5 star restaurant. We had dinner here 3 nights and breakfast 4 mornings. The food at dinner was amazing. I can only guess that the chefs are very creative and each little component of the dish compliments the entire plate. Over our 3 dinners we...had entries of octopus, fish crudo. Mains were venison, lamb rack, fish of the day, duck and pea agnorotti? All fantastic and worthy of high praise. Majority of time we were looked after by Mikaela and Ben who were both excellent at their job and extremely knowledgeable. I'm sure both will go a long way in your organisation. Well done and lived it all.More
We traveled to New Zealand for our wedding anniversary holiday staying at the SO hotel in Auckland before boarding the Viking Orion. The staff at the SO hotel were impeccable a special mention must be given to Ben our waiter and also Port assistant
We were absolutely blown away by the service at this restaurant. My husband and I were actually staying at another hotel across the road, but had already eaten there and were not very impressed so we walked across the road to the So. From the...moment we walked in, we were really impressed by all of the staff, Michaela, Ben, Kiara, and especially Florian the manager. This place provided a level of service that you never see in New Zealand. Everyone was so welcoming, professional and helpful. We took all of their advice and recommendations on what to eat and our meal was fabulous. We can’t wait to go back again.More
Well located at the top of the Sofitel hotel in the Auckland CBD, we enjoyed a commanding view of the harbor in an elegant environment. This is the second time in a month that we have eaten here. Both times the knowledgeable Michaela expertly explained...the menu, wine choices, and served us with just the right amount of presence. She was ably assisted by the rest of the service team. All were pleasant and professional. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and of the highest quality. The fresh oysters were accompanied by a delicate granité that enhanced, rather than hid, their fresh taste. The charred courgette dish was fantastic on its own. The fish of the day was moist, perfectly cooked, and a good-sized portion. We splurged on the Chateaubriand, which may have been the most tender beef I have ever eaten, anywhere. It was perfectly cooked to medium rare and still managed to be crusty and perfectly seasoned. The accompanying truffle butter was almost “gilding the lily”. The ‘all about chocolate’ dessert satisfied our chocolate craving, emphasizing the chocolate notes, without being too sweet. We sometimes hesitate to eat in hotel restaurants, but we were so impressed the first time that we ate here that we booked again for tonight and are glad we did. We aren’t even staying at this hotel and we highly recommend this restaurant. Top notch in every way!More
Oysters were not that great, but service was good, food took a while to come to the table, they should just leave the basket of bread instead of serving it to guests, the fish was good!
Amazing food, service and atmosphere! We were celebrating my birthday and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it. Sam was very accurate in his description of the menu!!
The food is very delicious. The pork belly and market fish is the best .The chef and staff also very nice especially Manisa.
Beautiful flavours and without overfeeding me. Service was great with Joy always smilingly available with good recommendations for both wine and food.
Loved this restaurant..Amazing view and absolutely delicious food. All the waitresses were sooo friendly but special shout out to Manisa who was vey sweet and particularly attentive.
I have been to Harbour Society a few times and have had the pleasure of eating from the new menus that is changed up every so often. Todays menu was absolutely delicious! Definetly recommend the ribeye! As always the desserts are just delicious (i am...a dessert fan) I love the food here and so does my partner. The view was great on the 15th floor. I would recommend this place for the food and overall vibe. Aside from the awesome food. We had wonderful servers who were friendly approachable and knowledgable of the food. Tonight, the server really made our night! Special shout out to Pheena for her friendliness, approchability, knowledge and laughs. You know how they say people make or break a place.. Pheena was just amazing and she really went above and beyond. So thank you Pheena!More
Great service by Ian - he helped make our colleague’s farewell feel extra special with his care and consideration during our dinner. Thanks so much Ian - we will be back for sure!
While in Auckland we thought we would have a quick bite to eat and both of us being Advantage Plus Gold Members, scanned the Accor websites we settled on the “Express Lunch” at the SO/ Auckland. We arrived at 1pm to a sparsely populated restaurant,...(not a good sign?) The friendly wait person got us seated, watered and an all-day menu but no express lunch menu. I asked for the missing menu, and she reluctantly produced a copy with the stipulation that the management had decreed that if we going to order it, we must both have it, not just one person express and the other from the main menu. So, we reluctantly agreed. She then went off to place the order with the kitchen only returning to announce that the chef says that because the menu has an entrée of soup, (Oops, sorry velouté), customers must order from the Express Menu a day in advance to give the chef time to make it. Surely the chef could have offered a replacement alternative? BTW the reason for the managements decision that customers must both order the same menu was that they would be eating courses at different times. Surely this a decision for the paying customer to make? If I had come by myself, it would not have been a problem. So, their philosophy that eating and drinking should be enjoyable and relaxing are just a market manager’s weasel words not followed in practice. We are interested in trying dinner one day to see if a different chef offers service closer to their philosophy.More
Easy access to Restaurant on 15th floor. Great views. No reservation, were seated towards back of restaurant. Quite chilly, had to put on jackets. Front of restaurant sunny and warm with large glass windows so air conditioning on cool for whole restaurant which cooled our...bowl of chips down fast, Only two overworked wait staff who had to man desk as well. Mushroom risotto main very tasty but smaller than friend’s entree of what was essentially quartered tomatoes on mashed ricotta cheese. Unattractive and not very pleasant. After long wait asked for menus for dessert. They arrived half hour after ordering. So a wait of almost an hour after finishing savouries to receiving desserts of petit fours and chocolate tart, which were very good. Only a couple of Accor restaurants in CBD with La Maree at the Sofitel closed and the others not available for discount. Won’t be returning or renewing Accor membership.More
