Why call it Giraffe? Hidden somewhat in a corner of the Viaduct maybe it’s just trying to draw attention to itself, but that didn’t work. We practically circumnavigated the place in ever decreasing circles till it drew us into its orbit and the waiter gleefully...escorted us to the booked table for four. It was our last night in Auckland and we wanted to treat our friends to dinner. The girls scoured menus on the web looking for somewhere to celebrate a great week, and this looked likely. They were not wrong.
The service was friendly, cheerful, prepared to engage in lively banter, prompt and very knowledgeable, even on fine details of food preparation. The food was exceptional - entrees, mains and deserts for all: whitebait, mussels ( recipe included); duck, swordfish, chook, and an exquisite medley of vegetables; cheeseboard and tiramisu. All lubricated with fine beer, wine and coke, and rounded off with the finest expression of Laphroaig.
Many thanks for a special night out. Like your giraffe, head and shoulders above the crowd -cheers!More
