in past - maybe it was sold? For those who are game to try it- we warn you to check the chicken!

Lovely family restaurant

A lovely relaxing evening dinner for our family - fresh food catering to all ages. Pizza was delicious and the Greek salad so fresh! But what I really liked was the lovely gentle music playing in the background and friendly waitresses. Nice way to spend a Friday evening.
