We were in Darwin during the coronavirus pandemic, so were pretty limited in what we could do. We Google'd "good coffee" and up came Cafe Central. We very much enjoyed our takeaway coffees and the cakes were sensational. We actually went back a couple of times and I think our daughter is becoming a regular. All time favourite was the orange syrup cake, although the lemon and chocolate cakes were also amazing. We cannot wait to get back to Darwin and actually enjoy everything this cafe has to offer, including the coffee in real cups/glasses

We have had the benefit of more than a few breakfasts in Darwin over a period of time. This place is the best. A lot of places do smashed avocado etc but do they have fried capers and finely sliced fried onion. Taste the difference.
Mrs S had an omelette cooked as if a pizza with genuinely hot chorizo.
Coffee is double shot which may not be to everyone’s taste but I am sure you can have a conversation about that.
Can’t wait to return.

Cafe central is the best breakfast spot in Darwin. We often come here on weekends with our puppy. The mushroom special is delicious and they have the best coffee with double shots. The staff are great and nothing is ever too much hassle, they always bring out a water bowl for our puppy when we arrive. Definitely the best cafe in Darwin!

Nestled in the suburbs a short 15 - 20 minutes drive out of Darwin CBD is this hidden gem of a cafe. No where else we visited for breakfast comes close to the level of quality for food, coffee and service. We loved all of the food and the staff were beautiful too! Thank you so much xoxo

I have worked in the hospitality industry for over ten years and In saying, consider Cafe central to be the most consistent, pleasant, eatery in Darwin. Service is efficient without being invasive. Food is tasty, without being rushed or too slow. When stuck not knowing where to eat for breakfast cafe central is an easy solution.

This is a converted corner store in a quiet suburban street. It's ok when you are in the area but not special enough to seek out. It does get very, very packed with local clientele from the area. Coffee is served very hot compared to other places. Beans are great- strong with a bite, long queues for take away. Food is standard cafe fare and nothing special. Pastries were meh. As expensive as the more hipster places in town.
I wouldn't go out of your way to find it.

Great little find away from large crowds (school holidays). Best coffee around and Avacado Smash breaky with poached egg was sensational. Hubby ordered the breaky burrito was also very impressed. Best find around for breaky and coffee. Highly recommend a visit.

If you are in Darwin and you are looking for breakfast, go to Cafe Central. I don't think I have ever had such a delicious breakfast as the one I had here. It was avocado smash on sourdough with marinated goats feta, tomatoes and - wait for it - capers and fried shallots - omg so delicious. I've been back a few times now and the food here is out of this world. Best cafe in Darwin I think.

Had a shaky start cooked me the wrong omelet but the food and coffee made up for it. Yet another great find from the entertainment book. Had breakfast here 3 times in a week something different each visit every dish was yummy. Will be back next March on my next Darwin trip. Lovely spot and nice staff.

we have been going to Central Cafe, on a regular basis, for a number of years. Up to date it has been excellent, today was a big disappointment. the food served ( Bacon and Eggs) was cold. The bacon that was normally crisp was limp and the eggs were cold. we notified the staff and received a discount of 50%. I would have much rather have had a hot Breakfast. we may not go again.PS the coffee was, as usual .excellent.

Lovely cafe tucked away in the suburbs which is usually the case in Darwin.
Wonderful food. Good menu that caters for all tastes and most importantly great coffee. I mean a cafe without good coffee isn’t a cafe!

I rarely give reviews, but in this instance am compelled to do so. I’ve been going to Central Cafe for a few years now. It’s incredibly well managed, the staff are wonderful and efficient, and the food + coffee is consistently great. As my staple cafe, it’s bought a lot of joy to my life and been a constant source of good energy. Do yourself a favour and swing by. You won’t regret it.

Whether it’s breakfast or lunch I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food or service at Central Cage in Rapid Creek, Darwin! I’m lucky to be a local and can frequent this cafe regularly!
