Sought out good places to eat via the Michelin Guide near Stresa and found this gem. Should have a Michelin Star at least. Thanks very much to Ivan, Sabina and their team. Wonderful food and wines in a breathtaking location. Thanks for all the tips...and advice Ivan, the Lemontree was excellent. We will be back!More
It’s a unique place 30 min away from Stresa, combining majestic view of lake Maggiore, lack of tourists and talented highly advanced cousin. It’s a rare combination of sophistication and traditions. Other rated restaurants in Stresa were not comparable to Villa Pizzini in a quality...of food.More
A unique experience in everthing place, service but especially the gastronomy food. An explanation on every dish something which a lot of restaurants must learn from this.
It’s a lovely place - even on a pretty miserable day. We had never eaten inside before and it was charming: we had a little alcove to ourselves… so romantico. The amuse bouches are real highlights: three vegetarian mouthfuls of delight. Other high points are...the paperdelle with venison ragout and the cheese soufflé with vegetables and leaves. And it’s all such pretty food too - not just delectable. Definitely worth the extensive detour.More
What a lovely place up in the mountains. The food was excellent and the wine pairing was very good. The staff was friendly and the view was beautiful. Worth the taxi drive from Stresa
Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff who provided brilliant service. The food was incredible, the setting fabulous. Overall an excellent dining experience. 10/10 would recommend.
Beautifully curated plates of the most delicious food you'll ever eat in a setting that makes you feel like you are on top of the world. The service was exceptional and the knowledge of our host on both the topic of food and wine was...incredible. We ate at all three Michelin restaurants while in Stresa and, by far, Villa Pizzini was the best overall experience of the three. I just can't say enough about our fabulous meal.More
The best dinner I have ever had. Breathtaking views and super friendly host, Ivan. Will recommend & definitely visit again.
We came as a group of international friends (6 people, 5 nationalities) including 2 children. The pros: location is on top of Mottarone and has a wonderful view. The restaurant itself is very well mantained and designed. The atmosphere is elegant but cozy. We chose...the hunters menu, and overall most dishes were good with a special note on the deer tartare and the tiramisu. Two people in our party had lactose and gluten intolerance and the chef accomodated all of our needs with care. The cons: Manager is sadly unfriendly despite being perfectly bilingual Italian / English. Some examples: - Upon arriving my wife said in Italian : “Hi, we booked a table…” Manager interrupts and say: “Well if you just tell us the name of the table then we can find it” (note Italian is not my wife’s first language) - While chosing the wines we asked the difference between two wines with similar names, manager’s first response “Clearly if they have different names, they are two different wines” - When chosing the menus we were told that we should chose the course menu because “it would make our life easier” - Upon payment we were deciding how to split the bill, again rudely interrupted: “We do not accept split bills”. A bit of kindness in return would help sometime. Did we have a good night overall? Yes, hence the 3 stars thanks to the food and location. Would we come back? Unfortunately not, we did not feel welcome. Hats off for the chef who did an excellent job though.More
I will start by sating that I am so so sad to read so many lies about myself that I am truly unsure if they come from the sake of it or because of your not full comprehension of the English language. Luckily most of...More
It is a perfect little inn that is run by a food artist! When it comes to the inn, it is simply prefect and peaceful. The Inn is immaculately kept and a true respite to the world around you.. Its a lovely drive up to...the inn and once you get there the views are breathtaking. Its a perfect spot for some hiking/exploring in the fall/summer and I imagine it would be the perfect winter retreat for ski season. The owner is so very welcoming. He was kind enough to put out some cookies for my wife and I's arrival after a flight from New York and made sure our room was set up so we could/nap and freshen up. THE FOOD!!!!!!!! I ate in every Michelin listed restaurant in Stresa during my time there and this is, hands down the best! Yet, more than that, I would say that the restaurant is way under rated - it is truly Michelin star quality cooking with delicious food, fantastic wine choices and a staff that loves what they do. My wife and I went to bed in the Villa Pizzini feeling cared for, cozy and in awe of the dinning experience we thoroughly enjoyed. AND we woke to an amazing breakfast!More
Magical in every detail, Villa Pizzini joins our "top restaurants ever" list. Details matter: a cozy corner seat, artful table wear, tasteful jazz not too loud, thoughtful service. When the bread is delightful, the meal will be wonderful as well: bread sticks with olives baked...in, housemade rosemary with white chocolate. We had two pasta choices- Passatelli with brussel sprouts in a savory broth to die for, and Cardinali di Villa Pizzini - flavor bursts of parmigiana in baskets of perfect pasta covered with black truffel. For main the roast game was wild boar- tender and moist, and a savory vegetarian creation around celery root. The pumpkin pannacota to top it off. Did I mention the wine list? 30 "by the glass" choices kept fresh with Coravin.More
This is truly a hidden gem! Located high up on top of a mountain, this restaurant offers spectacular views, delicious food and amazing service. You can see the beautiful Lake Maggiore on a clear day and have cocktails on a terrace prior to dinner. Dinner...was quite an experience: great taste, amazing presentation and there was nothing plain or ordinary about everything we tried! It felt like we were back in San Sebastian with the view and Italian hospitality! It is not easy to get to the restaurant, but I would absolutely do it again next time I am in Stresa!More
It has been a long time I haven't felt this way about a culinary experience. Everything was perfect from the moment you arrive until after you've left: the attention to details Ivan and his team had with the food, the wine and the service was...simply amazing. Every effort was made to make us feel welcome and live a great experience. The wine pairing on the tasting menu was very well thought, they arranged a great vegetarian option for my partner and Ivan even organized a winery visit for us on the next day on a wine that we enjoyed that evening. It is worth the trip there, we will definitely be back. Thanks for the lovely evening and the warm welcome.More
We came across Villa Pizzini almost by accident, having walked a little way uphill from the cable car terminal at Mottorone. Tucked into the trees a little way down, Villa Pizzini made us think of the gingerbread house in Hansel and Gretel! But there the...likeness ends. We were treated to the most amazing tasting menu sitting out on the terrace for lunch, accompanied by some lovely glasses of wine whilst gazing down towards Baveno on the lakeside and Isola Madre far far below. It was such a tranquil spot and the highlight of our last day in Stresa.More
