Love this little pub, great for nights out or a bite to eat! They do burgers which are cheap during weeknights and I have tried there bao buns and fried chicken both really great so I am guessing the rest of the menu would be good too. Great selection of drinks ciders, beers and wines. Reasonable prices, they also have live music which is always fun to listen to. If you haven't been I would highly recommend trying them out!

with regular live music and events. Always busy. Great atmosphere. Good pub grub and wide range of craft beers. My only complaint is that the beer menu does not detail the alcohol volume % which is an important guide for a host of reasons. Poor bar tender has to waste precious time on a busy evening to check this information on all the beers I was considering before settling for a 6% IPA. Should be 5 star but 4 in view of failure to provide this obvious detail.

A Monday night and, though seemed a popular place, it was not necessary to make a booking. Eclectic mix of decor, live music, comfortable seating inside and out, varied menu, excellent meal at reasonable prices.

This is a great little place for a burger and drinks. The food is simple and really good - the staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is really cool - we have been in the early evening and the vibe is great.

Dropped in for a beer and snack. The place must be pet friendly as a customer walked in with her King Charles Spaniel. We ordered two beers but got completely stood up by staff while at the bar, they remembered us eventually. Also, there was a bit of confusion at the till. However....the food we ordered was superb. Second to none. The Portland is worth a try just make sure you get your beers.

Making the choice to drive into kingsland for the rugby last Saturday was a good one.having never been to this area before . Many choices to eat at we chose this place(no idea why) again it turned out to be a good one.the atmosphere was good and the food tasty gives it a crack ya won't be disappointed

We had lunch at the Portland Public House. It's big, and there is a cute enclosed patio area (but people were smoking there so we skipped it). The food was pretty good. Their nachos were very yummy and the pizza was average. Lots of beer-- nothing bad but nothing really stand out either. The service was good and the staff was friendly. They do live music, but not while we were there.

The pub style meal was accompanied by the best beer. But nothing was as good as the music. The musicians were fantastic, and played great tunes. We couldn't leave.

Awesome little Kingsland Bar. Good music, good food, and reasonably priced. Special mention goes to the Jalepeno poppers which are outstanding. There’s a little stage here and live music on weekends. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth a look if you’re in the area.

This is a great trendy bar in Kingsland, come early to get a seat. Have been here a few times for some gigs like Albi and the Wolves very cool band and a cool venue. The bar staff are always friendly as well. Came here to try the fried chicken I had heard so much about. It was really nice and it wasn't greasy, comes sitting on a coleslaw. Good but not the best in Auckland. Also tried the pulled pork quesadilla which was really delicious!

Being a backpacker you need affordable yet good food. The Portland has now become myself and 3 other friends regular payday hangout. We go for the $6 burger offer they are currently running which finishes at 7pm. Have visited once out of this offer and don't mind paying the highest cost as the burgers are awesome. I have gone for the Beef and Chicken burger with shoestring fries and lemonade all for $15! There is a large amount of fries which is great for me and the burger is a good size. The other menu dishes I have yet to experience but the costs are reasonable for the location. The vibe is always nice and there's a great outdoor area which is covered when need be, if you know the NZ weather. First night we visited there was live music which wasn't overwhelming. There is also a section in the middle of the front and back areas which can be more of a intimate area if you are with a partner or would like a quite spot. Staff are friendly and food comes out at a good speed. They don't have a hot plate/light in the kitchen so we did get a cold burger once but that didn't bother us. I would recommend a visit on or off the offer!

The food was delicious!! The burger was great value for money, in fact all of the food was amazing and incredibly affordable. Great spot, would go again

I caught up with my old mates at this bar and we ordered food and some drink ;) there was awesome live. Staffs are friendly she looked after us well ;) I def go back there again.
