This restaurant provides beautiful food with excellent views across the river to the city. Our family group chose to lunch here for a special reunion and we were not disappointed. We were met at the door by the owner of the restaurant - a delightful...man who made us feel immediately welcome. The food was presented artistically and tasted fantastic. Fresh and delicious. The staff was were lovely - welcoming and helpful. Definitely recommend!More

Myself and six friends went for our Christmas lunch. The views were lovely but everything else was very average. The place was incredibly noisy to the point one end of our table couldn’t hear the other end. It was also freezing, one doesn’t expect to...be sitting in a freezer in summer. If you wanted a drink you had no hope as they never came back after the original drinks order. The food was very hit and miss. Only half the table enjoyed their meals, the pork belly was ridiculously dry. We ended up moving to the couches after the main meal to get away from the noise and cold but it was no better. We asked several times for the dessert menu before it eventually came. By then we decided we didn’t want to waste more time trying to get a dessert so we just had coffees, but they were all lukewarm. This was my first time at the Boatshed but I won’t be going back.More

We had a great get-together with some friends. All dishes were inventive, well cooked and presented. My favourites were the marinated mackerel entree which had an intriguing dressing on the salad. and the seafood linguine, which was packed with seafood, including baby clams. Others had...pumpkin tart, salt and pepper squid, steak tartare and soup of the day which came with a toasted baguette. The desserts were good, but a bit unimaginative compared to the rest of the meal. The sticky date pudding was, I think, chocolate cake, but was flavoursome all the same. Coffee was first class. The restaurant is large and the staff were kept busy, which meant that the service was a little slow. All the tables have superb views over the river to the city. There is plenty of parking and the tables are spaced so there is room for wheelchairs. Did not check out the toilets. I highly recommend having a meal there.More

Have eaten here several times. Our recent Sunday lunch was fairly unremarkable. Friendly greeting and seating. Great views. Temperature inside was comfortable. Enough choices to suit everyone’s platter but I found it difficult to get enthused about the main course offerings. Should have gone with...2 entrees in hindsight. Extensive drinks menu. Service was fine. Prices were on the higher side for lunch I thought. I hadn’t been aware of the 10% surcharge on a Sunday- this hiked it even further. On the plus side there is a set menu special on at the moment - it’d be a decent option for a special occasion dinner.More

Another 5 Star experience at The Boatshed in South Perth WA. We were so very happy with all aspects of our 70th Birthday Celebrations. Special thanks to Graham, Owen, Jade, and all staff. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely restaurant, great location, great service great staff. For the prices, the food was a bit short of the mark. The scallop dish for starter was tasty, apart from the pea purée- which did make a great decorative 90s style touch round the outside, but...added little to the dish. The scallops themselves were perfectly cooked, minuscule but perfectly cooked. The black pudding saved the day…nearly. Unfortunately it was not so much served with chorizo butter, as in an oil slick of chorizo butter. The poor pine nuts bravely tried to provide texture- the same a couple of grains of sand give texture to a litre of valvoline. Main course, the battered blue spot emperor - very tasty. Again sadly the oiliness of it detracted from it. The batter was crisp on the outside, but greasy on the inside. The green salad was exactly what it said on the tin. If again, the tin was a tin of oil. The dressing tasted nice but there was so much of it, and way too much oil in it. Dessert, chocolate cremaux. There needs to be a moritorium on the painted line of chocolate sauce across desert plates. Was a pointless waste of food in the 90s and hasn’t changed. The cremaux itself was fantastic, the little cone it came in was also delicious. Not sure about the tuile thing it was sat in? Looked odd, tasted like the biscuit that nobody eats from the selection box. Please please please, take the blueberry macaron off the dish. Macarons are wonderful treats, sweet and full of flavour, not nasty doughy lumps. The ice cream was nice and with the cremaux and cone would have been a great dish. The painted sauce could only have been outdone by adding some edible flowers… which it had, to round off a brilliant 80s look.More

We went twice to the Boatshed Café - which is in the same building as the restaurant. Both times, my flat white was excellent and our food was tasty and satisfying. A lovely location by the water and with a nice view of the city.

Back in the day, I used to work in South Perth, so having secured accommodation in the same suburb, felt it would be right to have dinner, as it turned out not too far from either the hotel, nor my old stomping ground, (which has...changed ALOT, by the way). One thing I did not miss about Perth was the frustration trying to find parking, - I thought that being so nearby that it wouldn't be a problem, then saw the sign about a fish and chip fest? (More about that later). Once again, I was lucky to secure a bay and managed to walk (very quickly) and arrived a bit more flushed and sweaty than I wanted to. Another thing I forgot, the sun is still very much up and bright even by 7pm. The lovely staff attended to me promptly and as I stood there in the entryway, I gazed up to the pitched roof with its dark beams, reminded of being in a bow of a ship, looking out through the large windows across the water to the city straight ahead. The ambience was very laidback with the patrons (groups of family and friends) with the sounds of happy voices and the look of those who are spending their money making it very pleasant. I was seated directly in front of the pier with the city as a backdrop and I could feel very relaxed while I watched a few punters try their luck with their reels and rods. I particularly loved the family of black swans I saw follow eachother around the pier, trying their luck as well. At times like this, I feel very lucky to be in Perth. Travelling the same day made me very hungry, but battling the heat during the drive had given me restraint so settled on the Beef Carpaccio and the Sous Vide Salmon with a coke on the side. Once ordered, I waited and noticed that there was a small enclosed space for children and was told the same building housed a cafe as well. It was closed at the time I was there. The 'Smoked Beef Carpaccio' was smartly presented, dressed and ready to go. I could smell the truffle oil before I saw the plate, and the meat was fridge cold, but quickly realised that was an advantage as the seasonisg was initially strong but the flavour came through thanks to the texture and colour of the beef was darker than expected. The parmesan and rocket balanced eachother and it was altogether a lovely dish. Before I had finished eating, the Sous Vide Salmon arrived which was also fridge cold. I didn't mind - it was a very hot day. The cucumber sitting at the bottom of the dish within the yuzu broth were sweet and tender but the wasabi dotted around the plate was very mild. Had I been less tired and more hungry, I would have ordered more. But I was very pleased overall. But I was perked up by the walk back to the car. The 'Fish and Chip Fest' which turned out to be South Perth Streats, (a food truck night) was going on and according to the locals I talked to and what I saw is well worth going. It all added to the atmosphere, the families, pets and kids, (little and big) and the restaurant all reminded me of how lucky we are in this part of the city.More

We came today for an early Father's Day celebration (appreciated the last minute inclusion given our usual Shorehouse was hindered by rain). It was a shame that we experienced terrible service waited what seemed like an hour for the food (despite you arguing it was...only 30mins). I had two kids with me who were complaining constantly it was taking so long. As we watched people come order eggs and bacon (usual breakfast) receive their food and leave yet our food still had not come (all of us on the table saw the same thing happen time and time again). I am a local and even held my sons holy communion celebration here so till today never had such terrible service. We won't be coming back, my food was also cold and I couldn't be bothered complaining and sending it back but I do wonder how long it was seating there. On top spoke to the manager and he was dismissive and could not care about my grievances, we paid and left. Thanks for absolutely ruining our Father's Day celebration what annoys me more is not paying for a waste of food but having to deal with a South American manager who doesn't have a clue about restaurant management. Hospitality 101 don't argue with the customer.More

We were recently guests here for a wedding reception and we found the experience overwhelmingly positive. One downside was that the place was far too warm....and staff had a go at me for opening up a door to let fresh air in. But they did...turn heating down when asked to. Other than that, outstanding food and service. Great view of Perth skyline and wonderful sunset. Made for a fantastic evening.More
