Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This restaurant is deserving of at least 2 Michelin Stars. It ranks with St. George by Heinz Beck in Taormina as one of the best restaurants I have eaten in over the past 5 years. Did the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings. Absolutely divine....The house made plum and fennel aperitif at the end puts limoncellos to shame. Started with Local Ouster with apple granita and apple cider. Progressed to a Wallaby Tartare with Wagyu Beef tendon done pork rind style, scampi corn dog and an eel taco with a nasturtium shell. Insanely good…wallaby was the star of the first four. Moved to a dehydrated and fire roasted tomato with a melon salad and cured pork. The octopus (which seems to be an appetizer du jour everywhere) was impeccably barbecued and served with carrot puree and sautéed carrots which were the highlight of the dish. Next up was Elk (my least favorite dish of the night but mostly bc I don’t truly love elk) it was presented perfectly and the vegetables and blackberry compote were awesome. Dessert was started by an amuse Boucher of a peach ice block and then followed with a papaya mousse and meringue served stops white chocolate crumbles and topped with tiny diced tomatoes and olive oil. Simply outstanding. And the service was impeccable and wine pairing interesting Had my first Orange Wine. Would not miss this restaurant if going to AucklandMore

Second floor room overlooking the harbour. Very welcoming and helpful staff We shared some small plates which were eclectic - tartare of wallaby , eel with onion dip, oysters with cider and scampi corn dog. Delicious morsels. Next 2 starters of straciatella with tomato and...melon and vodka cured salmon - amazing flavours. Excellently cooked and presented mains of lamb and red deer. This is very high quality cooking. We drank Pinot Gris , Syrah and a Merlot from Waiheke. These were expensive I thought compared to the fairly priced food Highly recommended to any foodies visiting AucklandMore

Great location overlooking the Harbour . Staff were welcoming and helpful We tried a selection of unusual small plates including tartare of wallaby , eel with onion dip , oysters with cider and scampi corn dog All were delicious and beautifully presented. Next 2 starters...of stracciatella with tomato and melon and vodka cured salmon Finally we had superb land and red deer perfectly cooked This is very good food indeed. Should be in the Michelin guide We had fantastic local wines including Pinot Gris, Syrah and a Merlot from Waiheke. These were steep enough in price with I suspect a big mark upMore

This was our first time at Ahi and we shall return. We have followed Ben Bayly for a while (Origine, also in Commercial Bay & Little Aosta, in Arrow town are also excellent) . Ahi is another class act. Excellent food, super location. Loved the...oysters, and the 'venison" black pudding, hidden in the Venison/Deer main course, is something else. Over all service was good and the staff friendly. Only slight quibble was server focus did lapse later clearing course, but this did not detract from the experience.More

We booked the tasting experience here based on a friends recommendation. It exceeded all expectations. The view looking over the harbor added to the ambience, but the main attraction was the food. Every dish was delicious. We tried foods we had never had before and...loved them. Highly recommend!More

Ahi is a beautiful restaurant. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and provided details of the menu. She recommended the 4 entrees + 4 main. After reviewing, it was more food than we could eat. We decided to order a...la carte. We ordered entrees, main and dessert. Unfortunately, our server turned stone cold once we ordered, as we didn’t go with the 4-course entree and main dishes. She was not attentive and never checked in with us. Food was fabulous, but the service was based on what your ordered, which is extremely disappointing.More

Located aside the commercial Bay food court, the restaurant feels like a standalone restaurant and not part of a shopping, complex or food court, classy decor which matches the style of the menu. Open kitchen with visible chefs hard at work and clean environment. Nice...very menu with some meatand vegetarian options. Extensive wine list available I live in Auckland and will be back soon!More

We traveled around NZ for 3 weeks with great food. This was our last night and surpassed all the excellent food we had. We sat at the table overlooking the kitchen area and had so much fun watching all the attention to detail in the...plating. Each dish was incredible with so many textures and flavors. I’m a picky eater and was nervous but this was by far the best dining experience of our lives! Thank you, Chef!!More

Poor service for the price point. I was a solo diner who arrived before 5pm on a Monday for my reservation. The staff was having their meeting and I felt ignored. My waitress seemed like she was filling in as she did not appear to...be enjoying her job. I was the only person dining in the restaurant for about an hour. After my food came I only saw her once more in 45 minutes. They cleared my table as if I had departed while I went to the bathroom (for less than five minutes) which I never have had happen to me. Even the cheapest restaurants don’t do that. Multiple staff kept on walking by and making eye contact and did nothing more. The saving grace was Leo. He was proactive and noticed I needed another drink even though that wasn’t his job. He is the only reason this place gets two stars. Thank you Leo! He should be promoted. The food and drink were acceptable given the price point but I still left with a bad taste in my mouth due to the poor service.More

After 4 weeks of enjoying a fantastic culinary/wine journey throughout Australia and New Zealand we had high expectations for a great experience at Ahi on our final night of an incredible tour. Indeed there was a great buzz/atmosphere especially as it was a Monday evening...and the location enjoys good views. However we were left underwhelmed by both our starters and mains which although good quality and well presented lacked any “wow” factor and a wine list which was frustrating and overpriced.More

Extremely elevated food! Gorgeous local ingredients are the shining stars of this menu. Go with a group to try several dishes. Insta worthy plating. Definitely a shining star in the Auckland food scene. A lovely harbour view compliments and completes your dining experience.

Everything (well 99%) was exceptional. Service, attention, pace of food coming out, cocktails, off beat but logical wine selections available by the glass, good range of New Zealand whiskies. Food presentation and flavours first rate. Love the back story of their own farm. Only one...quibble- more cheese is needed on the platter! But cannot recommended highly enough!More

Should have been our special final lunch before going back to Brazil; our friends had told us we would have a great experience. The waiter not only got the orders incorrectly, but also took too long to realize that our food was not being prepared......After more than one hour waiting for the main dish, almost the entire other tables are leaving the restaurant. Food was good, but there was one dish missing. Maybe we were unlucky, but I will never recommend this one.More
