On our anniversary we wanted to indulge in our shared favourite cuisine, Indian, and were so happy to find a more up-market, fancy, Indian restaurant! We were equally excited for the food and the cocktails, and left not only not disappointed, but actually impressed and stoked, by both! The service was spot on - from the lady who greeted us at the door, to the manager, who came and checked on us and wished us a happy anniversary. Shout out to my folks, who organised extravagant cocktails to be delivered to our table to start us off - which made us feel very looked after and a little bit special. (What an idea to make people feel good!). Props to 1947 for pulling off the surprise. Price wise it was great value for money! Leaving with full tummy’s (plus a bag of leftovers) and a little bit tipsy, we set off to catch an Uber home VERY happy, satisfied, and impressed! 100% would recommend!

Ambience is good. Staff is great and service is very good and quick. But the vegetarian opitons are very less. Menu is limited. Vegetarian Food we tried was quite heavy loaded with butter, cream. Some simple vegetable perpartion can be added in the menu.

The food at 1947 is amazing - authentic yet presented with an elegant twist. Cool vibe, good music. The service, on the other hand is extremely poor( maybe we were just unlucky with our servers ?). One was too busy chatting at the front desk instead of filling our water glasses and checking that everything was ok with us. The other one who we flagged down to ask where our raita, chutney and naan bread was to accompany the meal which we had already started, said the food only came out when it was ready !! It would have been so easy to have just said ‘ Sorry, let me see about that” !! Unbelievable how many servers argue instead of just following up on things. Go for the food, but hopefully the service is better.

Food was OK, but the service we received really ruined our experience, we attended on the 1st of February with a group of 4 and we have never been so rushed and pushed to leave a restaurant before. Starters were fine, but they made us order desserts when our mains hadn't even arrived and then when we actually got our meal, we were given about 15 minutes to eat our mains when the desserts were brought to our table even if we hadn't finished our meal, they didn't gave us fresh plates at any point during the meal, not even for desserts, and they barely gave us 10 minutes to eat our desserts when they told us we had to leave the restaurant because they were closing. I do understand that they can't stay opened all night for customers, but they basically kicked us out at 10pm which is not even that late, and rushed us constantly during the long hour we spent there. It is something I can understand from a more casual establishment, but from a restaurant with a smart dining approach and charging the prices they charge, its unacceptable.

Unfriendly customer service, the waiter kept saying the menu is not flexible for taste of clients when we asked for food to be indian hot. We were not told the quantity is less and when we got the food served the proportion of Naan and curry were not balanced at all. The waiter cleared the empty basket of Naan without asking which was rude and we were still eating. The introduction by the waiter was our restaurant is 1947 eatery celebrating indian independence but to be honest it didn't feel like we had freedom to choose what we wanted to eat..my friend was suggesting it should have been 1946 eatery rather as we didn't have a say..is this pedantic place? When we paying the bill the same waitress who was serving us wanted to give us discount for bill if we were not happy with service or food..we just mentioned that we want to write feedback about the eating experience. It was my birthday yesterday and I wanted to have a good experience but to be honest I didn't enjoy it and would not come back or recommend anyone to go to 1947 eatery at all. Want to ask you guys what does customer service mean to you? Are you there for customers or just for yourself? What would you do if someone is not okay to have the kind of spice and state you provide..would you ask them to leave? When we finished the starters we had to ask the waitress to bring new plates as she was reluctant to bring new ones.. I'm a connoisseur of good food but expect good customer service and good value for my money when I want to have a good experience but unfortunately my birthday gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully you guys as a team will think about his and make some amendments in the future in your customer service. At the moment I won't recommend anyone to go to 1947 Eatery at all. If you have any questions feel free to contact me, I am leaving my name and contact number below. Hardi 0223304647 0 Likes, 0 Comments

Never stepping back here again. The food was average for our entrees and pathetic for our main- achari baigan. We booked a late table and wanted to bide our time especially when there was an extensive bar onsite, boasting of some run of the mill and modern cocktails but the service staff had other ideas. There were constant reminders of their closing times which just ruined the whole experience. We were then served our mains along with the dessert menu and another reminder to order the dessert there and then. I would have walked out but chose to stay as it was a mates birthday shout. I’ve been a part of the hospitality industry for as long as can remember and have never experienced service as bad as this. The food can be given another chance and things can go wrong with ala carte menus but if customers get told to order desserts even before their start eating their mains- the management clearly needs to overhaul their idea of service, specially when you portray to be a modern Indian diner in the heart of a super city.

I took my team for dinner at 1947 Eatery because it had great rating on google. The team love having good curry every now and then. Sadly the food wasn’t nice at all, the chicken 65 and lollipop chicken were so dry and oily no taste what so ever, had masala chai it was gross can make better at home and the lamb biriyani was missing lamb only two little piece of meat in the whole plate of rice. The rest of meals ordered was similar not nice tasting and not worth the price. I truly don’t understand what the hype is about. The waiter serving us kept forcing us to order more things like seriously why trying to upsell when one can only eat one meal. Not returning that back ever!

Hi Shereen, We are equally disappointed that you did not enjoy our meal. Just to be clear, we do not have chicken 65 on our menu and our Wannabe Drumsticks (Lollipop chicken) do come with szechuan sauce to dip them into. Our lamb biriyani has been our award winning dish and we are suprised and disappointed you did not enjoy it. We currently have no process in place to track staff's sales, so we are unsure why they would be pushing you for sales. However, after your feedback we have re-iterated to all floor staff to recommend but not upsell.

The kheema pav was amazing so we decided to try something different and ordered the rawa crab. But the crab appeared to be frozen and definitely not fresh which affected the flavour if the dish. And I'm sorry 25 bucks for a small plate of frozen seafood is not good value for money. At all. The pav bhaji had way too many Bell peppers mashed into it and this changed the flavour of what the dish should taste like. Every year they do something special for mums which is so appreciated. And the waiting staff are always obliging and attentive so I didn't have the heart to critique the food. But I would like to give them another chance in a couple of years so I hope they take this feedback on board.

My experience with this restuarant was that it was totally over priced. All the food 'from the pot' is made in big batches and therefore they aren't able to change how spicy some dishes are. This would definitely affect a lot of families! Rice doesn't come with any dish and is $4 extra. Free peanuts were a nice touch but I don't think I would come again :) service was nice, atmosphere was nice, I just personally don't need to spend $$$ for this curry, nothing about it made it worth spending extra money for. P.s. the rawa crab was dissapointing, super super small dish for $24.

We dined here after emaiing this restaurant beforehand to make the kitchen aware of my daughter’s allergies who was joining us, and if they could accommodate her. We were told this was possible . However, this evening when we attended, we were most disappointed with the service, lack of effort to accommodate us and the poor quality of the food we were served. The waiter who was looking after us basically said to us that the only food my daughter could eat was okra chips and some chutneys and salad. I asked him to please check with the chefs if it was possible to please make a dish for her without her allergens – this was addressed before we went to the restaurant so should have been possible to be done. Multiple times, the waiter went back and fro to the kitchen to check with the kitchen staff, yet the same answer was received i.e. “it can’t be done, these are the only things she can eat”. After a whole hour of negotiation, another waiter was finally able to help us, who spoke to the kitchen about making an eggplant dish without her allergens. Remainder of dishes, rice was not served with. You have to order and pay for rice separately . Who serves butter chicken without rice? And 5 pieces of chicken floating in gravy for $30?! Shocking service, poor choice of menu, for a top restaurant I would save my money and go elsewhere, and support a local struggling Indian restaurant where I would get better service and who would be more accommodating. How can a top restaurant that has so many excellent reviews not be able to accommodate a guest with multiple allergies in an allergy- prone world we live in today? A top restaurant which have “chefs” should be able to provide a meal from scratch-no excuses-that’s what chefs do. After a massive meal that cost us nearly $500, we all walked away still hungry, feeling angry, ripped off, and sure never to return to 1947 restaurant again.

Starting with the One Love cocktail, beautifully presented in a glass dome with wood smoke, we found the flavours and presentation really exquisite. Though familiar with Indian cuisine we got good advice from our server about an additional dish to combine with our choices. It was really good to see 1947 thriving on a Saturday night with a diverse and obviously satisfied clientele. Highly recommended

The food, the ambience, the service everything is just amazing. The staff is very attentive and are well versed with their menu. The food, is probably the best indian meal i have had in a long time. The kheema pav was flavourful, the fish was well cooked and the bade miyan chicken was the highlight of the meal. The laccha paratha and rumali roti were made to perfection. To end it all we ordered masala tea and jalebi and this was an amazing experience that I would probably never forget. We will definitely be going back to try out other stuff of their menu.

Certainly not a massive fan of Indian cuisine, but I enjoy it from time to time. Went on Friday nite with some colleagues prior to heading to the rugby. Very pleased with the excellent service, the very helpful and friendly staff, and some good food. Pressed for time, and with 9 of us, we asked the manager to simply serve us his recommendations as shared dishes. Some very nice and interesting choices! Would thoroughly recommend particularly if you have a passion for Indian cuisine !

We were emailed tge day after dining and I opted to respond via email rather than here, my other option. 10 days on I've had no response, no acknowledgement, so I am unsure wjat to conclude from that. We were very disappointed with our experience, which fell below the standard of somewhere that has apparently won awards. After wanting to try the restaurant for months, and having to cancel our last booking due to illnesses, we had great expectations. Food: Average. We asked for spicy food and were promised a side of chillis that never appeared. The chilli chicken was a bit hard and wasn't bery "chilli". Biryani very nice but not at all spicy. Lamb too mild. Service: The main waitress was attentive but appeared too frequently, from before I got a menu to before we had decided. We only had one drinks menu so there was another delay in ordering food. Drinks: Both the red and white European wines, nice. I opted for red wine for my second glass. It was very nice but far too warm, so I asked a girl whose role I couldn't put a name to as she was just sort of standing around nearby. She clearly didn't understand what ice is, and instead of sending a colleague over, went back to her milling about position. Eventually I went to the bar and asked for it myself but was dismayed that the server touched it with his fingers. We really wanted to enjoy it as we'll be away overseas for a while and it was on our bucket list. On a positive, we found the atmosphere very good, loved the decor.
