Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Despite some problems with the raclette (it got fire at the beginning) the dinner was good, especially les escargots. They didn't comply with law because didn't ask for the green pass (pass sanitaire)

Slightly off the very touristy track of the Grande Rue La Caponniere was a nice place for a leisurely lunch. Tables on the little terrace outside are slightly squashed together but not too badly! I had the tartiflette, which came with a nice green salad with carrot, a glass of rosé and a coffee and the bill came to just under €20. The tartiflette was really tasty and a generous size. Service was efficient and very friendly.

We had Raclette, and it was very good. The position of the restaurant was very close to the center. The decoration for Christmas was very poor and cheap stuff. They announced that they speak italian and English, but guy who was serving didnt speak any of them.

From beautiful cuisine to fresh produce, in this small tavern in a gargoyle street, some privileged tables on the terrace. For us, trout fillet from alpine rivers or 3 ribs of lamb from the Alps with very hearty accompaniment, very gourmet coffee or happy profit with génépi. Very hearty. Hurry up, it closes on September 15, 2024 to take a deserved retirement ...

Small restaurant, we enjoyed the dish of the day "rib garnished with home fries with its mixed salad as well as vauban pie and blueberry pie. Thank you very much to the boss and her waitress for their warm welcome. We wish you a very nice and deserved retirement

A small but very nice place, we went with some friends, booking at the last minute and we had a great time. The staff were very kind, even though the place closed at 10pm, we stayed until 11pm without them telling us anything. We ate very well and the price is excellent for the quality of the food. I'll be back for sure!

Had a great night here after stumbling on it as we wandered the old town looking for a spot for a meal for 10 hungry skiers. Very tasty local food, helpful friendly service and very good value (esp the set menus). They do what they do very well. Recommended.

It's there, it's in the old part of the city, it's an easy fix. The food was not bad, they played the game when the city was hosting a medieval festival and had a "medieval menu". However, I always come back to customer service: a smile would be nice, coming to check on your guests once in a while would be great (2h for a trout and a salad!). Also...25mn before getting our coffees...there were about 12 people in the restaurant. I mean...paying attention to little details makes a big difference. Especially when you own a place which works seasonally and you have 2 months to reach your goals. But nothing beats having lunch outside when in the old Briançon!

La Caponnière serves traditional mountain fare, and various specialities. We enjoyed a "pierrade": 3 types of meat (steak, duck and pork) which we cooked ourselves on a hot stone. It was served with a variety of sauces, chips and salad. The meat was very tender and succulent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. There is a small terrace, which looks out over a quiet side street, and 2 dining rooms. Both rooms are quite small, so if several people are eating a fondue savoyarde, there can be quite a strong smell of cheese! The service was very good, both friendly and efficient.

This is a lovely little restaurant located just off a side street down by the main church in Briancon old town. We were the only foreigners in the restaurant, which is decorated with traditional alpine farming implements and old rifles, snow shoes etc. This is the place to go if you want good mountain food, we had a raclette which was delicious, with an entire half of cheese(!) under a heat lamp, and the table behind us were eating what looked like a superb cheese fondue. It was a lovely lunch, well worth the journey from Bourg d'Oisans and was reasonable value for money. I would eat here again.

Food average French, shame about the bill that was beaten with a higher price than I was told but I noticed it once I got home.

A large slate outside offering us the suggestion of the day which seemed very appetizing to us, we were seated and a quarter of an hour later the waitress came to take the order....but no more suggestions, too bad they told us. not when we arrived we just thought of telling us that the credit card does not work, we will not have tried the restaurant, the sympathy was not there
