Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Once again we enjoyed our time at Sake Bar Nippon, easy to make on line booking, very friendly staff. Although we received our small 'entre' bowls within minutes, I was so disappointed that I had to wait over 40 minutes for my scotch fillet steak...dish. By that time my bowl of rice was cold and had to be reheated and, although I asked for medium rare steak, the pieces were over done and rather chewy. I did eat it all though as, by that time, I was very hungry. We will return as the restaurant is handy to the Lido Cinema, is a cultural experience and has a varied, delicious menu.More

I once had a problem with this restaurant because the owner charged me $12.00 corkage which I thought was exorbitant. As I love Japanese food decided to go back after many years and just get a glass of wine. I am glad I did the...food is excellent the atmosphere is amazing and now I don't take a bottle of wine the price is good. The atmosphere is made by the excellent chefs who beat a drum everytime a customer comes and leaves with Japanese spoken to add to the mix and not knowing what they are saying intrigues. I will always be against the charges that she charged me but have too except this restaurant is good.More

Nothing to fault. Every dish was absolutely delicious. Even tried the bbq chicken hearts and ended up ordering seconds. Fresh, vibrant, yummm!!! And delicious sake to wash it down with. A perfect evening!

Fried Rice was going to be cooked after we had finished our meal. Not satisfactory. Felt food expensive and no byo now a big disadvantage for us. Not a return to place we decided.

Great spot to pop in for dinner after the movies at lido. Just wish they didn't have avacado in all the sushi options and salads

Really great people running this place. Noisy and lots of laughter. Great food and sake list and the sushi is divine.

I went back to this restaurant for the first time in years. I had gone there weekly for about a year and found out the price they charged for corkage and decided it was too expensive. I went back and didn't take a bottle of...wine. The atmosphere in this restaurant is amazing, the staff are enthusiastic and the food is delicious watching the chefs cooking is a bonus. I will not be going there often as I am still not happy with the corkage price but I have to admit this is a classy restaurant and if I were not so stubborn I would go there more frequently. To all the staff that made my visit so enjoyable I would like to say thank you, you make the restaurant an amazing place to eat at keep up the good work.More

Super vibrant, fun atmosphere at this Japanese restaurant. The menu is large and varied. We had sashimi that was 'melt in the mouth', along with a delicious vege stir fry and teriyaki chicken. Couldn't fault anything. The venue is eclectic and staff are very efficient....Great prices for the area too.More

3 of us went for dinner here a couple of nights ago. We had a booking. When we knew we were going to he 15 minutes late, we called the restaurant but there is no one you can actually talk to. It goes to a...voice mail. We left a message anyhow. When we walked in, there was a bit of looking around and 'wait here's while she went looking for the booking and table. She then said, 'come with me' and led us out the front door and into next door. Here there was 1 table occupied and it was quiet. No chefs or anything- an empty kitchen and no atmosphere. Where we had been was full and buzzing. So we explained we had booked a table and why had they had sat us here, in the overflow area. We advised them we would wait for a table to come free in the first place. Within 10 minutes we were taken back to where we had started. It is BYO and I think if you want to be BYO then offer something decent to drink. The Sauvignons were brands I had not heard of and so we asked for a taste of the 2 on offer as we wanted to buy a bottle. Neither tasted good and they still wanted $55 for a $10 bottle of wine. I think having a licensed premises, it is a good reason to charge your patrons ridiculous mark ups. I am a retailer and could not imagine getting away with multiplying a RRP price by 5 and think this was perfectly acceptable. We had an array of different things to eat and it was tasty but no better than others I have had. My local in Mt Wellington Hokkaido, is far better and is BYO. The pork was very chewy ++. Other dishes tasty and saucy but not a Wow. I probably wouldn't bother going back unless we were invited by friends. The staff were friendly and reasonably attentive, but not a reason to return.More

I tell everyone I don't like Japanese food - but now I know a bit more about it. We had a large party here for dinner & chose the $40 banquet menu. I don't like the raw/sushi type food but there was lots of other...things for me to pick from. Had a brilliant time here - the service & guys that are bringing the food seem to be "straight from Tokyo" - very authentic. Very good at coming back to see if you want anything else. Desserts were basic, but nice. Karaoke at end of the night was great (not sure if the other diners thought so though)More

We were first in the door and loudly welcomed by all the staff and beating of the drums - been there before so knew what to expect every time new diners arrived and left. Meal was delicious and we will be back.

I held my birthday party in the upstairs room, where an array of tempting dishes were presented to our guests. The drum beat to welcome new arrivals and the buzz makes this place full of character. Some food a bit oily, but most was tasty.
