Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went in with low expectations as we like Indian north indian taste which many indian restaurants dont serve because of spicy nature but we discussed before hand with the gentleman who served us and he happily discussed and guided us through the menu and also customised the menu to make perfect dishes for us. The team were great. They served us very well and we would highly recommend it if you are looking for an Indian restaurant in Vilamoura. Also recommend visiting at night or quiet hours because otherwise I think place might get very busy.

We ordered take out via the Takeaway.com app on 2 occasions so far. Delivery both times took about 40 minutes as expected. The food was very good. Tasty and plentiful. However, there was an issue with one of the deliveries. One of our dishes was missing. After a phone call to the restaurant this was rectified in about 15 minutes. I would have given 5/5 otherwise. We will definitely order from them again.

Don’t let the look of th restaurant put you off, the food was simply amazing.
We were talking to someone who lives in Portugal and they said it was by far the best Indian restaurant there.
The staff were so attentive and made my curry just how I like it, not too spicy. It’s the first time I have managed to eat a full lamb curry.
We both had a mixed starter, and I can honestly say it was the best one I had eaten by far. There was all types of starters on our plate, some of which I have never tasted before, it was scrumptious.
My partner ordered a lamb madras, he loved it. We got plenty of chips and the pilau rice was Gorgeous, The taste was amazing, lemon grass and other Indian herbs, best I have ever tasted.l
If you go to the marina you must visit this hidden gem. It’s on the marina and is up some steps.
YUM YUM.

I wouldn’t recommend this Indian restaurant…
1: It’s Expensive, especially when you only receive four small prawns in a Vindaloo & Jalfrezi (€17 per dish).
2: Disorganised Service, a waiter rushing over with a bag of frozen prawns whilst we had to wait around 45mins for our main course wasn’t a confidence builder!
(It then came as no surprise that both our prawn dishes hardly contained any moments later as they had obviously run out in the kitchen. The waiter did ask if everything was ok with the meal and I then explained how shocked we were at the portion sizes!).
Oh, apart from my fathers tandoori grill…which did look rather substantial, albeit said ‘some of it is very tough to chew!’. Chicken Tikka Masala was also a disappointment, thigh meat? Just poor quality ingredients.
3: Bland flavours in the sauces which all tasted the same. Jalfrezi, Masala & Vindaloo should all have contrasting flavours surely? No, not here, they all looked and tasted identical! The three stooges sprung to mind!
This restaurant was actually so bad its now put us off dining around the marina in future. Certainly our most disappointing meal of the holiday.
By the end they obviously detected our dissatisfaction as we left over half of the food. And remember there wasn’t that much to begin with! That all said, they did have the decency to take the prawn vindaloo off the bill.
Still €100 for poor quality food and sketchy service left a bitter taste.
I always tip, but sadly on this occasion I just couldn’t which made it a really flat evening. So flat I’m now in bed at the villa writing this review and thinking about eating the cheese and ham roll from the fridge which was left over from lunch time!
This experience has put us off dining around the Marina in future. I think there is far better value away from the tourist traps. Better to order a cheap Uber / Taxi to an eatery that doesn’t rely on footfall. The best of these examples we enjoyed was ‘Sol e Mar’ in Quarteira - simply sublime fresh seafood with great attentive waiters.
Unlike this Indian, we will definitely be going for Sun and Sea again!
Now where’s that fridge?…

Great variety on the menu. Friendly, helpful service. Our waiter was able to provide help with choices for our daughter as well to provide options for my wife who is vegan. The chicken bhuna and chicken tikka dishes were great.

Oh boy!!!!
Murghal Clay! Disappointed to say the least.
I do love an authentic Indian curry. This one wasn’t up to scratch - not worth a visit.
Starters were okay but a bit bland and lacking a depth of flavour. The tandoori 1/2 chicken had not much eating on it - not sure what half of the chicken it was but it was devoid of any meat on the bones. It could’ve been quail (or sparrow !!) for the size of it.
Mains were were interesting, a couple of us had the chilli garlic chicken. The overpowering flavour was of salt and chilli powder that hadn’t been cooked down properly.
The pasandas had a lot of mint in them & you couldn’t taste the almond flavour.
My niece is young and only wanted chicken nuggets and chips - the ‘French fries’ had been triple or even quadruple cooked, but not in the fancy Heston Blumenthal way. These were just hard AF!!
The ‘chicken nuggets’ were unusual, shaped like fishes and with a chicken content of zero.
What was most disappointing was the service. They were uninterested and argumentative when we gave our feedback and issues during the meal. We got told ‘if you want authentic Indian food, go to India’. Enough said.
(Ps. I have been to India)

This place is up the stairs from the main marina walkway. But trust me you want to walk up those stairs. You can find the typical dishes of curry and you can find the not so typical. You can get the not so spicy or ask them to open their hand and give you all the spice. We enjoy heat and flavor. Our dishes of lamb madras and lamb jalfrezey were the perfect blend of flavor and heat. Customer service was excellent. Great atmosphere. Come and enjoy the flavor.

We already ate twice at Mughal Clay and were both visits very satisfied for a fair price.
We are both vegan and it was no problem for them to adjust and advise delicious dishes.
You have a view on the marina and won't get disappointed if you deside to dine here.
Much love and we will be back!

Being handed dirty, sticky menus, we should have taken that as a warning. We ordered 2 curries and a dal with some roti. The bread was pretty good but each of the 3 dishes had too much of every spice in them so they were overpowering, not with chilli, but everything else the chef had to hand. No clear flavour difference between them and very little lamb in one of them.
They need to address the balance of spicing and the texture of them all was quite thick and gloopy. Sorry Mughal but this was not for us.

Please visit this restaurant if you’re in the area and you enjoy Indian food.
The staff are the friendliest, Amit couldn’t do any more for you. He knows what great dishes to recommend and they make sure your glass is always topped up!
The best restaurant and service in vilamoura in my opinion.

This is not Indian food. All the dishes we ordered were varying shades of brown sludge. The prawns were so tough and rubbery they couldn’t be cut with a knife. We didn’t dare attempt to eat one! Simply cannot comprehend the thousand plus 5 star reviews! Avoid at all costs

As a family of four, including two very hungry teenagers, we stumbled across the Mughal Clay, during a week in Vilamora when we wanted a change of cuisine.
We were not disappointed.
30 seconds off the main Marina strip, you really ought to seek this restarant for the excellent food, service and atmosphere.
As with all restaurants we encountered during our stay, the hygiene standards were excellent too.
We had a lovely evening and will be returning next time we're in Vilamoura.

Me and my wife ate here and honestly could not fault the place. Set back just off of the Main Street of the marina and it’s a hidden gem. Service was faultless and the food was, as the title says, the best curry we’ve ever had. It even beats our faithful curry restaurant at home.
Highly recommend it to anyone debating on where to eat, especially if you fancy a curry.
