Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Recommended by the corsierge for a traditional French raclette we tried this typical transalpine restaurant. Local style fast service excellent and abundant raclette with salami potatoes and salads. The only flaw is our backless stools, but there are also classic chairs. dessert ok and Fair price. Bravo

We had a great time with our grandchildren. Not used to tasting Savoyard fondue with potatoes, we really liked it!!!
There were 4 of us eating it and our grandson preferred to have pasta, he didn't leave a crumb. Very pleasant staff, coming from time to time to see if everything was going well. The chalet-style atmosphere that we appreciated! We hope to be able to come back next year!!!

Exceptional sirloin steak, cooked to perfection as requested; very good gratin dauphinois. Old-fashioned donkey ears are a marvel. And, for dessert, the soft chestnuts with blueberries delighted us. The welcome is simple, direct and true. The staff are busy, smiling and attentive. Everything is very clean too. There is a real napkin, nice and practical cutlery. The coffee is good and accompanied by Valrhona chocolate. For 40 euros per person you have a wonderful evening.

The L'Alpin was a super close restaurant that we could see from our airbnb so we decided to give it a go. The cute factor is high and the outdoor seating was nice. The staff was friendly but it was clear that they were struggling between the indoor seating and the outdoor seating. Hence, service was slow. However, for us, the main problem was their lack of care. Yes, we are tourists trying to order in French. In their haste, they essentially got our order wrong. Rather than slow down and make sure we understood them and they understood us, they wanted to get our order and leave as quickly as possible.
Now, our order was not complicated. But, when the food came, not only was it wrong, it was nothing to write home about. The salad was swimming in dressing. The french fries were limp, and bland. The fondue plate was meat, rather than cheese. And that was that. Not a very difficult mean in my mind. But, pretty poorly executed.
Having three young kids, we had ordered a serving of the fondue for 2 to share. However, the folks decided to charge us per person. Specifically, $28 Euros person! I'm pretty sure my 8 year old didn't eat $28 Euros worth of food, nor had we ordered it that way. My other two kids eat like birds so it was all very disappointing.
Getting the check took nearly 20 minutes, and this was after they had cleared the table. I don't think we will be going back.

Hello, I’m very sorry to read this bad review about my restaurant. For sure there were some misunderstanding between my waitresses and your table and I’ll do my best to fix it or tell them to dedicate more time to explain differences between cheese fondu and meat fondu and the same to the number of people who can take it. Very sorry about it , we hope you’ll have a better experience next time you come ! For the check we are very sorry we have internet problems and it does go by this to do it but we could have done it by hand. Hope to see you next time with a better time !

Reading all the great reviews of this restaurant makes me wonder if we were just unlucky or if they were badly prepared because it was New Year's Eve.
We booked for a large group (8 adults and 10 kids- ages 8-17) for New Year's Eve. We had a set menu of 6 courses which sounded great.
Unfortunately the food quality was quite mixed. One or two of the dishes were okay (but not fantastic) but some were downright awful - some kind of dodgy risotto was a particular low light.
We unanimously said we would not go back and some of the kids actually went and ordered pizza from a nearby pizzeria afterwards.
Maybe we were just unlucky but we would not be going back to confirm or deny this.

L'alpin is your traditional French restaurant. Decor is rustic and on the night we visited most of the tables were full. Service is attentive, but little English is spoken (no English menus either) and this contributed to a gross error in my food choice. My knowledge of French food is quite poor and on querying Steak Tartare and how it was cooked muddled communication led me to believe it received more than just a quick flash in the pan. How wrong I was as it arrived STONE COLD much to the amusement of my party. I poked at it and it seemed flavoursome enough, but my son had to finish it for me. Thankfully the frites were warm! Other members of my party generally enjoyed their food and the duck received praise. My food experience was probably no fault of the restaurant - it just left me with an uneasy feeling about the place.

First we went for lunch to L'alpin + had a delicious burger with foie gras. The fries were greasy and limp :-(
As lunch was so tasty, we went back for dinner. The experience couldn't have been worse. The look of the starter of foie gras was very sad as the huge plate made the piece of foie gras look even smaller. My hubby had the steak as maincourse. 50% of the steak was inedible and my pasta dish with morels was bland and arrived almost cold. Staff hardly ever showed up so we had no chance to complain. After asking 4times in 30 minutes for the bill on this chilly evening, we went inside to pay. That was not appreciated at all!! On top no excuse for bad food and delay. The bill was € 103 for two!!
Feeling ripped off, cold and disappointed after L'alpin.

Lamb confit served cold.
While my wife eats her steak, my dish heats up in 15 minutes. I'm not really hungry anymore.
The boss: 'Everything went well'
Me: ‘no, we couldn’t eat together’
The boss: 'but if you ate at the same table'
Me: ‘I mean not at the same time’
The boss: 'She should have waited for you'
Me: ‘But if she had waited 15 minutes to heat my dish, she would have eaten it cold’
The boss: ‘ah, I don’t see what I can do!?’
Lunar!
Not even a sorry, excuse us, even someone who blames you for coming to his place to eat cold.
So I don't recommend it.

A real disappointment. Our friends who have an apartment in Briançon recommended this establishment to us although they were mixed on their last visit and ours confirmed their opinion.
24 euros for a Brianconnaise toast.... a slice of bread covered with ham and put in the oven and a salad cooked in the sauce...
24 euros for donkey ears... too thick a dough and very rare spinach drowned in the sauce without obviously forgetting the salad cooked in the sauce
31 euros per person for a raclette without raw ham and white ham which had probably stayed a little too long in the refrigerator and had retained its taste.
We reported this to the waitress who seemed surprised!!!!
We will definitely not set foot in this establishment again!!

It was after 21:00 and we had already eaten but not enough and just wanted to have a drink and take a board. The terrace was half empty and there was no indication that it was necessary to be placed also we sat. After a while, we called a waitress to place an order and she finally sent us someone. The first question asked was our nationality (no hello).... We are told that in France we do not sit at a table without asking and that we were kept waiting intentionally!

Too bad for the service! That evening we waited 10 minutes for someone to come and welcome us despite a reservation, a forgotten order at the aperitif, a dish that arrived before the starter and a forgotten conviviality! Regarding the cuisine, everything was very good if you are looking for a mountain spirit.
This is what makes the difference between a good meal and a great time

We live in Ireland and often we go to the area of the Alps for holidays. We absolutely love l'Alpin and we are so happy to be back here and see how they only get better. Food is always amazing yet traditional and the ambiance is really nice. 👌 well done guys!

Second time we have visited while skiing at New Year, following a lovely first visit back in August. Extremely friendly staff, couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. Lovely table for 8 of us, delicious alpine food & good wine. Can’t wait to visit again in February.

The experience was terrible. They placed us near the entrance door which remained half open at every passage. We asked to be moved to a place that wasn't so cold and they responded with a lot of rudeness and even resentment. Furthermore, the salad was also in a terrible state of preservation. In short, not to be repeated.
